View Full Version : Poor Performance

Another thread regards poor performance I'm afraid :noooo:
I've been waiting eagerly for months for TDU and at the moment I'm very disappointed. Gayspy log-in will not work (TDU servers down so it says) and the FPS performance is frankly making this game unplayable.
12x10 resolution with detail set to medium and it looks like a slideshow. Every other game/sim I have runs very well on my system (even SM3 games like Rainbow 6 Vegas) but TDU is terrible.
System:
P4 3.6HT
2GB DDR400
X1950XTX 512MB (drivers updated)
Audigy 2
G25
TrackIR 3
I have tinkered with the Catalyst settings in the ATI panel to try help but with little effect. Even reducing the resolution doesn't have that much difference!
:mefiant:
If anyone has any suggestions I would be grateful!

Hey
Im running as follows:
P4 3GHZ Prescott
2GB DDR400
X800XT PE
Live! 24Bit
ATI Cat 7.2, all settings on balanced, res is on 1680*1050, GFX on medium, runs well, only occassional slow down, mainly in cities.
Check your settings, maybe your system is too clogged, need a format?

Do you have HDR enabled? What drivers are you using for your Radeon?
It should run vey well. At least without HDR (HDR is really not optimised well enough for use, at least on sub-killer rigs). :)

Thanks for the response guys :)
HDR is not enabled. Odd thing is, even if I lower the in game graphics to the very minimum it still stutters quite bad :noooo:
Something amiss with my system then I guess. I've done some housekeeping and everything appears to be in order.
Only TDU gives me this headache!

Hi,
Check this:

Thanks for the link. I spotted this earlier but did not apply it as I have the Logitech G25, not MS.
So far, for the 5 or 6 hours I've been working on trying to get this game working (this evening alone), I've re-installed Windows (twice), purchased and run a new registry clean up tool, uninstalled a large amount of redundant software/games, de-fragged (Windows says not required) and now have an inoperable Norton Internet Security package (not a clue why this is suddenly stopped working).
Guess what? ZERO improvement.
All my drivers are up to date and I've checked/double checked for any virus/trojans etc that might eat up memory/CPU: nothing at all. I've been jumping in and out of the game all evening after each stage/tweak with *very* little to show for it, performance wise.
I'm convinced after doing so much work (and owing to all my others games working fine) that my PC is not the problem here, which can only mean TDU is. It's probably no coinsidence that *so many* people are reporting similar problems........
Patch, please.
Sorry, this may be real stupid, but did you try with the wheel unplugged? Drive with the arrow keys? Does it help?
Just to see if it is a FF problem, and not... 'something else'.

I didn't try it, but will tomorrow and let you know the result.

Yep, improvement with the G25 unplugged
Still has a choppy frame rate when used with TrackIR but at least it's playable.
Isn't this what *BETA* testing is for? rolleyesa

Indeed. Someone, somewhere, knows that the game was released buggy like this, and did nothing. Probably for a reason that has something to do with money.
You have a recent wheel, so it really is a general FF problem.

Ok, quick update.
With my G25 & TrackIR unplugged, I can run this game at 12x10, 2xAA with HDR enabled and get pretty good playable frame-rates, even in built up areas.
Problem looks to be a USB device driver issue as suggested on countless threads now dark:
Let's hope the boys at Atari can give us a fix soon :)
