So, I started my game and pressed Continue game. Came to my house, pressed exit to get out to drive. When I'm about to exit my house I get stuck at the Saving/Loading page.
I wait for several minutes before I try anything. Tabbing out, CTRL+ALT+DELETEing, nothing works. So I have to reboot manually. Then my computer wants to run the checkdisk and I let it (if not my winamp and IRC won't start :<)
Here they say there are some problems with my TDU savegames and say the files will be truncated. When I log in to Windows and try to start the game again, I can no longer press "Continue game". I check my My Documents/TDU/savegame folder and all the files are gone except commondt.sav.
Is there any way to retrieve my save games or do I have to start all over?
How bad it may sound: you have to start over. After my first 20 hours of TDU I had the same thing and had to start all over. TDU tends to corrupt savegames when the game crashes while it is saving.
If you still feel like starting over now that you lost everything, make sure you make a copy of your TDU folder that is stored in My Documents, so that when it happens again you will be able to restore an older savegame.
I know this is extremely frustrating.. Been there..
It's not fair, Atari should have just postponed the game another 3 months, then our first experiences would've been a lot better.. I would have rather waited a bit longer.
Dang just got the same issue. Hope they fix this , its rather frustrating sour:

What the other guy says is wrong. He doensnt have a clue on how save game files work!
First you dont have to start all over! Instead you have 2 options.
1) and easiest: delete the log file in your TDU folder located in within your documents. Copy the content of the save game folder just in case.
After deliting the log file which was created when your game crashed, reboot pc and start game again. Go to your garage and choose a car located in a different garage. This will force the program to create a new safe game file.
At the new location choose any car and exit home. There we go...
2) You may have to install the game on a different HD, as I did when doing it on vista. Then after game installed copy the original game folder without the log file and replace the save game folder. But first create a new profile on the new installation using the exact details and game spy ID.
After you replaced the save game folder with your regular one you are now able to play again.
