Hi all,

I'm just wondering, am I the only one who can play without bug? I've got vista (ultimate) an I have no problems (I had only two crashs in 3 month, i already had more with other games!).

Already read on a other forum that there was much more problems on xp,
so maybe it was designd for vista not for xp!

time to change people, lol

lol i have the same setup .... vista ultimate (32 bit) ... need to change it to 64 soon !

but it think its down to my computers power not necessarilly the operating system + its hardly got any programs installed on it anyways !

it is a mac pro with boot camp :D

2x 2.66ghz dual cores = 4 cores altogether
2gb ram each with their own heat sink
ati x1900 xt 512mb ddr2 with overclocked memory and gpu
250 gb seagate 7200 rpm hard drive 8mb cache
cooling and kit all standard from apple
30 inch apple cinema display 30 inch (2560 x 1600)

i've heard people say games run 10-20 % faster on xp compared to vista !

Probably because vista is still new, but in time, vista will probably overtake XP on games performance wise.

I run TDU on XP and never had any problem whatsoever with it.

My game runs flawlessly stability wise, but I'm getting pretty poor performance in comparison to other people with the same setup in XP. I'm using a 7600GT with a Core 2 Duo E4300 @ 2.83ghz, but if I apply any AA or go any higher than 1024x768 I get lag (about 20fps). I'm blaming nVidia. They're drivers for Vista are so **** compared to what ATI has.

i have 2 of the 7300gt never used them lol .... told computer to use the ati .... windows doesnt like them lol !

btw ... james ... have you got hdr enabled ... i would recommend disabling ... HDR and AA because this will 100% boast your performance ! .... i dnt use neither and i get 60+ fps ! with either or both i get around 20 topps ! although that was before i clocked my gpu ... mite b a little better !

Thank you for your help, but I don't have HDR enabled either. O well maybe the patch will bring better performance. Or maybe nVidia will release some new drivers which solve my performance woes.

also what else have you got plugged in the pcie slots ... because you may of just accidentally made it not run at full speed ?

i dno ... i doubt the game patch will give a boast in performance that much ...

i would just recommend erm well i dno yet .... tell me about your computer and i may be able to help ?

like how mch ram ? and if you run vista whats your baseline score ?

Well here's the specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 @2.83ghz 1.36v cooled by Tuniq Tower 120 stock fan @1400rpm
Asus P5B Vanilla vmodded 0806 BIOS
MSI 256mb nVidia GeForce 7600GT graphics card @stock
2GB Corsair Valueram DDR2 677mhz CL5 @628mhz CL4
250GB Western Digital Cavair Special Edition 16mb cache
20x Liteon Dual layer SATA DVD Burner
500watt Silverstone ST50EF power supply
17" Sony SDM-HS75P LCD Silver and Philips Brilliance 151AX 15inch LCD - Dual Display
Thermaltake Aguila case Black with stock fans
Logitech Media Keyboard, Microsoft Optical Mouse and Logitech G25
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit

edit: my vista score is 5.0 and I don't have anything else plugged into the PCI express slots, but I believe that the Gigabit Ethernet and Sound also uses the PCI express lanes. Though I doubt this would make any difference as the 16x PCI express slot still remains at its normal speed.

I have ran it on both Vista and XP, both had the same known issues. Only the sound in Vista was worse, since Creative didn't release proper drivers.

Same thing here , i had it on Xp before , and now on Vista ultimate , but i have to say , in vista it seems to have a almost unnoticeable drop in performance, but got rid of the fuzzy sound.
Now the only major proble i have , is a second of freeze when i hit a car on the road , at high speed ,or sometimes when another player drives by me at high speed.

I have a P4 3ghz Ht, 2Gb 667mhz,asusP5B,7950Gt,samsung 250GB sataII and i run the game at 1280x1024 , 2x antializing, medium details no Hdr could go higher , but waiting for the "u know what" to perhaps improve performance.

I have a question for those who installed the game on VIsta OS.
Do you see TDU in Vista's games folder? I don't mean the desktop shortcut, but the folder where Vista keeps shortcuts to other games (the one where you find Vista's default games, those small card games).
I don't see it there, but a shortcut has been created on the desktop weirdblue

Same thing here. A few other games are shown. Colin Mcrae: DiRT and TDU are not. Quite an interesting feature though.

Up until 60% of the game, it ran fine. NO crashes or visual glitches. The bugs noticed didn't affect playability.

After I played PAST 60%, crashes & visual artifacts were constant. I even changed the resolution from 1280x1024 down to 1176x864 to increase performance (it was great at 120 before the problems started).

Now the game is just a pain in the butt, and I can honest say I don't enjoy it as much. I've been NSF:Carbon a lot more after TDU started giving me troubles.

hmm ... i think maybe if the drivers that you have got for vista for your gpu is not properly working or its subconsciously enabling AA or something ... but i think your specs are well within the range for decent gameplay without problems !

incorrect driver possibility ( less ram that it should need ) e.g. my ati is only 512mb but it has 1.5gb ram :O .... its uses the actual ram to increase its overall ram size :P

Intrestingly Enough,I have no problems what so ever in Vista. I just built my computer about 2 days ago and am very impressed on performance.

Specs
EVGA nForce 590 SLI Mainboard
AMD Athlon X2 4600+ 2.3ghz
2GB DDR2-800 Crucial Balistix
250GB 7200rpm HDD
Nvdia 8600GTS 256mb GDDR3
Dell 17' Flat Panel
Samsung Writemaster Super Combo Drive
Vista Home Premium 32 Bit

I can now run TDU at 1280x1024 with Max Detail,4xAA,HDR ON and have 40 FPS where ever i go. It runs much better on Vista than it did on XP ( which is weird :mefiant: )

hmm ... i never ever use the hdr and AA because its such a sacrifice of fps for little image quality !

I'm experiencing known bugs :( my machine:

ASUS P5N-E SLI, nforce 650i
2 gb DDR2-800 ram
geforce 7900GS 256mb GDDR3
Raidmax ninja case (520w ps)
400gb HD
logitech cordless desktop MX3000
pioneer DVR-212 dvd rewriter
vista home premium 64bit
32" samsung lcd tv

my quoted chip was an intel core 2 duo E6300 (1.86ghz, FSB 2mb L2 Cache) but at the time of purchasing the parts they were out of stock but had the chipset for the newer one that was superceeding my quoted one. it has the 'conroe' core and has 4mb on onboard cache.

If you only play like an hour in one go, it's fine. If you play a lot, it crashes often. I had 3 save game killing crashes in a week on XP Pro and then I gave up. :p I have the usual nVidia flickering glitch at starting of the game, but changing resolutions fixes that. Then it playes just fine considering the hardware, no other glitches, other than the crashes to the desktop (with messed up desktop sometimes) and the save games corrupting on me.

Nope, it doesn't appear there on mine either. Neither does Stalker by the way. Apparantly, Microsoft are just extremely slow at updating their game definition server, or something..

XP, no problems. I do have some bugs, but they are all minor things like rev counters and stuff not working properly.

Actually, is the game that needs to register itself in the Vista Games folder, and not create useless shortcuts on the desktop or freaking start menu :nono:

Not necessarily. Older games from before Vista, actually gets added automatically at first launch, - if they appear in Microsofts database.

I've just installed The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and it didn't put a shortcut in the games folder at install time. Instead, Vista detected the game when I launched it, and added a shortcut by itself.
Dark Messiah, Black & White 2 and lots of other games follow the same pattern.

But yeah, new games, especially those under the Games for Windows campaign like Halo 2, C&C3, Lost Planet and Tomb Raider Anniversary, do add themselves to the games folder.

I have a Compaq (First Problem) Presario SR2030NX (Second Problem) with TDU and the Mega Pack installed. I am only getting about 6fps and I have everything to the minimum quality. My Computer has 1gb of ram (Third Problem), a 2.4 Gigahertz Processer (Fourth Problem), it is running XP MCE, my GPU is an nVidia 6150LE, my processer is an AMD Athlon 64 - 3800, I meet the sys requirements and am getting, as mentioned above, only 6fps, I end all unused services, and processes, and have my theme down to classic. Why am I getting so crappy quality besides the numerous problems stated above? How can I fix this? And finally, What should I get to increase performance (please list products)? Thanks, Jorden M.

Don't the system requirements say you need a 6600GT or something? How is a 6150LE better than a 6600GT?

Anyway, that's your problem - you need a proper graphics card.

Hey Jorden ,

Even if the Minimum Req. are there , unfortunately TDU does not really respect them :)
Also , a 2.4 AMd and 1gb ram are not cutting it anymore :(
Uh , and the 6150LE is about as fast (slow) as a GeForce 3 Ti500. (nVidias fastest card in 2001...)

All my games play fine in Vista, if not with a few more FPS than in XP, but that could've been down to different driver versions in each OS.

Vista is also better since, in the event that the game does crash, you can just press Win+L or Ctrl+Alt+Del and kill the process and go back to your desktop and start again. In XP you're pretty lucky to get away without having to use the reset button on your PC.
