Another attempt of the industry to rip off teenagers. Period.
This game has many issues. Those of you trying to play it with a wheel and getting unusual low fps: Try to unplug your wheel and check the framerate then. You might be surprised.
But the biggest problem this game has is the multiplayer part.
To quote Atari: "M.O.O.R. - challenge one of thousands of players you'll meet on the island using our unique Massively Open Online Racing system." Sounds promising eh? But the reality looks different. 8 players max, not just during races, also when cruising around. There NEVER will be more than 8 cars around you, even if there are more players in that area. The system splits up people into groups of 8 - if your friends have been put into another group you wont see them - even if they are standing on the very same spot. The only "massive" thing here is the counter at the top telling you that there are 1432 players online - too bad that you only see 8 of them at any given time.
I still hope that some of these issues might be "patched" away by some game updates in the future, but looking at the past ATARI is known to screw things up BIG TIME. dark:

Some valid points there however, just imagine, how the game would run if there were 30 high textured vehicles on the screen at one time. 1-2 FPS? Probably.

the points uve pointed out their are brilliant ones, however not enough to bring the game down? i think the single player abilities alone are amazing, theirs so much to do, and with the added multiplayer challenges, and clubs etc, its brilliant, the trade is probiably the best thing ive encounted yet, selling Enzo Ferarri's for much more than their worth, n ppl acctually buying em, hehehe  but yeh id love to drive around the streets and see a different driver on each corner, but come on, in this day in age it just aint gunna appen, maybe if this games graphics sucked so much, like GTA's and details were poo, maybe it would be possible, but tbh i wouldnt sacrifice that.

Guess the reason I don't feel ripped off is because I haven't been a teenager for more than a decade then :).
Yep, the game is buggy (seemingly mostly technical issues rather than gameplay) and was probably released too soon - but despite the fairly severe, but fortunately only occasional, graphics and sound issues I've had, it's been a long time since I've had this much fun in a game.
€50 for so far more than 30 enjoyable hours, and many more to come, is a bargain - subjectively speaking anyway. On a more objective note I'm obviously also hoping that the first few patches aren't far away, even if I've personally been fortunate enough to only be effected in a fairly limited way by the technical issues.

Same here mate. Iīm 32 and I really donīt care about the 44 Euro. (Donīt tell my wife)
The game is good for me, Iīm addicted. But I raced a lot with friends using Live for speed, GTL and GTR 1+2. My definition of a race game goes much above 8 cars at all. But like you see above: I hope that this things will be fixed soon. :wink2:
@Tame_Racing_Driver: Iīm not shure about this. I modded my San Andreas with high detail cars (gta.img 1,5gigs) and it runs great. With up to 50 cars on the screen. Also oval racing on NASCAR with 35+ cars or circuit racing in GTL (f.e. Nordschleife with 24 cars) is well playable.

We all were complaining that they delayed it so much,
now it was released too soon? :mefiant:
(I know it was a comment on your part)

This game rules, despite its limitations, its still the best goddamned racer out there.
there are bugs in this, that were being encountered during beta, fair enough, thats very true but tbh the bugs are small in comparison to the fun created!

True. Now I ask myself why was it delayed so much. Everybody was always saying... nevermind the delay as long as we have good working game without bugs... it has been delayed more than once and with no results; game is here and so are the bugs.

Well, actually, as much as I've enjoyed the game this last week I would rather take an early, buggy release over waiting another month or two :p.
Unfortunately that attitude might also be part of the reason why so many games are released in an unfinished state these days - the publishers know they can often get away with it. A couple of hundred people (if that many) on a message board complaining is probably unlikely to make a dent in the sales figures of any half decent game.
The only thing I'm missing is the rear view mirror and the possibility to start a LAN server.

I wrote this back in the Beta era... PC can show alot more that 7 cars... You DONT see 8 people, only 7... You have to Include yourself, this is why there is always a 1 person Online if you look at the GPS thingy...
I wanted it to be like a REAL Online game... EVERYONE that is near you YOU SEE them... That way you will ALWAYS see your friend(s)... ALL OF THEM...
Shame the Servers are totally LAGGING and NEVER show your friends no matter how many times you Click and Spawn beside them... I clicked OVER 30 times and my friend click 25 times, then he showed up inscreen... I Added him to friends list AND invited to my Car Club, BUT HE Disappeared... Sorry but something has to be done about this... I want to see ALL THE CARS NEAR ME :)...Thats what Online gaming is about...
Think like WOW...I hate it and will never Pay to Play Online...
Anyway, if your playing with a huge party of 12 people (sorry you can only see 7 including yourself making it 8) and you go fight monsters, sorry you can only see 7 monsters and the others "invisible" monsters are killing you because your only allowed to see 7 people and 7 monsters online only...
Nahh, the Servers really need to be rebuilt... 7 People RANDOM people and NOT your friends/Club members show up inscreen after 30 clicks/teleports to the pertson then forget about having fun...
Servers need to be fixed so FRIENDS/CLUB MEMBERS COME FIRST Onscreen...

Pssst.. donīt tell anyone.
Need a setup? :wink2:
@NecroViolator: ROFL about that WoW point of view. I donīt like WoW but I play GuildWars a lot. There are several places (cities, outposts) where you can meet up to 250 people at the same time. (If there are more then 250 people claim to join this city the program automaticly creates a new server. This can grow up to unbelievable numbers at special events f.e. 75 english districts) You can meet people there, build or join a party and go out to explorable areas. This areas are instances where you canīt meet other people. If TSU would come this way everything would be fine. IMHO 8 cars are enough for street racing. But itīs too difficult to meet my clan members yet.
BTW: WHERE CAN I FIND AN OVAL? mdr1
