game does not ask for a cdkey

i need the game 2 ask me for a cd key. just got it today i can play sp without a key.....i had a friends version on before but uninstalled that and it deleted the cdkey.txt file in C:\documents and settings\%your username%\local settings\application data\test drive unlimited. but now when i install it it doesnt ask me for a key and it doesnt create that directory....ive tried many ways for it to ask for a key but it doesnt....help

im guessin you had a "copied" version when you say a "friends"?

as far as i know the game dusnt create any such file or directory with the proper retail version, mine certainly hasnt.

it should ask you for a cdkey when you create your profile at the beginning, make sure you tick gamespyid to create it as an online profile.

it asks you after that if i remember correctly.

its actually in that directory....its all sorted now.....just find it hard 2 connect 2 races

I had this bug as well, I still had my beta profile in place, which had the beta cd key and the like as well. Installed the retail copy of the game, and it didn't ask for a cdkey, had to mess about removing the profiles to get it to work.
