Hola fans!

I just wanted to let 'yall know that i run TDU on a PC with the following specs:

AMD Athlon XP 2000+ @ 1667 Mhz;
MSI KT4V Motherboard;
512 MB DDR 400 memory @ 400 Mhz
Ati Radeon 9600 Pro 256 MB
Two 7500 RPM harddrives.

I have a very standard casing with only one casefan. (8 centimeters)
The PC temp does not go over 35 to 40 degrees celcius and the CPU temp
does not go over 60 degrees celcius.. (i've worked my Athlon 2000+ to over
90 degrees celcius in my previous casing without crashing)

Everything runs on stock and no overclocking whatsoever.

I run TDU at 800 x 600 at possibly the lowest graphical settings and it runs not too bad;
When i go over 250 KM/H it starts to get all shakey, but that's not that often..
Driving trough the city center is a whole other story though.. Then the game
starts to get anoyingly shakey and unplayable.. Also playing online tumbles
down performance alot.

I think if the shakey (stuttering) problem everyone is talking about gets fixed,
Atari may lower their minimum system specs to the ones i mentioned above...

What i'm trying to say is that apart from the stuttering problem everyone knows
about, the game runs quite nice; Even on low end systems, way, waay below
the system specs on the cover of the game.

Really too bad the game is all shakey like that because i can't win races like this;
Fix the stuttering and Bandit (SixUp) here is all happy!

Bandit aka SixUp

PS: I DO find the current system requirments WAY too high;
Those specs are only found on brand new PC's and i kind of feel myself humiliated because of these insane requirements... :nono:

I agree, the specs on the box are insane, only really hardcore gamers have those sort of specs!
But guys, think about this: TDU is an Xbox 360 game converted to PC. What does that say about the future? Could this mean that all 360 games that are converted to PC will be like this: almost unplayable?

The good thing is that with the system requirements you can play with decent looks, which I find preferable by far to the practice of putting up the absolute minimum required to even start the game.

The game is way too demanding, true. I'm fairly certain that with some more refining they could have pulled off a much less demanding game. But I guess that comes from it being an XBOX port... not much need for tweaking performance to thousands of different specs there.

What you have to consider is that the xbox360 is a dedicated gaming machine that has very capable system specs. The 360 has 3 cpu cores all capable of 3.2ghz now how many pcs do you know that have that? It may only have 512mb of system memory but its very fast GDDR3 (the same as on most new video cards) and the 360 does not have to use its resources running a bulky and in-efficeint operating system in the background.

So next time you hear someone say well its just a xbox360 port take into account the amount of work they would have to do to just to ensure it runs on wide range of PC hardware most of which will be less than half the spec of the 360 original. Its not like console ports of the past where the PC was vastly superior to the console (PS2 and XBOX1) which meant the developers had excess power to use on PC versions, they now have to do a lot of optimization which is where things are sadly lacking.

The 360 and in turn the PS3 will currently give any PC a good run for there money, at least till titles like Crysis surface.....

His pc's spec is too low, no wonder it can't cope with the game. I disagree with your assessment of the game design. I think the algorithms works very well, do you play battlefield2? that game has similar graphics quality (ok, better, especially water, but not that much), and is much more demanding than TDU.

If he turns off the blurring and hdr effects i am sure it will run better. Also lower the anitailising if its not off allready

Thanks guys, for all the replies!

What do you all think would be best to upgrade for me to get better performance?

I am very well aware that my whole PC configuration will never ever run TDU
with all those fancy graphics turned on and i just want to play the game and
progress by winning races; I do not care for AA, ultra high textures and very
high resolutions; I don't mind playing on 640 x 480 and i don't mind turning
every single graphical setting to zero; I just wanna race!

That said, i think there should be some room for improving my PC specs,
without having to buy a new PC or upgrading it at the cost of a new PC.

Any advise is welcome!

Grtz,

Bandit (kind of proud being able to play this game on this 'low end' PC)

Hey buddy,

I don't know if you did this already, but there are some INI files out there than can improve the performance... and tips on how to remove the birds and debris, etc...

I think the major issue is your amount of RAM too... it's small even for other games I think...

Well, I run the game on a AMD Sempron 2400+ oc @ 1.9Ghz and with a GeForce 6200 256MB 64bit (only 64bit!!!) and 1.25GB of RAM :rolleyes: and I can have fun with it... off course, in the cities, the performance get slugish but it's playable... and I'm happy with it...

If you play OFFLINE only and want an even extreme hint, there is a way to disable the traffic, but I can say you that the game loses a lot of fun... :(

Hell yeah. I'm PROUD of runing this game on my modest rig, and I only had 2 savegame crashes, but reading the forums, I've learned how to backup my savegame, and now I'm very happy. :):):)

But I don't play online because of my poor connection
