Hi guys,

Seems i can reinstall the entire thing all over again.
Got a backup of my savegame, hopefully that works.

But all of the sudden the game doesn't save anymore.
Yeah...i get the message, but the game freezes.

It happens when i go from the house/mansion to the road.

But now i'm wondering if there are more people who encountered this problem.

Hi.

I'm also stuck at any save point, any profile. The game just freezes. Just started happening. I've been playing for two days.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is something wrong with my install to. Unlocked 100% of road but still cant click on the small island, done at least 5 laps but nothing.
And im afraid that the game will get worse or mess up my save if i reinstall.

But other than that it works just fine.

You can't teleport to Manamana Island..

In your savegame folder: remove/delete the playersave2 directory. Then your save should be working fine.

Didn't work. Tried completely removing the saves, still locks up. I'm trying a reinstall right now.

Ok, reinstall didn't work, not even on a different disk drive. Meanwhile, I found this at the ataricommunity forums:

"Then by just chance i started the game and at the resume screen i just clicked quit and the game saved and shut down. And for some reason my game worked again when i restarted it,no saving hangs .This might just have been a fluke,it may not work for you but its worth a shot, hope someone is helped by this."

It worked for me, briefly, but then it locked up again. Judging by the replies, it's had mixed results, but I hope it helps some of you. Meanwhile, I'm still looking for an answer.

EDIT: Another workaround attempt:

"Find the cdkey.txt (in documents&settings/all users/application data/.... Leave the cdkey.txt and Delete any other files in the same directory. I had two more files. They appear to be cache files which apparently screwed up our saving."

Good luck, everyone.

This last one worked. Find the folder, delete everything except the CDKEY .txt file. I had not two, like the last guy, but three other files. Deleted everything, now it works like a charm.

Good luck, everyone.

That second hint worked just remember that the second file is a hidden file so you might not see it at first. Thank you so mutch Doubleclutch! :)

i cant be bothered to type it all out again,
so copy paste from another post i put. -

im now getting this... after all the problems...

It annoys, because everytime i quit the game, it saves...
screen goes black but faintly see Testdrive logo, i cant do anything on the desktop. no task manager or anything... so...

I have to restart my pc

we waited so long since beta... and things have gotten worse.
im not sure i can be bothered to load it up now, knowing i have to restart pc after playing.... check the other europe forums alot are having the same issue freeze on save!

many have lost there save file too, from it being corrupt.
the only thing worse than not being able to play is... having your save game go corrupt. im scared now incase mine does...

By the way: even though I reinstalled, I kept what I thought were my corrupt saves. When I solved the problem, I tried putting them back in, and it worked. I have lost nothing.

Glad I could help some of you guys out.

Don't work for me. I have enabled the hidden files, but there isn't anything than that cdkey.txt.

Just copy all the files you're going to delete to another folder like c:\temp.

Look in your My Documents folder, should be a Test Drive Unlimited folder there. The saves are inside, just copy the whole folder to another location.

Search entire disk for BuddyCache.dat and radial.cdb and delete them. Have you gone into your house and quit the game so the file saves?

Here is what worked for me and as far as i see for most others as well (exept for thoose who have their gear stolen) Take a copy of your "savedgames" directory and put it somewhere else on your computer (anywhere). Uninstall and reinstall the entire game. Start a new game and play just until the new game saves for the first time. Then quit the game and copy back the "savedgame" directory that u put somewhere on your computer. When it asks if u wanna replace the "savedgamesfolder" whit the existing one answer YES to all and VOILA , your old savedgames and profiles are back on track. Easy realy once you know it. REMEMBER to make a copy of your savedgames EVERY TIME u quit the game, so that if it happens again u know what to do. GOOD LUCK

I have the same problem as you guys but I tried this solution and the good luck part didnt help with me :(

Even when I uninstall the game + manually deleted some folders, the game crashes after I installed and started a new game.

I'm pretty desperate

Delete the radial file
C:\program data\test drive unlimited you need to see the hidden folders and hidden system files to see this file
