I'd really love for the game to have Winamp control or something similar. Or at least a CD-player. As it is, I just run Winamp in the background and control it with my media keys, but I'd like to have volume control for it in-game. (Atari, please note) :atari:

Read the manual btw.
X:\Documents and Settings\USER\My documents\Test Drive Unlimited\savegame\User\Radio
You have to create the map Radio, and create 4 other maps in radio and fill them with different music... Like one with rock, pop, trance and so on.
What happens if you put more music in game's own music-folder; Program Files/ Atari/ TDU/ ...something, where original MP3's are?

Not much, the new music wont play. I have tried.
Even more, if you fool around with those original radio's, they won't play anymore at all. I removed all Classic mp3's and replaced them with my own. This didn't work (indeed) but when I put the original classic tunes back again they didn't work either... and still don't. Not that I mind though.
The trick is to (indeed) make folders INTO the radio folder you have to make manually (it's not there by default!) in the My documents\Test Drive Unlimited\savegame\User directory.
Example:
X:\Documents and Settings\USER\My documents\Test Drive Unlimited\savegame\User\Radio\The Beatles\Hey Jude.mp3
The song Hey Jude will be played when you scroll through the channels in the ingame radio: the channel will be called The Beatles. In this case. ;)
Now if only I could make my own icons for my stations...

Hey, thanks! It's so nice some people actually bother reading through manuals. :)
I need to try that too tonight then. I was wondering why the PC version had so little to choose from and the PSP version had several 'stations' like rock and all. Guess now I know. ^^
I'd still love a Winamp control interface though, but this really is good enough.
Yeah, well, the interface of the radio isn't great (I just press every numpad key available until I hear what I want ;) , but I just love it to be able to turn the volume up or down while cruising in my Ferrari. ;) I'd hate to have to alt-tab to Winamp or iTunes!
I only wished (well, amongst other things) they had a seperate volume control on the audio settings page for the radio. I really hate the menu music and turned it off completely, only to find out the radio was shut down too...
BTW If someone knows how to get the songs played in the right order when using m3u's, please let me know! Up to now all songs are played in alphabetical order: yikes. (
BTW 2: Do not use m3u's made or edited with Windows Media Player because that will make TDU crash at startup!

Yes, Atari, please give us discrete volume levels for radio/other music. It's mostly the shop music I'd like to turn off to enjoy all the little audacious details, but I don't care so much for the menus either... :)

Cool thanks for the thread. I got my MP3's playing now. I even to set up three of the Vice city radio stations as user tracks :)

for the radio, you can set the volume, just press "num4" or "R" to open the radio and then press "num8" for volume up and "num2" for volume down.. and you just turn the volume down all the way to turn off the radio...
its really that simple..
and if you were using MP3's just name them with "001 - SONG NAME.mp3"
and you put the one you want first with 001 and second 002, so on..
i have '+' and '-' as my volume controls.
i have to say, the radio works magnificent! well done atari!
yeah i think its great...
