What is the best processorsetting for gaming, Hyperthread on or off?

Depends how much stuff you have running in the background. If you have a squeaky clean PC, and don't run anti-virus, firewall etc. etc. then turning hyperthreading off is slightly better.

However if you have anything running in the background it's best to put it on.

(kalniel edit - this is the PC tech section for players of TDU, obviously it's not the place to get official tech help for computer issues, but users are free to post queries here for other users to help with)

www.amd.com
www.intel.com for info!

If you have hyperthreading you can turn it on or off in your computers BIOS - check your motherboard manual for how to access that. Changing this setting doesn't normally void warranty - certainly it doesn't void the warranty that comes with Intel CPUs.

Hyper Threading is/was a ditch attempt from Intel to add some performance to the Pentium4, which was lets just say rather ineffectively designed core.

Turning off the HT will in most cases (lets say any game made within last 3-5 years) give you slightely to moderately reduced performance. However for older games like Quake3 or UT99 having HT off will provide 2-5% more fps.
