I've got sound only in the left speaker ingame. I've been using Windows XP x64 Professional and I've turned down the sound acceleration tab in dxdiag and it worked well then, but now I'm using Windows Vista Business Edition and the sound acceleration tab is gone in dxdiag !

How to fix this ? Please HELP !

My soundcard is: Realtek High Definition Audio

if you're using a realtek onboard audio chipset with surround sound support, set it to quadraphonic. for some reason, TDU is in compatible with the realtek HD audio chipset in stereo mode, thus the sound only coming out of the left side. hope this helps.

Strange... I have realtek but not this problem, just the standard issue trouble with TDU sounds... I have to set it to 5.1 in order to get rid of the crackling sound. That may help you too...

I had the same issue, but the prob was fixed after the *drum roll* PATCH. mdr1

One other thing I can think of to try is, like was mentioned before(violinsux) kinda, have a looksee in the "advanced" settings of the soundcard and turn off the "sub"/3d support. If i'm not mistaken this caused a problem for me in in other games as well.
