View Full Version : The final rant.
This is likely my last post here in TDU forums. Here's why:
I have always liked TDU, and I still do. And soon I got the game I joined these forums to get answers and to get the most of TDU. Ever since I came here to the forums I was sticking with the rules, always been helping other people around (see my posts if you have doubts), I have always been doing this for the sake of TDU and generaly because I like to help people around. I have been using computers ever since the good'ol Clive's ZX Spectrum came out, I can safely say I know them pretty good and feel that I have enough experience and knowledge that I can put to use and help others.
Yet I still got caught in the massive wave of user banning that has occured here a month ago. If you follow my lasts posts, you will notice that I had done nothing against the rules, or at least nothing that would "earn" me a monthly ban (hint hint, Understudy?).
All I want to say is, until these forums can attain more and BETTER mods, this community does not have a good and valid perspective. Current mods (with some notable exceptions, you can easily tell them apart) are trigger-happy, power-abusing people who mindlessly persuade people who just slightly disobey the forum rules and banning them straight away, without giving them a chance to plea. Not to mention thread locking and posts deleting (it's called censorship here). Don't get me wrong here, I support banning all the way, but unles it is done on a reasonable level, it just becomes ineffective and will go awkward.
If someone decides to ban me permanently, be my guest, that will only prove my words and I'd be kind of glad for that.
That's it, I'm done ranting here. You guys enjoy fun with TDU while it lasts. :salut2:
Sorry for the lengthy post.
I totally understand and agree 100% mind you, the shear number of people who were upset the game didnt work, then the magic patch was late and eventually didnt do what everyone hoped it would do did turn this into a war zone. Over on lfsforums they are finding this fighting highly amusing, if you have time, take a peek.
I wonder how long this thread will last, I give it 20 mins.
Hey, this is awesome, let's move all those people who are dissatisfied and pointing out some obvious flaws to some corner where nobody can find them, and so they won't disturb our main forums. There, problem solved.
And I wasn't even shouting, I was just merely stating some facts that some people are afraid of seeing/understanding.
This is golden. Thank you for the experience lolblue:
And Radweld, you were off by only five minutes, congrats :)
Won't people be searching for posts they want anyway, as per your sig?
You're right about the shouting though, would you like this in off-topic instead?

With all due respect, kalniel, that was NOT my point and you know it. Mocking me won't help the matter at all.

You can move this thread anywhere you like, I think you have already proven my words.

It's OK, don't worry.
By not deleting or closing this thread? Or by not banning you?
Simply moving the thread out of view has practically the same effect as all the things you (and I) mentioned. And something tells me you know this as well and making fun out of me again. Perhaps you can rethink your attitude.
Listen, I don't want to start no flame or war here. I am just dissapointed of the way mods deal with forum users that don't fit into the "perfect user" profile (wowing for TDU or Atari in general, not having any issues with the game or community, and such).
I consider this thread over, since it has been made virtually inaccessible for other people to view it, which was its purpose. It's a shame what has Atari done to TDU.
I'm not making fun of you, so sorry if you have that impression - wonders of internet communication I guess.
I know I can't make you believe me, but I can only do my best to reassure you that there is no such pruning towards 'perfect users'. A look at several threads should show you that we do infact allow users to express plenty of disatisfaction towards Atari and their games - I can post links to them if you'd like, but I don't want you to think I'm making fun of you by doing so. Furthermore we've banned plenty of people who were vocal supporters of Atari.
Instead of thinking that moving this thread is an act of censorship, why not consider that it's actually bringing the issue to a wider audience - the topic of forum moderatation is not limited only to TDU players for instance.

just a thought, but perhaps, instead of making lots of threads which overall mean the same thing, you make a petition or something, where you can all express your displeasure in one place without annoying the people who want to discuss the game rather than its faults?i dont have much knowledge of the PC section of TDU so i cant particularly comment, but i do know that its the section which aggitates the mods most.
Atari, no doubt knows, that people are getting very annoyed with its lack of delivering a patch. more complaints will not make it come any quicker, the message has allready been made.
Sorry, I can't see how this thread is unaccessible since this is not a restricted area.
The mods are all intelligent, moderate and mature individuals who are generous enough to volunteer some (quite a lot) of their spare time for the sake of the community. You might not always agree with all decisions but "trigger-happy, power-abusing people" isn't in any way descriptive of the people you are referring to.
First, thank you Mole for your reply.

I was pointing out that _I think_ that the percentage of people watching the main TDU thread is far bigger than those who may occasionally spot this subforum. If I'm wrong, feel free to correct me.

Okay, I might have used some harsh words that are somewhat not appropriate, but look at it from this point of view: some person gets banned (and yes, I'm referring to myself here) for no valid reason (of course, mod thinks otherwise), and of course, he starts feeling abused and unrighteously punished for something he didn't do. But alas, he doesn't have any chance for plea or simply contact the mod and ask him about the reason he gets banned for. Even when he sees other forum members to feel alike and supporting him. No.
People can do mistakes, mods are people, mods can do mistakes. But when a mod makes a mistake, there's nothing that can prove him otherwise, because: mod is always right. And contacting Atari doesn't help the matter at all. And you can't deny that there's been a lot of banning recently, surely at least 95% for valid reason and proper bans, but there has been some people who got banned for trivialities. Keeping the forum tidy and usable by regulating according the rules is surely OK, but it's gotta be done with a perspective and reasonable attitude in mind, but I'm already repeating myself here.
Thanks for reading.
