i just installed the game and went to load it for the first time. i can hear the music and stuff, but cannot see anything. all i get is a black screen.

my monitor resolution is 3840x1024, im guessing this might be related.

any ideas?

system:
dual core opteron
2gb ram
nvidia 7600gt

if i lower the res to 1280x1024 the game works fine, but no fun being a small box in the the middle of the screen.

what is the max res the game will support?

Does your graphics card even support that resolution? I know mine doesnt and mines a 7600GT also.

yes it does. the graphics card can do it no problem, your monitor has to support it before you have that option to goto that resolution.

its actually the 7600gs, but not a big difference there.

if i change the resolution to 1280x1024 the game plays perfectly. i guess my hope is that a future patch will allow the game to run in this widescreen mode.

Jusging by my calculations you are running 3 monitors at the same time... Knows as surround gaming. If the game doesn't support this it's not likely it will in the future...

Actually, the game supports 3840x1024, but the menu screens go black if the OS desktop is set to that resolution. You can still choose this resolution for the game, as long as the desktop is set to 1280x1024. Then the menus too work ok.

As I said in my thread, weird... :/

Just realised I needed to update my reply on the triplehead here as well, and not just in my own thread.

Me, I am perfectly happy with my triplehead. I got it running just fine with most of my games, although some need a bit of tweaking. I wouldn't recommend getting rid of it, quite the contrary. It's fairly cheap and lets you get a great overview of your game. Most likely, more and more games will support widescreen resolutions too.

With the analogue version it is very important to set it up correctly though, since it might strain your eyes prettey severely otherwise. I had really bad headaches and other nasty symptoms until I got it set up right.

Anyhow, I have realised that TDU too works great with TH2G. However, the screen goes black, just as it does for so many others, including non-TH2G players. BUT, if I wait a while, about a couple of minutes, the menu loads just fine. The game itself runs very smoothly att 2400x600 with 4xAA, as long as I don't have my MS FF wheel connected.

Hope that helps, while we are waiting for a patch... :)

Good luck!
Roger

nightwolf dude take some advice from someone who had triple head to go mate get rid serious get rid.... looks good but hey your giving yourself more hassle than you need to be honest...i wont be getting rid of it, im happy with it. had it since it came out. and games arent my main use, this the first game ive bought in years. the system is mostly running applications, which ive never had a problem with on the th2g. and i have a nice stand for 3 monitors, one base ;)

Hi Razor!
Well, that's where you seem to have misunderstood things a bit. First of all, it is quite common that the TH2G does show more, but you have to set the FOV up correctly. Otherwise it will just stretch the image. Just check out http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9056 and you'll see an example of larger view in TDU. Another nice example of this is Rainbow Six LV: http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8141

Secondly, you say that so few games support it and that is a bit misleading too. It is more a question of few games supporting widescreen resolutions, since the TH2G is just perceived as a single monitor by the OS. The TH2G itself doesn't have to be "supported"

Also, I disagree that few games support widescreen, although it can take a bit of fiddling with ini-file sometimes. A good source for finding out how to use widescreen with games is the Widescreen Gaming Forum at: http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum/index.php?sid=a72fe7809fc44e69ba659f237b8e34c4

Still, as with all changes regarding technology, I agree that there could be more games that natively support widescreen, but I am also convinced that almost all high profile games will support it in the future. Especially since it is not related to the TH2G, but rather widescreen monitors, which are more and more common.

Also, one large selling point for me is scale. Just compare the actual physical experience of the size of the cockpit in a flightsim, with three 19# monitors, compared to having a single. That and my TrackIR ProVE makes it easy to both fly and drive as I get both great peripheral vision as the possibility to look around.

So, although I respect your views regarding the TH2G, it seems to me as if you perhaps should have given it a little more time. :)

Cheers!
Roger
