Again I notice a user with the stutter with an NVidia 8800 (G80)
I have a GTX and have the same problem.
This did not occur when I had the same rig but with an ATI X1900. (although this was on the closed/open beta)
I think NVidia need to fix this issue with an updated driver.

I have the same problem. Your right you cant drive at high speeds :(
My pc:
Pentium 4 2.53ghz
512mb RAM
Radeon 9600 pro 256mb ( mdr1 )
Hopefully when a patch is reales it will be fixed :)
I think its nvidias driver and tdu.
With my 7600gt i didnt noticed the stuttering.
Also i think the shadows of cars and buildings make the problem.
On far distance cars and buildings dont have shadows but whet they are loaded it stutters...
So bad for a great game that is now unplayable...
I remember the game crashday from atari....
They released patch 1.1 after a while with some fixes and wrote in next weeks there would be a 1.2 patch but since today, nothing happens...
PLEASE :atari: ,or who ever, DONT COUNT YOUR MONEY AND LET YOUR CUSTOMERS WITH THIS BETA ALONE!!! NOT AGAIN!!!

I had this problem in the beta, and it's still in the gold release.
7800 GT i was fine, with Nvidia 8800GTX, stuttering constantly, and the card is fine, it's the game... can't believe they still have not fixed it... it's unplayable.

Thats right!
A great game i think but you cant play it with new hardware...
I thought it is my hdd but if you had the same problem....

No it's not the HDD, that was my first guess when I had the problem in Open Beta.
I reviewed the disk reading during the game, and it's not even worth mentioning, it's obviously a compatibility problem with the card and the game, and probably AMD processors, a mix of hardware.
I'm yet to find a solution other than putting in my old 7800 GT.
Things like this should be noticed during the pre-gold Q/A testing, but it seems Atari quality control doesn't exist, extremely poor development company imo.
Reading your system specs they are nearly indentical to mine, 4200 dual core, etc.

I agree, after doing some more testing the stutters do not _always_ seem related to HDD activity !

What processor (CPU) do you have morster?
My specs:
P4 2.6 GHz
768mb RAM
PowerColor X1600 Pro 256mb ddr2
O.S. - Windows Vista Home Premium
I also have the terrible stuttering, im playing with the lowest graphics settings and i get 10-15 fps, plus sometimes the game just freezes for like 3 seconds, so its simply unplayable.
Any ideas on how to work my way around this?

I've made a new thread about the problem with the G80's, please post in that thread instead, so we can keep it specific to our problem.
In your case daC0STA its not only the game.
2 GB RAM should be the MINIMUM for Vista!
How much is left for the game? 100 mb?
Your swapfile is permanently in usage...
Well if thats the problem then the solution is also easy, ill just buy another gig and hopefully the problem will be solved. Tks for the quick reply weesni

Yes your problem is definitely going to be RAM related, Vista and TDU running with 768MB? no chance.
i have core duo t7200, 1gb ram, gforce go 7900gs 256mb
i have high fps in game but sometime it freeze for a sec and i crash with my car madred: if i set a lower video setting the problem is the same
heeeeeeeeeeeelp rolleyesa rolleyesa
I'm glad I'm not the only person with poor performance issues. I just got this game the other day and it runs like ****. Can't drive at high speed because it just jumps and stutters all over the place. Turning corners.. you can forget about it. Will the patch fix these issues?
With the spec of my PC I was expecting to be able to play this game fluidly.
edit* I don't even take this game online.
My spec:
AMD Athlon 64x2 4200 (with AMD duel core optimizer installed and running)
nVidia 7600 GT (256mb) Forceware 93.71
2 Gig Ram
XP pro
Game settings:
Resolution: 1024x768
Refresh rate: 60 Hz
AA: Off
Brightness: Set to around the middle.
Level of detail: Low

Im using an 8800gts 320mb, there is stutter, but not much. It only becomes annoying during racing, general free driving is fine....around 70-90fps.
XP Pro
E6600
8800GTS 320Mb
2Gb RAM PC6400

Hello all, I have a 6800GS with the latest drivers and I find the stuttering when driving down unexplored roads. Speech and the game stutter, but the HDD is being accessed.
Yet, if I turn around, drive down the road, turn round again and drive back up the same road it is fine ???? Seem's once I've explored a road it's ok to drive up it.
Was thinking it's the hdd being slow :(
