Hey,
On my macintosh I can make a disk image of a disk (onto my hard drive) and then play the game without inserting the disk in the optical drive.

I'm as knowlegable with the pc, How do I do this on my pc (windows xp) for TDU? or is this not possible?

Thanks.

PS. This is not about hacking, cracking or running stolen software. Only intended for the original owner.

I haven't made an image of TDU on my pc, as I don't know how. But I would like to be able to play from my purchased original disk by having it on my hard drive so I don't have to always have it inserted. I mostly play online and don't see how this would be a problem for anyone as I own the game and have the original serial number.

by the way, you can make images (.iso) with nero burning rom. just click on make image in stead of burn cd.

but I repeat, I don't think you can play online then with a no cd.... stuff

sounds great:
"DAEMON Tools is an advanced application for Microsoft Windows which provides one of the best optical media emulation in the industry. DAEMON Tools enabling you to use your CD/DVD images as if they were already burned to CD/DVD."

Now, how do I make the disk image to use with D. tools (not so familiar with windows xp)?

Before everyone screams about cracking the game (Oops bit late :D ), I'd like to be able to do this without losing online play, as occationally when I go to launch the game (with my genuine disk in the tray), it'll sit there for a min then ask me to insert a genuine disk. Can take 3-4 times to launch the game sometimes.

As far as i know you cant mate, the copy protection on the game requires you to have the original disk in the drive while playing.
Sorry...

Not true, Alcohol 120% copies over a perfect image that works from the hd, other programs may do it but nero and the like wont.

Will Alcohol 120% copy the image to the hard drive as a useable disk to play on ?

I had to deinstall Daemon tools from my system before I could play TDU.

There is a no-cd fix around but it requires the modification of certain files as well as the .exe and it doesn't work online.

SO just put the DVD in the slot for this one.

That's probably because TDU is protected by a version of the Securom protection that are able to detect if Daemon Tools are running (did you get a screen saying "Emulation software detected" or something like that?).
There are apps available that hides the virtual drives from Daemon Tools, Alcohol, Nero etc., so the protection scheme doesn't detect the blacklisted programs. One such app can even be found on the Daemon Tools homepage.

It works fine here with no apps to hide DT, Im guessing he has an old version of DT that is blacklisted.

I kept opening D. Tools and nothing was happening.
I did see the new "E" drive but could not drop my iso file there.

Oh, okay. Look in your taskbar, just beside the clock, there should be an icon with a red lightning on it. If you left-click on that icon, you can see your active virtual drives, click the one you want to use and select your image-file. If you right-click the Daemon Tools icon instead, you get an extended set of options, such as setting the amount of active drives etc.

No - as stated in the other similar thread I had the latest version of DT.

If you really struggle DT has it's own help forum.

why is it so hard to insert a game disc or whatever into the drives? i dont understand what the problem is, and dont say its cos i might scratch me disc, that old excuse is boring now, if you look after your discs properly they will last.

There's nothing wrong with using images instead of the discs. For me it's just inconvenient to switch discs around. I'm currently playing three games that require the discs to be inserted. I don't wanna be switching between them all the time. The last DVD drive I had broke one of my discs (luckily it was just a useless one) so I'm not risking that sort of thing happening again.

I use Alcohol 120% to make/mount images. Like someone mentioned above, there is another tool you should need which hides virtual drives from being detected.

Many People do play more than One Game at a Time. So that means:

Getting up, get the Game DVD from the cupboard, put the DVD out of the Box, close the Box, open the DVD Drive, put the DVD in, open the DVD Drive, put the DVD out of the Drive, open the DVD Box, put the DVD back into the Box, bring the DVD back to the Cupboard, get another Game DVD, open the Box, try to get the DVD out of the Box, close the Box, open the DVD Drive, put the DVD in it, close the Drive, open the Drive, get the DVD out of the Drive, open the Box, put the DVD back into the Box, put the Game back into the Rack, get the 3rd Game DVD...

I play this game online without putting in the dvd. I use a prog called Y.A.S.U that cloaks drives. Then mount image with latest daemon tools. You can get it from daemon tools website

There has to be some way around it. I have the downloaded version so I never even had a dvd to play with.
