Hi, i am actually racing game fan, and cant wait for this game to come out on the pc. However i have always tried to save a few quid by just using my keyboard for all my games. That was until i tried TOCA Race Driver 3, and found that driving this way was almost impossible due to its accurate simulation, the only way to go forward on the keyboard meant slamming on the accelerator resulting in a never ending wheel spin. However other recent games such as Flatout 2 or NFS Carbon are still playable on the keyboard. With TDU's release on the horizon, should i bite the bullet and buy myself a wheel, or gamepad. Or could i get away with the keyboard still. Plus if i buy an extra peripheral do i buy a wired one, or go wireless, because i have noticed with certain wireless gear that the delay time can affect gaming, or am i doing something wrong?

P.S. Can you download extra cars like you could in the early days of NFS, I ask because my GF wants her Clio in the game (i apologise, but you gotta keep the ladies happy too)

I am certainly a proponent for gaming peripherals, so I would say yeah get yourself a controller or a wheel. I think you will find it adds to the overall enjoyment you get from the game, and will add to your car control abilities.

I know some people will contest the car control point. There were people out there in the beta testing who were driving with keyboards and they really felt that they had much better control than they would have had with anything else.

It is a really individual thing in the end. Certian things just work better/worse for some people due to all sorts of reasons like hand size, seating position, driving style, etc.. As for whether you "can get away with the keyboard still", I say definitely yes. You will still be able to drive and have loads of fun, you just might not be setting too many top 10 times on tracks... :wink2:

As for wired or wireless - it's entirely up to you.
The XBOX 360 pads are wireless. It's pretty cool that the wires don't knock beer and ashtrays everywhere when the lads are round. Wireless controllers might go a bit screwy when the batteries start to go, and they are generally a fair bit heavier and more expensive.
Not too sure about game lag, but personally I'd stay wired simply because my PC desk is close enough to the PC to do so (a couple of mates of mine have ahad small problems with wireless mice in games)

I think I will buy a gamepad for this game, I mean... There are alot of nice gamepads for a reasonable price on the market now-a-days.

Cappucino's point is pretty valid. I drove all the way through the beta with my keyboard, and I gotta admit my fingers were feeling the effects after a couple weeks,I am in IT and if RSI (dreaded white finger arrrgh!) get's the better of me i'll be shafted, Now I pretty much was using the bikes towards the end, theyre pretty challenging to ride with the helmet view, but oh so rewarding when you put enough time in, so I have to make up my mind about a G25 as well!

For the cost, its sure one expensive piece of kit, but all I have ever heard about the G25 is how good it is, and thats usually a great indicator that the product is worth it. If you are a bike fiend maybe its better for the controller rather than a wheel, but at the moment im defo moving towards getting a G25 once my finances allow it!

:atari: 10sur10 I loved the beta, you have me hooked on the game. NOW PLEASE PLEASE RELEASE A DEMO UNTIL YOU GO GOLD ! :p
