OK - Mr Mole has offered to have some questions answered. So here goes a few

We know the core classes plus two psionic classes have been implemented. Can you cofirm that prestige classes are not offered?

What is the level cap going to be?

Given a lot of skills are non combative, or may be of limited use in a tactics game, can we have a list of which skills are included, and what the classes skill allotments will be?

What is the character creation process? Points, rolls?

hello. I would also like some questions answered..
sooo

1. Will there be a multiclassing feature?
2. Is there a possibility that downloadable content will be added to the game through patches or so?
3.Will the game feature single player skirmish scenarios or smth?
4.Does the game have templates such as vampire, undead blah blah...?

hello,i have only one quenstion:
will the duel-wielding (eg. Drizzt Do'Urden) char get more funs in the DNDT's world?
actually,in the other games, like bg,nwn, toee or iwd,duel-wielding had been put in a awkward posistion.

I can answer some of these questions based on an interview I read with a developer and screenshots i've seen.

Prestige classes were mentioned early into development but never again, in the interview when asked what classes were available he said all bases classes plus the 2 psionic classes. It's safe to assume no prestige classes.

Level cap was stated to be 20 although you are more likely to be 15 when you finish the game.

Non-combat skills have been removed. Don't know skill lists.

Multi-classing would appear to be in as i've seen a screenshot with a fighter/rogue.

Downloadable content is possible and was an original goal. At this time it appears likely to be dropped though. If the game is popular I am sure it will become a possibility again.

I'll try and find a link to the screenshot of multi-classing and to the interview now.

This is a link to the interview. After reading it again it specifically states that pscionic classes were chosen over prestige classes.

This is the screenshot that confirms multi-classing was atleast present at one stage.

Sorry guys, it took me some time to get answers for you :)

Does the game have templates such as vampire, undead blah blah...?
Unfortunately not

We know the core classes plus two psionic classes have been implemented. Can you confirm that prestige classes are not offered?
Confirmed, they're not offered

What is the level cap going to be?
20

Given a lot of skills are non combative, or may be of limited use in a tactics game, can we have a list of which skills are included, and what the classes skill allotments will be?
Generally speaking there is all the combat feats and skills. The producer doesn't have the complete list but you will be able to disarm, trip, … all the actions you could do in a real pen & paper game.

What is the character creation process? Points, rolls?
According to the producer, it is points.

Multi classing is not in the final game btw. Nor are Cleric domains. I wonder how many other things were cut.

I guess this was down to Atari's usual brand of bully boy tactics and trying to squeeze the game out as early as possible. Further cementing Ataris reputation as the worst publisher on the planet to work for. The good news is that Ataris incredible abbility to put out unfinished games and complete lack of any kind of communication ewith its fans or respect for said fans means that it will be going under soon. Someone better will pick up the DnD license.

The game is still supposed to be good though and the guys at Kuju done a great job for a small company. I'll definitely still be getting it and really looking forward to it.

Edit- this is not a go at the Atari representative on this forum, "the mole", in anyway. He is by the far the most responsive atari representative i've ever encountered. I am sure Atari have lots of really good guys working for them, but they're central policies are awfull.

Hehe we have half the people complaining that Atari release products too early and half complaining the release them too late :p Can't win can they?

tha game is incomplete! but it is a good game....with additional content it will be a real HIT! :atari:

The bigest problem with late releases isn't the fact that it's late but the poor communication. If the company just puts out an arbitrary date then never talks to the fans then just waits untill that date is close before putting it back a few weeks then it's really annoying.

You'll find fans have no problem waiting if you make it clear from the beginning that the release dat is still a long way off. Atari have the worst communication of any big publishers right now. They never tell their fans anything. They also have a very poor reputation with fans and other companies, they are said to use bullying tactics on small developers.

Considering the long delay we've had for D&D Tactics, it's hardly a question of Atari being pushy with release dates.

I'm taking the game to Gen Con in Reading from the 30th Aug to 2nd Sept for anybody to play with. Come and try it out :)

DekuTheClown

The delay is most likely due to Atari giving release dates that wern't feasable in the first place.

tenebra

DekuTheClown, release dates are pretty much set by development.

DekuTheClown

Thats not strictly true. How big the developer and it reputation dicatate how much say they have but with a small unknown developer like Kuju they would have been under huge pressure by Atari to stick to their time table. Atari have a reputation of bullying small developers, setting unrealistic release dates and forcing games out as early as possible.

The simple fact is that a developer would never release a game unfinished and with things cut if it was solely down to them. It's always the developer pressuring that results in this, which makes sense as it is normally the publisher that is laying the money on the line and taking the risk.

Here's a question for you Mole. What's up with Druids not having Wild Shape? Even the games class description says that Druids at high levels will be able to "learn to change their shape to that of an animal." Your guys should have at least changed the class description if you weren't going to include it. How big of a change in code would that have taken? Really?

Just changing the description

tenebra

B_Notorious, where is the class description you are referring to?

B_Notorious
23-08-2007, 17:39
It's in the character creation class description. After you choose your sex and race, the Choose Class description for the Druid.

"Eschewing metal armor, Druids are masters of wild magics and may learn to change their shape to that of an animal."

It's kind of a bummer to create a druid and run it all the way through the game only to find that Wild Shape was not included in the game. Maybe it's only me, but I found that to be very missleading.

B_Notorious, I see you are referring to in game content - we don't have much input on that, I'm afraid.

I do enjoy the game Mole. I just thought that that was one thing about the game that REALLY should have been caught by someone before you finalized it. I'm not complaining about Wild Shape being or not being in the game.
