First impression: The island environment in TrackMania Sunrise looks better than TDU at the lowest settings, and runs a hell of a lot faster. Me thinks they should have been optimizing a bit more...
Also, apparently the streaming doesn't always keep up since there's a split second freeze every now and then when it's loading up new stuff. And that's just with an Audi TT, i wonder what kind of slideshow i get with a CCR.

How much memory you have and what GFX Card ???
And what HDD you got and the CPU speed ???
ChromeBallz

I'm slightly above the minimum spec:
AMD Athlon XP 2800+ (2087 MHz)
Sapphire Radeon x1600 Pro 256 MB
1024 MB RAM (DDR 333)
TDU runs on a seperate physical disk from the cache/windows.
I'm guessing the CPU is the big bottleneck here, but that still doesn't excuse the strange difference between games like TrackMania Sunrise, Oblivion, Prey and Rainbow Six Vegas, which all run considerably faster on high/max settings than TDU does on minimum.

you cant expect TDU to run on your system max detail, just aint going to happen.
you need to play about with your card/settings, aswell as the games, make sure you have the latest drivers also.
i had trouble at times running mine on max, but.. i was running max everything. ;)
and now i have upgraded to 1920x1200 we shall see how it handles.

umm (again), it wasnt like, 20fps, it was like fine = OK OK OK... like, goood
and i know if i run fraps it will show a lower fps, cos i tried in Live for speed, usually at 90-100 fps (without fraps running) and with fraps running it was down at 30-40fps..

How about this:
Intel Pentium D Dual Core, 3.00GHZ
NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GS, 512MB
2GB DDR2 Memory
I think the GFX Card will let me down???

Ok, I got a good 25-30 FPS with 3.0 ghz P4, ATI X600 (256) and 2gb RAM in beta - so hopefully the client would have been improved, so anything like my specs and above should be fine.
If there is stuttering ... DEFRAG!!! Thats 7GBs of information scattered about!!
well, thats weird :mefiant:

I run TDU at minimum settings, that's the problem. I haven't even tried running at max settings, and yet i get worse performance than Oblivion on max.

An XBox 360 is essentially a dualcore pentium with an Ati video card. That's why the PC version is almost exactly the same.

OMG you very funny. Have you ever programming? If not then don't say nuttin. If you don't know Windows architecture is something very another than xbox architecture and if you going to convert something without big rebuilding in the code it will lost a lot of performance. And true is that 1600pro is wack only 1600xt is worth it price.

:mefiant: The Xbox 360 processor is a triple core PPC based unit supportin an in-order execution instruction set. It is worlds apart from any Intel processor architecture.
At a programming level some of the tools and libraries are shared with those used to develop PC games.

I knew there was something funny about the CPU... Still, iirc the Ati card is based on something resembling a 1900XT, and the architecture is a glorified DX9 based thing? It's not *that* different from a pc. You can still run Linux on it, for example.
Also, my setup is by far not good enough to run the game at max settings, but i should be able to get a consistent 15-25 at minimum settings at 640x480 i'd say >_<

Hmm...
This is what I'm running right now:
AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Processor OC'ed to 2.5GHz (4100+)
1GB DDR SDRAM PC3200 WINTEC AMPO
Sapphire Radeon X850XT Platinum Edition 256MB GDDR3 PCI-E 16x
Creative Audigy 2 ZS Gamer Edition PCI Soundcard
ASUS A8N MVP-Deluxe Radeon Xpress 3200 Motherboard
160GB 7200RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s HDD
80GB 7200RPM ATA100 IDE HDD
Logitech MX518 Gaming Mouse 1600dpi
ViewSonic Black & White Keyboard w/ Hotkeys
Since I'm running an XPRESS3200 mobo, I'm wondering if this new
dongleless support tech. will work if I throw in an X1900XT, not
an X1900GT, or maybe even an X1800XT or another X850XT.
Anyone try this? I would really like to prepare for this game before
it comes out!
...I wish they brought back the Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo VG30DETT,
that was such a beautifully built car, with an amazing engine...
or even Nissan's never-released MID-4 prototype car, now that was
a unique vehicle for the 1980's!

Actually, even the X1600XT isn't worth the price for performance. Spending around that amount, I decided to go with the X850XT PE, even tho it utilizes an older shader version (35GB/s mem bandwidth, 16pp, 540 GPU, 590 VRAM, for only $160!!). Did a benchmark test with my friend's Radeon X1600XT, and then swapped my X850XT back in, using the Counterstrike Source video stress test. I was averaging 127fps @ 1024x768, and he was getting around 89 - 92. Not bad for a great game, but for this, TDU is gunna require the usage of as many pixel pipelines as possible, not to mention the bandwidth limitations of the X1600's memory channels, at 128-bit, with a memory bandwidth range of average 22GB/s, thats restrictive. Even the 512MB DDR2 versions won't cut it, unless your running a crossfire setup. I'd recommend 16pp or higher, and at least 256-bit memory, with GPU clock speeds minimal at 375, and VRAM clock rate at least 450 (900 DDR effective).
Simple... get the highest end Xxxx radeon family card, or at least an X1650XT.
Now, if your an Nvidia fanatic, I have little advice on that. :hin:
yay, going to pick it up in 2 hours :)

Yay i got a day early mdr1 But its is really hard to play with all the lagging

If you like NV you can Get Palit 7900GS for 190$ 256MB/256Bit 20pp core 450Mhz VRAM 1320Mhz which is much better than X850XT and X1650XT.
Meh.. I'm pretty disappointed with the graphics, doesn't look as good as the screenshots, even at max resolution :(

Hi ChromeBallz, I think you were in my team [CDD] in Trackmania Sunrise in 2005, go buy TMU and join us there!
I had some performance problems with the TDU beta too even on the lowest settings, despite my PC being new. And the sound only came from left channel.
I hope the problems are fixed, otherwise i'll have to wait for a patch...
Also, where did you buy TDU? I don't want to go to some store only to find that they do not have it yet tonguegre

2) De Dynabyte had TDU woensdag al, in ieder geval in Leiden. Als het goed is heeft iedere winkel em nu :x
