I just got an xbox 360 wired gamepad to play TDU with. The problem is however, that when i plug it into my computer the sounds craps out. For instance, the random bings and bongs of windows go all crackley, and same with everything else, from itunes to in-game sounds in TDU. I can start TDU without the controller plugged in and the sound is fine but as soon as i do, it gets all messed up.
I am just using the standard microsoft drivers. I tried using the XBCD one but since i am running vista 32-bit, it wasn't really working out to well so just left it to the original drivers. I don't have any problems with the controller playing the game (no deadzones or any buttons not working) its just that the sound bungs up.
Any suggestions please???
Freaky.
Try a different port?
Do you get interferance when you plug anything else into that USB port?

Just tried all 5 other ports and same thing is happening.
It is weird, nothing else has ever gone wrong with my comp till this. I know you have a 360 controller to Kalniel, what os you got? ever heard of anything like this happening?
I'm on XP Home SP2. I've not heard of this happening before.
Unfortunately I don't know where things are on Vista, but I presume there's some kind of equivalent to the Device Manager somewhere? If so can you view resources by connection and have a look at the Interupt Request (IRQ) section. Sharing IRQs isn't the problem it used to be, but it's possible that you've got some kind of conflict there that's affecting your sound.

I've got the IRQ section but what exactly am i meant to be looking for? How will i recongize if there is some kind of conflict going on?
BTW Device manager is same on vista as XP
Look at the numbers - these show the IRQ channels. If you have other devices on the same channel as your sound chip you might get sound problems.

Would this count as a contrast?? (see sttachment)
and if so...What next??
Not unless you had one on channel 23 as well.
USB hosts routinely jump ontop of other channels, but it doesn't matter unless it's the same as your audio one, which is 23.
If you did have one, you could test to see if it was a problem by disabling the conflicting hub in device manager - make sure to only disable one at a time, because any USB devices plugged into that controller will stop working and you'll have to move them to a different port - you don't want to lock out your mouse!

Oh right i think i get it now, still got the problem though.
When i first plugged in the controller the device installed by itself and got the necessary drivers but also something called 'SCSI Disk Device' went on which i now can't remove.
I have no idea what this is, but just know that before it was fine, now it ain't.
SCSI disk device will just be part of the SATA hard disk controller - maybe windows found an update to your SATA drivers?

Was wondering if someone could give me a link to a good tech help site please, where i could hopefully try and find an answer there??
I mostly use Hexus.net - they've got some very helpful forums (under community).
