Just trying to take some soundings from this board......

Seeing as the club signup thread that I've signed up on seems to have died with no end product, I might want to start one myself.

Drivers, not gamers, welcome. People with a bit of maturity who value keeping the car on the tarmac via skill, not using other cars as braking aids. People who aren't overly bothered with an online ranking and who race each other for the buzz and challenge. People who don't mind driving a variety of classes and cars, and certainly aren't afraid of courses with turns and true tests of driver ability. People who try and avoid their friends' cars when crusing with them instead of bumping them out of the way.

The big one: people welcomed based on their attitude, not their ability.

Anyway, would such a club sound OK to you?

hehe, how can people join if they are not gamers? tdu doesn't work in either of my cars. If you think playing TDU makes you a driver, not a gamer, then you probably need to join a rl car club and go along to track days.

If I wasn't already in a club, I probably wouldn't join this one, it doesn't sound like fun to me.

sounds like a good club prospect
but the club you've applied for (Club RoKeRs) is the same club i've applied for and i know we haven't heard from JumpDawn yet but if you look on the Community TDU website JumpDawn has created the club as far as i can tell so just hold back a bit see if he reappears and tells us what to do.

Still, recent online experiences have hacked me off a bit and I would prefer to drive with like-minded peeps if possible.

Fingers crossed that JumpDawn gets up and running ASAP. I'm just used to adhering to deadlines :respect:

If you start one im in.. All I ever do is drive my TVR around.. I know its not the fastest car, but it out accelerates alot of the A class cars up until 3rd gear lol. Even if it was slower I would car I have passion for this car and just love driving it around and then sliding it into corners, it has a perfect balance so you can whack it into those corners and get a slight but healthy drift due to the power and the great handling, it also makes a great sound which is why my windows are all down. I think im on your wavelength with things.. I only drive cars I like, I dont drive around in a S7 or Enzo thinking im the best because I have the fastest car.. I like to cruise and race for fun, hence no stake. Il keep my eye on this thread :)

Still at the "drawing board" stage, hence this thread. I haven't really tried hardcore mode but I'm sure that any club could cater for both styles. Suits me fine, you can definitely count me in. I only care about recreating a real-life driving environment. I anticipate a lot, i constantly watch out for obstacles, always try to determine how fast the ai cars in the front go, and dont hesitate to slow down if i have a doubt, i (almost) always pay attention to intersections, and i do everything i can to avoid crashes just as i do in real life. Because of this my average speed must be like 80 or 90. Not a lot of folks with average speeds below 200 on oahu roads so it tends to make cruising a bit lonely sometimes. I have only done online races a couple times, and right now my priority is being able to cruise for a few hours without crashing or sliding off the road even once. I'd like to cruise and race like minded folks though, but doing a clean race is more important to me than winning.

That's also why i like HC mode so much : if your style is to floor it all the way to the finish line, turn at the last second without slowing down and use other drivers' cars as launch pads, you wont keep your car on the road for more than 3 seconds. And Spec is right you dont need a G25, i've had fun in HC mode with the X360 gamepad and a keyboard on the PC. The experience is very different from what you get with a wheel, though, however i have a DFP and it's just fine.

I'd love to join a club like yours Walrus, a majority of the groups I have done cruises with always have at least one bad apple whose only objective is to run other players off the road as much as possible. I prefer driving around with a group who sticks close together and at a decent pace, not max speed at all times!

I would love to cruise around with a fair and mature bunch of people so if you set this club up, gimme a shout (Ingame name: LaFoxie)

This sounds like my type of club. If your thing isn’t running a 200MPH+ demolition derby with Class A cars every cruise, pick-up cruises online don’t hold your interest after a while. ;)

This needs an answer.

I DID register on the forum at DGM. I did not realise that this automaticaly made me a member of the ingame "club"! If I missed something in the T&C's, then I'm sorry. Shame the original forum crashed - I'd love to re-read what I said.

I also read some of the threads on that forum and realised that it appeared to be US timezone based. Hence, I didn't post or get in any way involved - fair enough to my mind, as I didn't think that I was actually a member of the actual "club".

Sid, if that's a heinous crime (and the implication of your post is quite clear) then I'm guilty of...........not posting in your forum to say that I am not going to be able to participate due to timezone issues.

Fair enough. Well worth your flame, I'm sure.

Hi all, good cruising about last night even with the occasional syncing in and out problems. It's a bit hard to concentrate on driving in hardcore mode with other people but I kept up alright ish. Then when I changed to wimp mode it took me ages to sync back in with you all, I think because you were moving. Anyway the Caterham was a lot of fun but needs more speed!

This game should really kick off and be fantastic when the patch fixes it all.

Hi all.

Seeing as we have some Hardcore Mode drivers in the club, I want to gauge opinion on the use of driving aids during our cruises (and hopefully races).

I'll hold my hand up right away - I still drive about with the "Hypersport" aid setting. It's a similar thing to the habit of stage 3 tuning every car - I want to keep up with the opposition!!!

However, the pressure to perform (ahem) isn't on when we're driving with the club.......

So I'm suggesting that we try things without driving aids of any description - not all the time, if quite a few of us are used to them - but to get more experience. Then we can take a chance and try some Hardcore Only sessions!

Hi there.

I generally only use hardcore mode if I'm not really interested in speed, i.e just out on a jolly cruise as I am very slow with it. Most of the time I am in wimp mode but with no driving aids. I play using a wheel and used to play GT Legends which was a full on sim so I prefer to have complete control.

I'm still reeling from tuning the Caterham. When the turbo kicked in at higher revs it just wanted to sling me of the road last night. It was very very fun to drive though!

I suggest everyone tried hardcore mode so you can see how tough it is. Myself and Sennia[DE] were flying about a lot yesterday! If we do have a hardcore night then we could go somewhere like Ford Island where there is no traffic to practice. It also has no jumps!

You need to be Expert to go onto Ford Island (good shout Howard) and Champion to use the Oahu Raceway. You also need to be Champion to use Hardcore mode. We don't discriminate because of in-game rank, but we like to check out people's attitudes first!

Driving a AMV8V with no aids in Hardcore mode left my seat with a new brown upholstery but hey it was well worth it.

@ GBFGrouse - You were lagging a lot last night, don't know if there is something up with your router\connection.

BTW - Panzer & BritishBeef after you left we went to the clubhouse (i am now an official member YEY mdr1 ).
Once we left it was just me Wuggizle and LaFoxie and we started to do 180 turns and reverse and we played a game where we had 3 lives, if you crash more than 3 times your out (guess who was out first :nuts: ).

But you missed me having the biggest accident I've ever had in TDU (and thats saying something). Just to give you an idea, here was the aftermath.

I've started adding some bookmarks to help us cruise to otherwise godforsaken outposts of the Island. I don't plan on doing say more than 10 myself and I'll post them in this thread.

If anyone else wants to build the list with their own choices, they can copy/paste the updated list from the last relevant post and add their own bookmarks to the bottom of the list..............and hopefully we'll all end up with a great club list we can all use!

one of the other members cured his problem by his router blowing up and him getting a different router than the bt home hub one,he got alot better connection and saw less badly connected players on line :)

Seeing as all club stuff is FUBARed / still in Beta, we could simply create our own MP races for the number of peeps online together and fill all the spaces up.....the patch will wipe any rankings anyway, so it shouldn't be an issue in that regard.

I can really recommend the Murcielago in hardcore though, even though I've tuned it to s3. Always felt in control, unlike my Ascari and Zonda (for example) that simply don't want to turn in in HC mode.

I was suprised that we were all in HC mode with no aids but we were ahead of most. Being in HC and no aids is more fun as well, highly recommend it to anyone just for fun.

BTW I apologise for my disappearence last night. My Netgear router decided for the first time since i've bought it that it wanted a night off and crashed on me, which probably explains why you were all lagging like mad 5 mins before it happened.

I suppose we can do MP races but we need to tell people in advance where we will be and I would announce which race you will be at on the forums as if you try to tell people ingame you will probably never sync with them lol.

BTW I agree the Murcielago is a great car in HC mode but i wish you could stick the back out a tad more (due to the fact its 4 wheel drive)

Maybe we should rename the club to the "Lotus Esprit Club" :bravo: . Once again I found myself having the most fun behind the wheel of the Esprit and with you all. The 190mph bridge was nearer 215mph for me thanks to slip streaming, I now have scrapes on the roof!

It's a shame about the sync problems, firstly with me joining and then with Beef dropping. Oddly when we were at the Market we could all vanish and swap cars and get back in alright!

I really enjoyed the part of our Wednesday cruise that took us up and over the mountains via the hairpin-filled road. Going to bookmark it and would love to try it in a 4WD in hardcore, as I was fighting the RWD Farboud all the way. Might get the Lambo Spyder out tonight!

i wouldn't worry about it Grouse. That particular cruise my TDU\Internet Connection was being extremly buggy. Firstly it took me 30 goes to sync with you lot sour: .Secondly Foxie had dissapeared (i.e it said on my GPS 3 players were present, Me, Panzer and you) as he was no-where to be seen on my game but i could still chat to him :hin: ? It was only until i resync with you lot at the supermarket car park outside the Pagini showroom that Foxie reappeared. And Thirdly everyone I met that night online was extreamly laggy.

So i wouldn't worry i guess my TDU must have messed up and put you in a yellow ferrari :mefiant:

I was about to ask the same question as in Foxie's screenshot your in a White Lotus so i was a tad confused.

As "point man" with the GPS set to the bookmark, I should have tried to make it clearer when we were going to take a turn at a junction to start with!

A couple of things occured to me. First - we can't afford to take our cruises mega-seriously if there are guests cruising with us. Why? Because they don't know what our informal "Highway Code" is all about. Being taken out by a guest cruiser with all aids on driving in normal mode when you've just nursed your twitchy hardcore mode / no driving aid car through a difficult corner IS frustrating...........but we can't impose our "rules" on other players.

Second - I got a huge rush / buzz from driving on the absolute limit of controlled pace up and down the mountain pass in "sadist" mode (Hardcore, no aids), avoiding all the AI traffic and keeping it out of the barriers. I hope any speed freaks weren't too bored by it! If enough are online, we don't all have to do the same thing - some can burn it up in F1's whilst others can do the twisty turny stuff.

Beefy - I'll race you up and down that mountain pass anytime mate! I was right on the limit all the way and was watching your dot on the GPS like a hawk! First time with the Noble MC12 Gt3 and I'm in love! I'll keep it untuned for cruising.

Lastly guys, I'm quite happy to sit in the pack and follow your leads on cruises if you have a burning need to drive a particular route or car class. Just don't expect me to ease up in the corners if your line isn't as good as mine tonguegre

We don't have a formal meeting place (usually), but if you see any of the regulars in this thread around the Island (either when driving or on the map), introduce yourself and drive along with us.

Foxie or myself are about most nights after 9pm UK, sometimes 10pm start though for me.

Don't panic if we don#t meet up for a couple of days, just get to know the members by driving with them in the meantime.

We are not "Hardcore Mode only", but most of our cruises are done in Hardcore with no driving aids as we like to challenge our driving abilities and try various cars.

My little girl has a gum infection and mouth ulcers to add to her nightly bouts of colic (trapped air pockets that she can't burp up herself). I'm also having to leave home very early to drive to Birmingham for a 10am meeting tomorrow, so I can't promise I'll be on at all tonight. Tomorrow is dodgy too - I'm dreading the drive back through all sorts of rush hour horror and that's assuming that the meeting will finish on time at 4pm :D

Great cruise last night and im really loving manual gearing, adds that extra realism and im never going back.

I know we dont all meet up at once but would like to see more structure in the cruises like assignments. Where a designated person maps a bookmark for that nights cruise or we plan ahead as i feel we do mess around alot ^^ . I'll Leave this up to Panzer and Foxie.

I got bored on auto when GT3 came out.. then I only used manual for all games. If you fellas go back and play a game like GT3 in manual you will see that you are faster and will enjoy it alot more.. adds to the challenge! Although its second nature.. but on TDU it helps the burnouts tonguegre

Anyway a great cruise. I drove around 4 hours and more than 250m tonight in my W12 Coupe. Amazing car that is...

I spent about 20 minutes early tonight following most of the club via the map trying to sync with them too. I saw Grouse and Deeval alone whilst driving and joined them. Luckily, others must have been checking their maps because we soon had a full house!

Shame my PC needed a restart afer my baby-soothing break, and shame it decided to run TDU like a dog.

However........what a time I had inbetween these times!

This is the cruise at the Barber Point Lighthouse, SW Island. This is after our long drag to the NW and the challenging ascent to the observatory, followed by a fast and challenging descent :)

Next up, a run each way through "Hairpin Pass". We thought that BB had made a mess of his chair judging by his in-game chat reaction to the first (mainly uphill) run.......told you that Noble M12 was the business, didn't I mdr1

We then took a steady run at 150 down to the point in the pic. Hope you guys continued to have fun after my enforced departure, wish I was there!

I make no apologies for loving to drive on roads that are.......less than straight dark: Driving on the limits is more thrilling to me in places like "Hairpin Pass", the observatory climb and that sweeping 80-100mph series of curves we did on the road to the NW airfield.

As a cruise leader, I can be a bit "conservative" in traffic near blind curves and hills and habitually change down a gear to keep things neat and tidy - so sorry if you got impatient at times :o

Like I said in-game, if you wait for me to suggest a route, you're going to get bends and tests of your braking and cornering lines. If you want more straightforward cruises, step up with your own bookmark, GPS it and lead on!

Wish me luck on my real-life slog from Christchurch to Birmingham and back tomorrow :cry:

I'm looking to join a club. I'm not Champion yet, I don't adore the Class As (in fact I prefer my Tuscan to my Murcialagno), I don't like crashing into the AI (although I still do on occasion) and I really enjoy the cruising aspect. And not necessarily at break-neck speed either.

Also I'm in the UK and being a grandfather don't like staying up too late... weirdblue 11pm would deffo be PC off time (perhaps a bit later at weekends).

This club business sounds great and after looking at a few posts from others I think you lot fit the bill. How do I go about getting involved?

Last nights cruise was a absoulte hoot :bravo: . Have to admit i may not choose the Farbound again whilst going through the Harpin pass as while it has good handling the back and front ends can swop so easily it was untrue. Fun though :laugh: . But i was glad when i decided to swop to my Noble M12. Man that car is so grippy even in HC and no aids it was unbelievable.

Sorry Foxie and Kitten if I left without warning but guess what failed again...(yes my router again :mad: )

From your earlier post you sound like exactly what this clubs about tonguegre im sure you would be welcome don't worry - that limit is just a idea at the moment and you seem like a genuine person, but wait for Panzer or Foxie to post for full confirmation although I think they will agree! (If ya dont foxie il get you dark: lol). If you want I can meet you and add you as a friend, il re fresh this page every five minutes :)
