View Full Version : Best Joypad To Use?
Hey Guys,
Only found out about this game because i see a trailer on youtube. WHAT A GAME THIS WILL BE!!!!!! I been on the website had a look around, my pc requirment should be ok (pc's only 6 months old) but i want a new joypad. Preferably one like the PS2's, e.g if you push the analogue stick slighlty you go slow, the more you push the faster you go, same with the steering. The pad i have dosn't do that. Soon as you touch it the car will shoot off. I have been using it with steet racing syndicate and its cool, but need a top notch one for this game. Wanna make it as life like as possible.
Cheers Guys

Hi there. The first thing I would say is consider a wheel... specialdri
But since that's not what you're asking about...
For the beta, and previous driving games I have been using a Thrustmaster Firestorm Dual power. I am quite happy with it, and actually have two so all the settings are exactly the same on both of my main gaming systems. I have also heard good things about the x360 controllers for use with PC. As I understand it's basically the same controller but with windows drivers. You can ask the x360 players on here about the sensitivity etc., plus there might be a few pc players floating around here already using them.
For that matter it might be possible as well to use a ps2 controller on the pc with a little effort.
Hope that helps. For my part I have really enjoyed my controllers, but am looking forward to making the jump to a G25 wheel in the coming days.

Hi and welcome to the forums :salut2:
A version of the 360 controller will shortly be available for PC
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/gaming/ProductDetails.aspx?pid=090&active_tab=overview
But see the smallprint: *in supported games. So if you intend to go down this route then check that it works with the game first.
You can also easily connect a PS2 Dual Shock with a readily available adapter

I use one of these to play PES on the PC and it works nicely.
Well, I have an Xbox 360 Controller. That is the cabled one. I just bought a standart X360 controller and installed the driver and there you go!
The only difference is that rumble function is only available with games that support Xinput. (Prince of Persia Two Thrones, FIFA 07)
I must add that I am extremely happy with my gamepad. Its throttle buttons make it one of the best gamepads for racing. I strongly recommend one.
I use my PS2 pad, and it's pretty good. It has dead zone issues with Need For Speed though.
Another one to look at is the NYKO AirFlo EX USB. It's a bit bigger than the PS2 pad, it doesn't have rumble on it, but the sticks are good and it comes with good software, allowing you to set keys and mouse movement in unsupported games.
it also has built in fans to keep your hands cool and sweat-free!
It's a bit flimsy though.
Not perfect, but the best pad I ever had.
I'd suggest getting a standard X360 controller and then using these drivers...

They're not the official X360 controller drivers, but they do add support for deadzones and cusomisable axis etc...
I've been using it with eRacer, and before that it worked well on TDU beta.

Hi, I've just had a look on the official Xbox forums and it looks like there are a few quirks with the crossfire receiver at present. Hope this link is of some use.
