First of all, sorry if my english isn't correct.
I am from Belgium and the dutch atari community didn't help me for the moment.

i have bought Top Spin for the pc.
Installation went perfect,
but then when i wanted to play a match, the problems started...
I got up to the court, wanted too serve...
And the game crashed,i got an error from topspin.exe
I saw in the directory of the game an textfile with
"check direct show video has failed
Ŕ˙ cannot currently be played on this system
you need to install the latest version of Media Player"
I have windows media player 10,
My pc is an pentium 4 ,
256ram,
ati radeon x800pro with the latest drivers for it,
directx 9.0c
i don't know what to do!
i hope you guys can help me quickly...

Is your DirectX in full working order? (Try running dxdiag)
Do you have the latest drivers from ATI?
DirectShow is not one component of Windows; rather, it is a whole group of components. These include your video drivers, Windows Media Player, DirectX, and Internet Explorer. Please make sure that all of these are up to date. It is highly recommended to obtain video driver updates either from the computer manufacturer, or from the website of the video card maker.
I personally had a lot of issues with WMP10 and have changed back to 9... rolleyesa

I'm no genius but they just released a new media player, would that be 11 or 10?
I'd recommend what Fluxx said....

I see. I have 10 myself...anyway...
Could it be your gfx card? What are the requirements for the game? I would make sure you have the latest drivers....
I had problems with Guild Wars a while back and I thought I had the latest drivers, but I didn't,once I got the new drivers it worked fine! Not that helps your situation, but whenever you think you have the latest drivers they always seem to release new ones...

requirements for graphics :
nvidia geforce 3 (64Mb) or Ati radeon 8500 (64mb) or higher [i got ati radeon x800pro]
the driver i have is :
http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp/radeonx-xp.html
Its the latest driver on the ati-site,i would be suprised if there is a newer one.

If your friend can play it with WMP9 it might be worth a try unistalling WMP10 and reinstalling 9......... :mefiant:
