Odd title for an Odd bug
Go get a Spyker, set your camera to an outside view and look backwards at the cars front, put your Spyker in reverce gear.
Note that the indicators light up, now press the footbrake, they glow brighter, just like your brakelights.
So, is this a feature of the real car, or a rather strange bug? And if so, what other cars have it?
The 288 GTO does it as well and I'm sure plenty of others do too. Just another lame glitch that didn't get fixed in the patch (well that's no surprise)
Please submit a bug report for it :D
Yeah good idea, I think some people should list the bugs experienced, including carglitches. I recently found out the SL65 AMG's turnsignals light up a bit when I wanna brake.
Then there's the famous CLS55 glitch with it's revcounter and speedo, and we now get this one...
But yeah, nice idea to make a bugreport, I'd say we should get one.

I thought that was just an attempt to represent current Mercedes build quality.
What? there getting better, but there still awful compared to there competition.
Ehh..my post has nothing to do with the reallife car?....

I am well aware of that, I was saying rather than a bug the dials in that Merc were in fact a subtle commentary on the current state of Mercedes quality control on the part of Eden.
hm whatever.
It has to be fixed, that's the most important. Wouldn't that be possible just by switching models of those gauges? I mean, they need to have at least some sort of file containing the model of it..

Care to elaborate? Kinda un-called for since they out sell the competition.

Ok, go look at customer satisfaction surveys, old Mercs (Pre mid 1990's) rate at about the best you can get, new Mercs are always within the bottom quarter of the surveys.
Or if you don't trust them, ask old Merc owners why they stuck with there older models when they could afford the new ones - they will tell you about the build quality.
Mercedes themselves have admitted there previous generation of cars were of woeful quality compared to older generations and are having to invest a hell of a lot of cash to rebuild there now badly dented reputation.
You see, not long after buying up, sorry Merging with Chrysler the Merc big wigs decided they wanted to make more profit by cutting back on the extensive and expencive quality control that Mercedes had long been famous for. The first car on which this new practice was instituted was the American built M Class.
"Due to a period (late 1990s - early 2000s) of poor reliability, the old Mercedes-Benz W163 M-Class ranked as the least reliable mid-size SUV for sale in North America according to research by Consumer Reports. This was also the first Mercedes built solely outside Germany." - http://money.cnn.com/popups/2006/autos/reliable/8.html
There now cutting profits to re-instate there quality control, and have dumped to loss making Chrysler to allow them to do so.

VieVentar does have a good point. These days, most Mercs are seen as being some of the most unreliable cars you can buy, second, third and fourth only to Peugeot, Citroen and Renault. The CLS' dial thing was just an accident, though.
Can we get back ontopic? Weren't we talking about an ingame TDU glitch? If I look at the discussion I seem to have started somehow, it almost starts to look like the reallife CLS has switched gaugefunctions...
I just name up a bug in a computergame and we switch over to reallife cars and reliability surveys?.......
I think its some sort of attempt at real car behavior. Cant be too sure.
All i know is that Aston Martin DB9 does the similar thing. When you brake, parking lights (inner portion of front lights) light up.
Yea I know that bug too, from SL65 AMG.
Wow lot's of small details Atari should fix...

Er... ..not really, you see current generation BMW's look like the product of a Mitsubishi designer on a really bad acid trip. And there not as well built, at least the 1 series, as the VW golf.

I'd agree with that. I've owned 4 Mercedes's in my lifetime.. all were great cars and they served me well, except the M-Class - that WAS trouble. tonguegre

Personally, i love the new designs just as much as the previous generations. As far as build quality goes, the current "Dreier" sure has it's flaws, but it's still well above most car brands' build quality. Same goes the 1 series imo.

Beamers are great cars.. But they aren't up to scratch when it comes to Mercedes-Benz in my opinion. I think Mercedes out-build them, out-invent them with new technology and out-market them.. while Beamer are just trying to keep up. I love beamers and mercs, but i don't love them all. For instance, I love the M6 and the 760Li, but I hate the M5 (newest one). I love the Mercedes CL, SL and S Class but I hate the C and E class.. and pretty much everything else.
But as you said; it comes down to a matter of opinion.
About the Merc error with the bumpercam gauges, Audi has errors too, on it's A6. The speedo goes terribly off after 100 km/h and the naviscreen shows the island 90 degrees turned.

Just noticed the sidelights come on when you are in reverse, or when you brake in the DB9 :p

Well we once had an old C Class Merc which never missed a beat (2001). Later this year we were test driving an E Class when we drove past a......E Class (same year as our test car 2006) broken down by the side of the road. We then thought.......nah and got an Audi instead

BMW are quite possibly the most REFINED cars in the world. I mean at time of posting *sunday* my dad is getting rid of his last generation 528i sport, that car was simply amazing, 145 easily and feels like it got soooo much more left, then being easily able to take corners at aroun 80, the first time i went on a motorway trip i was relaxing, then i glance at the speedo, 110mph i nearly cacked myself because i didnt realise how fast we were going you just dont notice, and as for looks anyone who doesnt find the current bmw's (apart from 1 series as you said, cus they do suck) is crazy there FRICKIN gorgeous, plus 211mph out a family 5dr :DDDDD
