Is this possible to play on Beta in SinglePlayer?
I know that, the online beta testing is closed for now, but can I play in TDU V.Beta in single player mode without connecting to network?

There are people out there who are managing to get this to work through a few different tricks and twists. There are generally a few criteria to having it work though, one of which generally seems to be having already created an offline profile before the beta session finished. You generally also need a valid key regardless of your intent to play entirely and exclusively offline.

I have spent some time on this trying to get it to work on at least one of my systems, using both the closed beta client and the open beta client and the two different keys I have, the offline profile I created at the beginning of the closed beta (accidentally) and others, using the different workarounds and such as Froogle alluded to. I have yet to have any luck, but that's not to say that you won't.

Change the date in your bios :)

That works...or you just change the date in Windows AND reboot before you try to run the game!

AND the date must be set to a time after the BETA was first installed and before the BETA expired. My PC has been on the 2nd of Feb for quite some time now ;-)

This works if you had the beta installed and working before the beta session finished. If you try to install and go this route it is unlikely to work.

Why? Does it require an Internet connection to install?

No, its because it has SecuRom double checking everything, and you can never completely get rid of the Securom files protecting the beta client without a hard drive format and windows reinstall.

I can play closed beta with open beta keys (had two of them), of course in single player mode only. I didn't use any tricks with windows or game, its simple clean install and key.

I can't see why one coud not set the date back to 1st of Feb, reboot and install the beta offline, create an offline account and play it.

I've been playing offline for a couple of weeks now. I'd rather live with all the bugs than not play at all.... March 16th ;-) I'll be surprised if that's not pushed back further!

Cheers

It is possible yes, its a bit tricky however, and frankly i doubt it would be a good place to write about it here in an Atari official forum... rolleyesa

Guys I don't know what do you mean by tricky, I installed my beta (closed from december), and used new key, they said i wont work but it's working. I didn't use "turn back date" trick or anything. Maybe it's only with new beta.

You have any more of those "new keys" laying around?? ;)

Good Idea Woozle as each key is good for 2 authorizations.

So if anyone has only used their key once, they could still share it with Woozle and he would be really happy :D

you guys, i tried a couple of times with the open beta client, turned back time, rebooted, pulled out internet plug, installed, and i have an old savegame (!) both online and offline (!) and it said that the time seemed to be wrong???

TrotterITCO is talking about the closed beta client though. I still have that stored away somewhere even though I can't use it...

really? cos i would love to get it if it works without fiddling with the time, and without having to take your pc offline.. and if it works with an open beta key

Well I can't get either of them to work right now, but part of my problem is that I had the same key provided to me for both the closed and open beta. For BOTH of my IGN accounts. So two different keys but for different accounts rather than different betas.

My problem is that I have used my keys too many times now. Had a couple reinstalls, and tried installing on both xp and vista on this machine...

yeah, but maybe if you have the compressed installer, cos i have my own key (used once) u could send it to me? or if you know a site from where its still possible to download the closed beta client for some weird reason :hin: that wuld be nice...

I had two keys, and I used first on XP and then in Vista, but that screwed up, so I had to format and use new keys. I think that I activated TDU before closing it down this month, maybe I could activate it because of the old client, I don't know. All I know is that I can play it and it great, it doesn't matter if its older version, main thing is that it's working.
Good luck guys.
