Well, the summed price for all the car packs should not be more than half the retail game price :wink2:
But I'm sure ATARI/Eden have other (marketing) plans in mind.
And let's not forget that the first patch was released xxx months after the game's release. So we should not hope for much, unless they announce it and only after 6-7 months after that announcement, when they will be available, we could start asking our selfs if we should pay for them.
But I have a question: If someone buys a carpack can those cars be sold/bought in Trade? :mefiant:

I would NEVER pay for downloadable content on anything. Its just another way for them to make money

I would pay for some never before seen exclusive stuff for PC. I am not paying for 1 year old leftovers.
I'd pay for any of the cars to be released after they make a decent patch for us that fixes all the problems we've been stuck with since day one. I wouldn't pay for the ones that are clearly outdated releases. I mean 'Pure Power 2" is the only car pack that completely appeals to me. Aside from the F40 and 612 Scaglietti none of the other cars really mean much to me in the other packs, the other cars that appeal to me are free, the Dodge Challenger and C1 Corvette.
The question stands, why do we still not have the Pagani Zonda roadster?
i wouldn't pay for anything more either, imo eden/atari owes us, they're the ones that have been screwing up so if you ask me they should just add more cars for free.
The reason the Xbox users had to pay for cars was because M$ wouldnt allow content to be given away on xbox live.
Since this isnt the case for PC users, theres no reason to charge them. They are better off trying to recover some of the lost fanbase rather than alienate them further.
I know which option my money is on.

$3 3Euro £3... ..thats more than a little unfair to us Brits, and to the European customers.
Brits would be paying almost double what the Americans are, and the Europeans about half as much more than the Americans.
Anyway, I'm not paying for any other TDU stuff, not after the way this community has been treated by Atari. That's right Atari, not even the Alfa Brera would get me to send money to you now.

yeah 3$ is not 3€ or 3 £
3$ = 2.17€ = 1.45£ ;)
Either way, we don't know if they'll be free or not anyway. But 2-3€ is a price that seems acceptable to me...if we were treated just a little better
I wont be paying for car packs for 3 main reasons.
A: The game is now rubbish for me cause of the patch, it freeze frames and stutters so much I can't drive properly so there would be 0 point in me getting any more cars cause I haven't really been playing it since.
B: The fact that they screwed up and treated all of us so poorly up to patch on such a vast scale irritated me enough to not want to give them any more money from my pocket (That includes future games too) which I earnt by actually finishing software and doing a good job at it before I let it go.
C: It's a P.C. platform and I would feel dirty having to pay for extra content cause it just doesn't really happen on P.C. apart from full blown boxed expansion packs.

I would pay for car packs. Probably not all of them, but definitely most. But I don't think the car packs are the be all and end all. I want new features. I want new locations and scenery above anything else. All I'd really need and be happy with is the F40, Countach and the LS460.

I totally, I agree I would never pay for dlc for a game I have already bought. Its like saying you bought the game but if want the complete game give us more cash for teh ending. Its almost blackmail.

After all the trouble we've had with the game, and the patch, how could Atari expect us to pay for them?

Why don't I just send them a collection of postage stamps worth $3
I don't use credit cards - plus by the time they actually release the car packs I will most ilkely have found a better game to play on my PC

God stop with this "uncompleted game" non sense
DLC's, whether they are free or not, are there to keep people interested in a game. It's just additional content, it doesn't affect the way you play TDU : basically, it's a not a patch! And I think it's a good idea. Atari just have a way to kill good idea : the patch was 6 months late and seems to have changed nothing for many people , now everyone's angry at the company and no one wants to buy those dlcs (which I understand perfectly). And like someone above me here said, even with the patch, if you can't play the game, there's no point in buying a dlc anyway.
God stop with this "uncompleted game" non sense
Well seeing as the rims for the new cars are on the cd, its pretty obvious Atari knew the cars were ready and going to be added after the game was released.
So yes, the game is released incomplete. Now I dont mind if they add cars for free but to charge for them is adding insult to injury.
I think the all the cars should be released as a single expansion pack at no more that £8

Agreed. Perhaps the release should be similar to those Sims 2 item packs.
Either that, or make 'em all free, which ought to be Eden's original intention long since thwarted by Microsoft's policy regarding Xbox 360 DLCs.

My thoughts exactly.
They should release a couple of car packs for free, as a gesture of good will.
Maybe the car packs will be free, and they're deliberately delayed to prevent any hostile reaction from 360 players who are forced by Microsoft to pay for DLCs.

im a bit suprised that there isnt an option for "i would download it but only if it came free with the £30 game that ive already baught". god its like wow all over again.
how will they stop us buying them from people that have downloaded the pack?

mmmh, yeah, but I wouldn't consider TDU as unfinished. I feel for the people having bugs, but I can't find anything that is missing in TDU (I mean, in what atari promised it to be), I'm having good fun with it :)
There's also a 250 GTO on the back of the TDU box ;)
Honestly, I don't know if I mind paying or not. It really depends on the price and the quality of what we get. I'm not really angry at atari for the patch and all, I'm just a little bored of waiting.
Sure, all the cars were modeled long before the game was released, I just don't understand WHY it takes so much time to release them. Why would they have to test those cars for so long is a mystery to me. I mean, there are already like what, a 100 cars in this game, what could possibly need more testing?...All the cars are basically the same : they have 4 wheels and can move.
The problem I have with a single expansion pack, is that I'm afraid that after I buy all the cars, I'll get bored quickly and there will be nothing more to look forward to...

To be honest i wouldnt pay for them as a download seeing as i dont trust online transactions but if they make a expansion type thing that i can goto the store to buy it i dont mind paying then.

The bugs, the optimization, the problems online and the dozens of cars with the rims on the cd but not available to play. Ive had fun with it but its no more than a beta, in fact nothing has changed since the beta.
Paying for DLC is a con. Im pretty sure if they make anyone pay for it, it will be freely available on torrents within 24 hours.

I dont understand it, some spotty chav at a shop is much more likely to steal your CC info than anyone online. Ive made dozens of transactions and never had any problems.

It's no expansion pack with new roads, new functions AND new cars, it's just new cars.
No I won't pay for it.

I dont mean money wise i prefer have a disk to reinstall the cars incase of ie your hard drive goes and loose everything. I dont want to have to find out 2 months down the road that i need to pay again to get the download again. Because most companies have a time frame that downloads are able to be recieved after the origanal transaction.
Also i prefer when buying i reciece something for that like when i bought TDU i got the game disc.

Why not, would Indians get it for 3 rupees?
You dont just sell a product at the same figure in every currency. You work it out via the exchange rate and then overcharge the Brits by 50%.

Of course, you have to take into account all the taxes, import duties etc for physical goods. Going by the logic used earlier, it should be 39.99 in any currency even when that is only pennies.
All downloadable content should be the same price for everyone because theres no reason to charge one customer more than another.

In terms of DLC price vs. minimum wage, using the same number regardless of G8 currency means that the relative cost for a pack will be about the same for everyone. i.e. We will all have to work for about the same amount of time to pay for a pack.
So, if Atari can exploit the USD's artificially inflated state to increase their profits, they don't have much incentive not to. The difference in exchange rates might make Atari think twice before doing this to a full-price game, but not for a cheap car pack.
With international banking it's rather easier to just set a price in one currency, like steam, nwn premium modules and oblivion download content, then just have your bank handle the exchange.

Youve completely missed the point, the guy was saying they should just charge 3 of whatever currency can be used to buy the game.
That can be 3 pence in some devalued currency or £3. That logic is just plain retarded.
Now I think DLC sales would be very low anyway, it would be non existent if anyone was overcharged, even the EU could get involved as they have done elsewhere when one Euro country gets charged more than another for downloadable content.
As Kalniel pointed out, the only logical way is to use exchange rates so no one gets ripped off.

Anyway, if a Brit has to work for an hour to afford all of the download packs, and an American also has to work for an hour to afford them, does anyone really care if the Brit thinks he is being ripped-off because he didn’t have to do less work than everyone else to buy them?
I have no idea whether Atari will use regional prices, an ex-rate price, or even give PC buyers the packs for free. I just gave those prices so that everyone would vote on the poll based on the same relative circumstances.
no way im not paying with real money BUT i would only pay with Game money
No, "this guy" gave 3 discreet currencies that cover most of Atari’s 3 main western markets.
Yes and one is worth 50% more than the dollar and the other is worth 100% more than the dollar.
You can bet your **** the Brits will see that and will not buy it. The EU would probably look into it too as pricing like that is illegal, they were already looking into itunes charging different prices for different Euro countries.
