View Full Version : Where is the "Massive" part in TDU?
Ello all
I was wondering what part of this Massively Open Online Racing game would be the Massive part.
For weeks i have been playing online and i have ony seen up to 8 players at one time but to be honest its more like 2 or 3 most times.
I understand 8 is the limitation of the Xbox360 but why cant the pc-version have more?
Any racing game will give us 10 to 35+ drivers on a server/game so my guess would be about 10 to 20 for TDU would be reasonable to code but for us racers an immense depth into the gameplay.
Also the online code does not work very well (to put it mildly)
at first i thought it was the many filters i used that would screw things us but thats not it.
The game refreshes itself way too much or just loses it all together so in effect we lose players on the map all the time. they are there one minute and the next they r gone.
Racing others (challenges) works well but as soon as you exit the race and return to the map they are gone.
using your map to check out anything and return? they are gone.
standing next to them on a road, chatting for a minute? gone.
The Massive part i guess, would be the 1600+ gamers on the servers every night as the game claims but if you cannot interact with anyone then it aint massive. its hardly an online game imo.
This is my first post here and i realy didn't want to start bitching right away so i'll leave with saying that i think TDU is an excellent game, very well implemented and suprisingly nice physics for an arcade-ish racer.
TDU is a welcome change from sim-racing and i just can't put it away so kudo's Atari :)
Yes, all of that is unfortunately true... and It almost gets worse when you want to meet some specific friends online to race.
I bet cruising is cool, but is a very high risk, because they could be gone after a while or when they take a simple lool at the map... very bad.
We are praying desperately for a "massive" patch from Atari to make the game what it suppose to be... :p
Don't let us down Atari... again. :atari:

Well, once again we come to the part where 'Massively Open' and 'Massively Multiplayer' are two completely different things. Massively open refers to the near boundless opportunities you have for online racing out and about on the island. :)
yeh we want more people on the viewable server!!! plus a car chain of 20+ cars racing down highway would be awesome!!! massive cruising

Finding someone specific is tricky, but you can Lock on someone while you see eachother in the game and they wont be gone after a few minutes

The big problem is to see them... :noooo:
i have my brother marked as a friend in TDU and we allways try to find eachother. And we do, but its pointless realy cus if we spend an evening goofing arround together i'de say 70% of the time is waiting for the other one to apear again.
Ok Nekobaka , i dont wanna get into such a discussion. the main point is that we want a stable online experience with at least 10 visible cars at the same time.
if TDU would have all 1600 players visible it would be fun for about 5 minutes but become rapidly unplayable tonguegre

i'd Hate it if they put more online drivers in i'm alreay sick of people with mics listening to loud music and broadcasting it to my pc,i'd rather hear my engine and wheel spin
No Boombox,No Bodykit,No Bullsh*t
i totaly 100% agree with the first post, exactly how i would say it.
i hope atari makes this patch soon :atari:

Benson, with one click of a button in the options menu you lose all voices etc. just disable the input thats all.

but then i get no chat thats what it's there for not for pirate radio stations
there should be a click to talk so that the mic is not on at all times.i have been playing Battlefield 2 since it came out and Kids are ruining it i have no doubt that the same will happen to this game i would prefer to pay for online gaming to keep the children away
yes if u are using the mike as well i see your point.
Have you tried ignoring the player? we can ignore them if we scroll trhough the free-ride players list.
dunno exactly what it is suposed to do though.

All I can hear is a rather distorted noise, like my 80's CB rig  I assumed it was something to do with mic chatter so turned it off in the settings, I suggest you do the same mate!
Now I have undisturbed miles in my Maserati 90th Anniversary Edition GranSport (God I love that car!)
