hi guys, I've seen this site for the first time today. I'm glad I'm not the only one having problems.

This is a fantastic game but I can't get the force feedback to work on my USB Microsoft SideWinder Force Feedback wheel. The wheel is physically OK because I've tested it using the software that comes with the wheel. Anyone else had the same thing?

I've also found that the games regularly crashes when navigating in and around the 'controller' menu.

I am using the drivers shipped with my PC parts so I guess I'll have to try updating them.

My setup is:

Athlon 950
512mb RAM
Quantum Ultra 160 hard disk
21" Sony G500 monitor
SB Live Platinum
GEOFORCE 256 23mb DDR
MS SideWinder Force Feedback wheel (USB)

Any ideas?

I also had an incident yesterday where I crashed into the barrier really hard and the game crashed.

A lot of people is complaigning about the
force feedback but as many others guys in this forum i have to say that as many who like me have logitech whells the problem is with microsoft wheel, not the force feedback.
I dont know if is possible to increase the
"power of the force" in your wheel.
If not my advise is to buy a logitech formula force.
Is the best, cheers

Thanks for taking the time to reply, but having paid £130 for the MS wheel I think I've spent enough on PC wheels for the time being.

I tried the Logitech wheel and it didn't feel anything like as good as the MS wheel.

Oh well never mind

Surely you posted this just to bragg over your system spec. Truely unreal!!!

Is it only the force feedback that isn't responding, can you edit the controller config to select different buttons for handbrake, gear up/down etc.

The config has the option to turn FF on or off

Best of luck, although to have such a machine you must be full of it..

Sorry if my post looked like a boast - it was not intended as such. I just listed the main components that may be causing problems, I guess the monitor and CPU clock speed are irrelevent though.

I've checked the config and FF is enabled.

I think I need to look closer at selecting reverse. I'll try a manual gear box this evening. If you cannot reverse from a crash with an auto gear box I think that is quite an oversight. There's a few other funnies in there as well e.g. if you retire you get a shot of the drivers out of the car looking disappointed etc.. It appears that the picture does not always match the car you've just driven. I'm sure I'll find other things as well. I'm a software tester and I find it difficult to get out of work mode in the evenings. Sad eh?

I must say that in general the game is generally stable on my system. I found that the demo crashed more often than the full game but that is not necessarily surprising.

the only thing dodgy with your system is the ms wheel. i have the logitech ff and its great, big rubber wheel http://www.fr.infogrames.com/ubb/smile.gif beats that loose plastic **** any day http://www.fr.infogrames.com/ubb/smile.gif by the sounds of your system you have money to burn so go out and get a logitech wheel

i like both wheels though but the logitech is better, i'd have to admit that the pedals on the ms wheel are better.

The MS whell has rubber grips and my wheel is rock solid. I thought it felt a lot more sturdy than the others. You're not on commision from Logitech are you? http://www.fr.infogrames.com/ubb/smile.gif

Anyway the game is still great. When was it released and does anyone know if there are any plans for a patch? Surely Infrogames monitor this forum.

I only had time to play Rally for a short time last night but based on my initial research it would appear that (with the MS wheel at least) using the break pedal for reverse does not work in all modes. I will look into this further. On the mode where it didn't work, using a manual box worked fine. Still no jot on the force feedback though.
