View Full Version : DLC #3: Feeling like i've just been robbed.

Okay so when I originally bought this game on launch day I had high hopes for it but due to the erratic handling when playing with the wheel I just didn't like it & only got as far as Expert level before it was consigned to the bottom of my gaming pile.
Then I heard about the update for the FF & I got my hopes up again that this mght improve the game & couldn't wait for the update...after many weeks of waiting & delays I then find that rather than it just being a regular update I am forced to buy DLC to get the FF working. So I end up getting both the car pack & the Hardcore mode seeing as hopefully I was gonna end up spending some time on the game anyway...so imagine my surprise that before you can use the new Hardcore mode you have to be at Champion status...WHY?!!!
This was supposed to be a simple update to allow people with the M/S wheel to enjoy the game as it was intended but no, you now have to do a load of races, mileage, whatever, to get the achievements to rank up to the required level in the same handling mode that stopped me playing it in the 1st place.

I'm sorry Atari / Eden / whoever came up with this ridiculous idea, but you have made a big mistake with this one as it defeats the object of people like me who love to just cruise around online with my mates without having to do boring single player races to "level up". I feel as though I have been tricked into wasting money here as if this would've been announced before I bought it I wouldn't have bothered & just traded the game in for something else but you have completely fooled myself & no doubt others into parting with their money under false pretenses. I will be making a complaint to Microsoft about this (not that they'll be bothered) as not only do I want my money refunded but it must also be clear that this kind of thing mustn't be allowed to happen again.

Your's extremely peed off,

Duff Man D

Oh man wherever this notion comes from that to get FFB for your wheel actually requires you to buy the DLC pack I'll never know. The FFB update for your wheel is FREE with the latest update/patch. Hardcore mode is what costs and even then it's only 160MSP and you don't have to buy it but it was developed for the wheel and many wheel users like it.

You buy DLC #3 for the cars, nothing else, it even says this all over this board and there's several threads about it plus in the descriptions on the Marketplace it tells you what each download contains so why do people have a problem with this when it's clearly described here and on the Marketplace. :mefiant:

Also it's been known since late last year that you need to be a Champion to unlock it.

Sorry you feel the way you do but it's not Atari or Microsoft's fault as the details are clear on what you get with the downloads, a search would've revealed all or even a quick glance at the stickies. :)

Listen Diablo, I don't look at these forums regularly I have just been waiting patiently for the update, switching my 360 on for the past month or so waiting to see the "update available for this game" message without success. Then when I finally see that the update is available in the Hardcore mode DL which was announced over at ForzaCentral in the TDU section, there was no mention that it was also available as a free update initially, this only came to light after I had paid for the DLC...I went ahead & downloaded both DLC's anyway & it was only when I switched on afterwards that the "update available" message came on & this could've been for anything as it doesn't state what the update is for specifically. My main gripe is why do you have to be at a certain level for the FF to take effect? This should be accessable to anyone who has the wheel regardless of what level you are at...it shouldn't even be an issue. It's ridiculous that if you are not upto Champion level you are forced to work your way upto it in the same twitchy mode that spoilt the game in the 1st place before you can finally enjoy this Hardcore mode. :nono:

btw, this wasn't made clear on the Marketplace as you still have to download & pay for the Hardcore mode anyway for the FF to take effect no? If this isn't the case & I have been trying without success to play this game on Expert level since the update then it is a very poor rendition of simulating FF as the handling is still terrible.

Why are you so ignorant?

The FREE update that comes up when you load the game - this included FFB.

Then there was the DLC. This is purely extra cars.

Then there's Hardcore Mode -a simulator handling thing.

You got confused and messed up because of your own ignorance. mdr1

What's ignorance got to do with anything. Keep your stupid comments to yourself, i've made my point & the reasons as to why this is a ridiculous idea...fair enough I may have not seen the info on here before I went ahead & downloaded it which was my mistake but apart from posting at FC I have rarely seen this website & the info on Marketplace DID NOT state that FF was available as a free update, only that it was available as DLC with the Harcore mode...pillock.
...& my comments on why you have to be a "Champion" level racer before you can access HC mode stands...it should be available to anyone who plays the game regardless of what level you are at. Whats the point in having it if you have to get to a certain level using the old handling mode...it's not a very well thought out way of making things accessable to all gamers, it's just forcing you to persist playing despite hating how it currently plays.

You're type of reply doesn't surprise me seeing as you have over 5,000 posts on here...clearly a fanboy of the highest order.

You just don't read very good do you, & you call me ignorant...what a tool.

As has now been cleared up, thanks to Diablo, the FF update was free. Fair play, I went ahead & excitedly downloaded the DLC before switching the game on 1st & doing it from the game marketplace instead of the dashboard marketplace. Does the FF work without the Hardcore mode? No...do you have to pay for the hardcoremode?, yes. Therefore the FF is useless without paying for Hardcore mode...is this sinking in?
It's sneaky & uncalled for, the FF should be available in any mode & be available to everyone for free as was promised many weeks ago & not be included in some underhand way that you end up having to fork out money to get the update to work properly.

You sound like the kind of guy that seems to think he has some sort of alliegance to Atari for some bizarre reason. They're just a game company not your personal friend. There's nothing strange about complaining when you feel you've been ripped off by someone...it's called consumer rights & has been going on for years mate. If no one complains then they'll continue to use sneaky tactics to take money off you...dick.

Duff you have the FFB patch but you might not have it activated as it isn't afaik labelled well in the options; First you have to enable the wheel then the Linearity is the strength of FFB and Rumble force is well just the Rumble force. Ask around and I'm sure a few people will give you tips on setting the wheel up optimally.

Also FFB does not only become available at Champion, that's Hardcore mode, FFB should be available from the off. FFB is FREE with update #3, there is no need to purchase Hardcore mode (HCm) in order to have FFB. HCm is developed for the wheel especially to give a more realistic sense of driving in TDU, it is not required to have FFB. That make sense?

Also: I'm pretty sure I responded to Skate Zilla about the FFB being free over at Forzacentral ;) It's easily missed though so don't worry about it.

Glad you think being taken for a mug is hilarious fella. I don't wanna get into a slanging match with some no mark but I would like someone who knows what they're talking about, not a moderator or an uber sad poster, but a person from Atari to expain why the free update is useless without paying for seperate DLC?
I'll continue to post until I have a genuine answer.

Well if that's the case Diablo then I fail to see the difference other than the oversteer is now completely ridiculous. Clearly, as it says on the Marketplace, the FF update was made specifically for the wheel combined with the Hardcore mode & just having the update alone barely makes a difference from how it played previously.
C'mon mate, just take off your rose tinted specs for a minute & tell me that this isn't a rip off?

Duff that is exactly why this thread is here: http://forums.eu.atari.com/showthread.php?t=51835

Users with a wheel giving their feedback on what is the Good, the Bad and the Ugly of the FFB and/or Hardcore mode with the Wheel. Also try not to get dragged into petty squabbles with people, I know you're better than that.

I cant believe the direction this thread is going in!! Shocking!!

The guy has said he doesn't visit the forums regularly - so how was he to know all the information that we know regarding FFB, DLC and HCM??

Whilst driving around, i've heard quite a few people who have been saying how angry they are about the same thing! Only allowing Champions to get HCM was a silly idea in the first place...

I've been champion for a long time, dont want to get to Ace because I cant be bothered - as DuffmanD said, only play the game now to cruise. Thats also why I didn't get the HCM and wont in the future either...

I DO agree with DuffManD that it was unclear to customers as to what update is for what etc... If there was an in-game news bulletin which could tell people who dont use the forums this information prior to customer downloading the content, then yes - maybe you could call him ignorant... :mefiant:

I'll try not to mate but you know what it's like, you're a new poster with a gripe & suddenly you're Mr noob & open to all kinds of abuse from the regulars...the need to defend yourself is overwhelming  ...seen it all too often at FC & FM.net (particularly!...see diskreet & the rest of Che's gang...lol!).

Considering the thread titles says you've be robbed (guessing by Atari/Eden/Microsoft) for buying content that doesn't even give access to the features that you want. :/

But instead of just saying dammit what a waste of 160ms point I only wanted FFB you go on moaning and just complaining about things you didn't even car about before. Then blaming the companies for these features and its not to "your" standard. Its there game they make it how they want, if they want to create content to make the customer extremely happy they will do that, if they want it for money they do it that way :P

We can't control what they do we just live with it. If something messes up for learn to live with it. But all this over £2?

That'd be more like, "when do I not play COD?" ...I'm on that or Battlefield 2 most nights with a couple of my mates...well until Forza 2 comes out anyway. If you're up for a game of War of CTF send me an FR (Duff Man D) & you'll see me knocking about no doubt. :wink2:

Maxi, you're missing the point...i've been waiting for the FF update for a long time...the Hardcore mode was unexpected. Now when they say that H/c mode is designed specifically with the M/S wheel in mind I get the sense that this could've been included with the FF update for free seeing as it's pretty much useless as an update for the pad alone. What's the point in having extra FF if the handling is still the same? There was some element of FF before the update & I could actually play the game for a few hours without getting frustrated but now it is just down right annoying. And the cost is irrelevant, it's still a rip off imo no matter how much it is & if your attitude is "well I guess i'll just have to like it or lump it" then you're in for a hard time later in life when it's your own money that's being taken & not your Dad's.

in short

the recently rleased 'title update #3' was free

this updated included Force feedback

if force feedback does not work on your wheel after the update then something is wrong. HCM will not add, or effect FFB. No purchase nessasary basically.

you were not robbed. you were just unaware of the facts. no?

Are you lot real or what?! Listen to what i'm gonna say closely...the ff patch was free & now works fine thanks to Diablo's advice but I mistakenly thought it was only available with the Hardcore mode as this is what I heard from the forum at FC & it also says it's included when you go to purchase the H/C mode DL on the marketplace. I downloaded it 1st & then loaded the game up which is when I then saw an update...this could've been for anything as far as i'm concerned as it doesn't say what it's for...ok so far. What it also says on the DLC is that it is specially made with the wheel in mind & combined witht the FF offers a far better experience. I want both obviously but you can't use the H/C mode until you reach Champion....

Haha, I get jack for my family money wise all I get is accommodation. I can see where you are coming from and upto the last comment I could have agreed but you have missed my pint :/

Yet without me getting any help money-wise I'm still able to but alot HDTV 360, many games etc and stuff I want. Why? How? Because I use my head and mouth for alot more than just moaning. I had to fight for alot of things and I know where action needs to be taken and this isn't a case as there really is nothing your gonna get out of it apart from being devastated that you have wasted all your time trying to make justice.

I don't believe TDU was ever designed to be used with any wheel since the driving style is very arcady and limits (very poor for a wheel). But at least they tried abit but with the result they came up with is shocking and yes it was probably better if they left FFB out of normal mode and just kept it for Hardcore. Its a quick job that should of been out when the wheel came out and has probably been sitting there waiting for hardcore mode to be finished since. But really to enjoy the FFB you need HCM :D
