Hi all
Since I bought the game a couple of days ago, all I've had with it are problems of all kinds. Finally, after I've decided to format my hard-drive, and on top of that, also of course reinstall Windows XP, at last I could atleast start it. But the luck didn't last that long to say the least. Not to mention the usual problems with the servers and the graphics, I've got a real serious one, and from what I have read here, I haven't seen anyone else with this exact problem. So here it goes:
The game crashes, and re-starts my computer, out of the blue. Sometimes I can go on for 10 minutes, sometimes it happens after 1 minute, but most of the times, it happens when I push the "Exit-button" in the game to quit playing. (The longest I've gone so far without a crash is about 30 minutes). The most annoying things of all things related to this problem, is that my profile, which I always start as an online-profile, suddenly turns into an offline-profile, and that my current saved game dissapears, so I have to start a new game, with a completely new profile ! - This only seem to happen when the game crashes when I push the Exit-button, if the game chrashes "in game", the profile stays intact for some reason.
So, first of all - I've got new drivers. I've already tried re-installing the game, (and Windows a couple of times). I don't think it's a trouble of over-heating, as I never had this kind of problems before with any other game, and as I usually turn down the graphics in TDU as soon as I get a chance.
My current setup when I, (try), to run the game:
Windows Xp
Abit IC-7
P4 3.0 Ghz
2 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GS
SoundBlaster Live ! Value
Please, anyone have any idea what I can do to fix this problem ? (I've already spent over 10 hours trying to solve this problem, and it's starting to get "just a little annoying").
Have you tried to disable your sound card, from what i have read through out the forums. many people have problems with crashing and that is solved with sound card removal or simply disable it...
Dont know... but surely worth a try just to check. :hin:

No, I haven't tried to dissable it, I'll do that right away ! - Thanks.
(I also have another sound card I could use, I guess I'll try that one too).
I'm really starting to love EA and Dice again, since the problems I had with their products is nothing compaired to the problems this product from atari has given me and most people trying to play it.
THANKS ATARI!!!

Is ANY of your hardware overclocked? when I overclocked my p4 windows used to restart randomly all the time and I couldnt work out why.

I have to admit, for a commercial game to have all these issues and bugs which people have been reporting it is a bit of a joke. In fact no, its not a bit of joke, it is a joke lol.
Although I am having no problems myself. Just 1 second pauses every now and again due to lack of ram (I have 512mb). The game is unplayable for me.
The game also thinks Iam American! how the hell does that work! How can I possibly have the American version when I purchased it in the UK and the American version comes out on the 20th? Unreal.
i am on similar system and had the exact same problem, the pc restarted quite alot
Windows Xp
2 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT
SoundBlaster XFI
i reverted to 97.28 drivers and have played for hours without the pc restarting, maybe the driver was the problem

Were in the UK did you buy it as it aint out till the 16th
You are not alone, I also have random crashes and system reboots, but I get them every hour or every two hours. I also thought this was a heat issue at first but I never have any problems with other games. Underclocking my card, which is an ATI Mobile X1600 with 75 MHz didn't save me from crashing or extend my crash-free gaming time..
As I haven't found any other working windows audio drivers for my MacBook Pro I still have to stick with the regular, and still in beta stage, audio drivers..
And I agree that this whole TDU issue is a joke, but a rather expensive one. We shouldn't be investing our time tweaking our pc's but simply return the game to the stores.

Thanks for all the input this far.
A few quick comments:
My PC isn't overclocked ATM - so unfortunetley that's not the problem here.
The "Windows has just recoverd from a serious system error" message is exactly what I get after the game re-boots the computer, but for me, I actually can use the tab function, without any crashes. (At least the few times I've tried).
I've tried different sound set ups, (I've got several sound cards, so this will take a while), and I'm not done with them all yet, but this far - no luck with it. I'll try more of this later on, after I've tried an old driver for my videocard, (the 97.28 one). I hope that fixes the problem, if not, I'll have a go at the sound cards again.
Finally, let's just put it this way - The patch simply must be released ASAP.

The funny thing is is it has the uk hotline number in the manuel. But no american one. Unreal.
PLUS oh yes, PLUS my account just got buggerd up and I now have a diffrent guy, diffrent cras, all sorts. That other guy is right, this is not a joke, this a very expensive joke.

Lol well then that means the game is indeed a UK retail version, lmao so their would be no reason for it to have an American Number in? would cost u a tenna an hour.
70 quid! i payed £34.99 for my Import, with Next Day shipping, from Ebay lol!
have u tried this game without updatin your drivers? ino i updated my gforce 7600GT driver a couple months ago, and i cudnt play jack, until i downgraded it, then everything worked fine, for me i just got the game out the box and installed with no probs, then got playin with no probs, i dont understand y lots of u are avin problems, its weird :hin: my computer is 10 months old, so not new exactly.

Yay ! - I think I've solved my problems with the crashes.
Seems like it was the drivers for the video card afterall. First, I tried to get hold of some old ones, but they only made the game crash even more. (Actually as soon as I started it). Then I got the newest drivers from nivida.com, (the other new drivers I used to have before are the ones found at ngohq.com - as they've never caused a problem for me before I installed this game).
Played for a few hours now, no crashes, I can even push the exit-button, and everything works just fine. (Knock on wood - let's hope it stays this way).
Thanks everyone for all the input. Finally, after finding solutions to several major problems, I can play the game, I really hope the rest of you with major problems can be as lucky as me. (Actually, it still got a few bugs left for me too, but nothing extra-ordinary).

Guys, check your card and get your latest drivers, that fixes 80% of issues you might have with any given game, as long as you meet system requirements.

Thank you, xxstalker24xx. Not much point in having a tech discussion forum if the forum structure is ignored.
It only takes a few seconds for a forum member to understand where to write, you can't expect moderators to baby sit all posts. Please, guys, use some common sense when you post.

And it takes an eternaty to get a game developer to under stand what quality software is. Its allmost like the moderators....
I feele like this game is on the same track as MCO and thats not good and no responce from atari about eny patches comming its a one way comminication like allways dont the game developer ever learn to lissen to there paying costumer...

Hi, seems that i have the same problem, bsod at random time when i play, it's possible to know what's the drivers u change to try myself?
Well, I'm not sure if your post was meant for me or not, but here it goes again: I changed the drivers for my video card. First, I tried the ones out @ www.ngohq.com (Optimized drivers for NVIDIA). Never had problems with these drivers in other games. With these drivers, the game crashed about every 10-20 minutes. Then I tried some old ones, the 97.28 fond at some "random site". This made the game crash just by starting it up. Then, I finally went for the ones att www.nvidia.com - they worked "OK", - the game went from crashing, and shutting down my whole computer, to "just regular crashes" after a few hours of gaming. Sadly, after one of these crashes, my account is now messed up, the good ol' -34546045000 (or something like that) cars sold/bought in the Info, my character changed his looks, and the map is "chopped up". All this, plus, that now I'm also having trouble with the TDU-servers, something that I didn't really have before this happend. Not to mention other, minor problems, I'm having with the game as well. But, I'm still hoping for that patch..
And for this being in the wrong part of the forum, well, when this thread was created, (it's a few days old now), the tech-forum was brand new, if it existed at all. Not even sure I noticed it until a few hours later, then it had about 2-3 threads in it. OK, now it's moved anyway, but just to let you guys know.
I would love to hear from other ATI users, which drivers they used to solve this problem. I am currently at the latest Omega drivers. (based on 7.1) but haven't found a way yet to get rid of these crashes.

I use the offical driver 7.2 and I have also random crashes. I had befor 7.1 and switching them did change my situation at all.... I had befor the public beta and could play it without problems.

Same here, I have tried 7.1, The Omega Drivers based on 7.1 and the official 7.2. I'm currently running 7.2 and just had another crash after 2 hours of playing. :) I really hope any upcoming patch will solve this problem. I don't care too much about the other glitches right now, this is on top of my priority list.

Another problem.
Mainboard: Gigabyte K8N-SLI (on nforce4SLI)
CPU: Athlon64 3200+
RAM: 1GB
Graph: Gigabyte Radeon X700Pro 128MB
Game crashes after several minutes of working. Any time --> any location.
First suspends for a while and stays that way or crashes into black screen.
Tried:
Ati Catalist based on 7.2 (VPU sometimes recovers, 2-3times and crashes)
Ati drivers - 7.2 (VPU sometimes recovers, 2-3times and crashes)
Old gigabyte drivers from support page.
Omega Drivers based on Ati 7.1 drivers
Drivers for mainboard from gigabyte
Drivers for realtek AC97audio from gigabyte
Starting to get little iritated
any ideas?

I just got a thougth, maybe HDR option and Anti Analyse cause this freezes? Why do I think so? Because I did not use them in beta version... and had there no problems... so maybe its that what causes them. I going to try it out at last today.

Well, it's worth a try. I also haven't played without AA yet. I did try briefly to enable AA in windows instead of ingame, but then AA wouldn't work. I did however try to disable my sound card in the device manager as some people recommended. It did give me some hope after I was playing for 90 minutes, but then my system crashed again. Tomorrow evening I'm going to try to play without AA. I will let you know..
Turning AA off also didn't help. -sigh- However, my eventviewer showed some error during the time of the crash (acpiec). So I googled and turned off acpiec. The game still crashes, but at least it doens't show me any errors anymore in eventviewer. -sigh-
