Hi all, just wanted to say that I got the game today (came out yesterday) and YES it is free roam where you can see other cars pointlessly driving around. However, I reccommend waiting a few weeks before getting it cause at the moment not many people have the game so the amount of people online isn't a lot. Also, chances are that if you do come across someone online, they'll probably want to drive into you, cause that's what they do.
Oh and:
- You can drive off road. It slows you down, but it sure is fun!
- There is NO downloadable content
What's unfortunate though is that the manual doesn't explain much and only really has ten pages based on the different game modes. It tells you how to send invitations to race against other opponents but it doesn't tell you how to accept invitations from others. Also, if you suddenly lose your internet connection, you're given the option to play offline. Chances are that you'll probably have a three-level police wanted rating, because you've probably taken the advantage of crashing into signs and road cars while playing online.
By the way, in the game, playing online means that there is no police. Playing offline turns on the police. Annoying ain't it?
Good for everyone though, you don't need to pay to play online, all you need is a wireless connection. What's really cool is that when you purchase a car, you can tune it up at special garages across the island. Also what's cool about it is that it automatically tunes the game time to your psp's clock so if you're playing at, say, 9pm, it will be nightfall...and if you're playing at 6pm it will be sunset,etc. Anyways, enjoy the game. It's is definately by far the best PSP racing game there is in terms of graphics, loading time and gameplay.
