Just seen nVidia have released the new nVidia ForceWare 94.24 drivers on the nVidia site, has anyone tried them and seen if they make a difference?

I just checked the nVidia (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_94.24.html) website and clicked on Graphics Drivers. Yes it should work on your 7600GS and all 7 Series GeForce Video Cards.

WHQL drivers support all the way down to GeForce2 MX. Still waiting for the release notes to see if they have sorted out anything with TDU.

Quick Update

My System:

AMD FX55 @2.6ghz (stock)
2x 6800 GT's overclocked to 420//1110 from 350//900 stock
1gig LL Ram

Game Settings

1280x1024 with 4x AA and High Detail

93.71

Average 22 fps through cityscape and open road using AFR and Quality setting

94.24

Average 23fps through cityscape and open road using AFR and Quality setting

BUT

AFR2 shows massive improvement:

Average 30+ fps through cityscape and open road using AFR and Quality setting.

SFR just crashes machine...needs reset.

So for me a great improvement....solid and smooth.

I'm happy...hope most of you see the same improvements.

What do you meen by "AFR and Quality setting"? I am using 2 6600GT's and I can't get them really optimized for the game. Also Im still using old drivers cos the 93.71 asus drivers made it impossible to have display through my primary VGA. It kept showing windows ONLY(?!) on the 2nd card while bios etc still only shows on the primary card.

Will try the new nvidia driver tomorrow... hope it will just use my primary card as primary card again :p but it would be nice for me to know a little optimizations for TDU cos my CPU and VGA's aren't top of the line.

Hi

A few questions:

1. When you open the nvidia control panel, are you set to run using SLI?

2. Do you know how to change your SLI-rendering settings? As in AFR, AFR2, SFR, Single Gpu etc?

3. Do you know how to check settings in your BIOS?

PM me and we'll talk more.

the new 94.24whql is the slow one on 1280*1024 AA4 AF16,
the 165.01 beta is the fastest driver of them all and has the bes IQ for me
this link should still work: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=62SSG7NR
otherwise take a look in this thread: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=221563

i compared the 94.24 with the 160.03 and the 165.01

take some screens ingame of the different drivers at the same point of the map en take a good look at the road structure, sun shining on the cars etc.
see attached screen, right picture is the 94.24 and the left is the 165.01. (http://www.dutchfightclub.nl/datas/users/1-right%2094.24%20left%20165.01.jpg)
the shimmering/shining on the hoods and the road structure in the left bottom corner, those 2 give the best compare of what the IQ difference is.
the 165 i run at a constant 40fps with a min of 35 and a max of 55.
the 94 only runs at max 38fps on exact the same spots and had a min of 26 and a avg of 29/31fps
all are tested on 1280*1024 4*AA 16*AF and the AA and AF filters optimisations on (setted with nHancer in the game profiles)

with the 94 the hoods almost do not have any schiny effects on it and at the side of the car it's over half of the car and not the full car.
this is what the 165 does for my rig (http://www.dutchfightclub.nl/datas/users/1-realy%20shiny%20side%20of%20the%20car%20165%20driv er.jpg)

System specs:
amd 4000+ @2,8ghz
7950GX2 1024mb @ 550/700
2gig ocz gold series

i've tested all the beta's since the 84 drivers of nvidia, and for a long time the 93,81 beta was my favo, the 165,01 took this place now after lots of tests with one of my clan m8's which has almost the same pc specs

Well!

New drivers show a slight improvement in FPS but picture quality is markedly improved! The shimmer around some hard edges is gone...there is more definition in light and shadow, so all well there.

Thanks for the link to these drivers...much appreciated...I hope to see similar improvements in Stalker etc. :salut2:

hi gents and ladies,

im using the NGO optimized 2.115822 drivers that i got from guru3d. i had the previous edition of them and i was getting random crashes etc, so i downloaded these ones and im seriously not getting any lag from the graphics card anymore.

i had both the 93.71 and the 94.24 drivers installed and both gave me the same quality with there being a little more fluidity from the 94 series driver.

when i switched over ,all of the lag pretty much disappeared as soon as i updated them.

system specs:

AMD athlon 64 3000+ venice
Nvidia/ASUS en7950gt 512mb
gigabyte GA k8nf4-u
1 gig azentech dual channel ddr400 ram
450w seasonic PSU

rright...
The drivers still don't work very nice on my system... :( I still get the stupid 'i just pretend like your second VGA is your primary adapter'-stuff and the performance hasn't improved one bit. The only drivers that let everything work properly still are the 87.41 drivers for me... Though they do provide a little less performance than the 94.24 would if it worked properly.

I am familiar with the technical bits of computers, bios settings, windows settings etc... though i'm not very good at improving video performance and adjusting VGA settings.

I think 6 series SLI rigs just are a pain in the *** when you want to upgrade drivers.

I have 2
128 mb EN6600GT's from asus... they are configured in SLI.

im still deciding about these drivers, yes they are smooth but the frame rates are still spiking quite alot. the 6600GT i had b4 was good with drivers 109.95 but the 7600GT drivers aint as good.

Still need patch to iron out the major bug and gfx spikes

Exactly the same here, I've never had the primary card problem before, but as soon as windows started I loose the display on my primary card and get it on the secondary card - old 93.71 drivers back in, and all is well again. GRRR NVidia.

Well, it appears as though nVidia has reverted back to the 93.71's. At the time of this posting, you can no longer get the 94.24 drivers officially. The old ones are back in their place.

When I go to the official driver download page, (http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp) and search for drivers for my 7900 GT (WinXP), it shows me this page. (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_93.71.html)

I have no doubt that the 94.24's are still on their site for download. It's just that the older ones (93.71) are showing up for the 7xxx series now when I input my configuration.
