Hello all,
The time has come, Shall I get a Xbox 360 or a new PC. With having a Xbox 360 I can hopefully trade in my PS2 and get a bit of discount and then save up for a new PC when i'm 16 and Get a Job (I'm 16 in April).
I think it will be best to go for the Xbox but what do you guys think.
Thanks,
Wasley

speaking as an xbox 360 gamer DO not listen to the calster (got you name right :p ), the xbox 360 has a better game list, the ps3's is quite bad although one or two big games might be there but most big games are on the 360, for one the 360 is cheaper so you wouldnt need to save up as much
I think pc's are something more personal , especially if you get to build it yourself, it's your baby, lol
If you don't want to do anything else except gaming should go for a 360, it's just easyer , ( can't believe i am saying this ,hehe) , or if you have some disposable funds , than get a good gaming pc.

Personally I'd get a new PC, you can do so much more with a computer than a gaming console, in fact my console's (PS2-X-Box & X-Box 360) just sit next to my T.V collecting dust...

i say pc all the way u could get ur self quite an upto date pc for around the same price as an xbox360 all my consoles just collect dust
it is true , at the end of the day , consoles are dust collecting devices :))
i have a PS2 , and a sony projector in the living room , but never use it.
the only life the PS2 has seen in the last month is when i use it to play DVDs , hehe, a home cinema with no proper dvd player....

Buy a new PC.
XB360 - Starting to show its age, and its far from future proof.
PS3 - Backs the wrong HD DVD format, ie the one Sony is supporting.
The PC allows you to keep playing all your PC games, but also play future ones. Plus you can upgrade it later after HD DVD either trounces Blue Ray, or both get forgotten after a non DRM ridden format comes out.
If you have an LCD TV or big monitor, buy an X360.

Well, Reading all the comments everyone says its best for a PC.
The only good side about getting a xbox is I can trade in my PS2 and its accessories and get a discount off it (Whooo)
I'm still not convinced weather to get a 360 yet, only time will tell :P

I'd love to buy PS3 for GT5 as I bought PS2 just for GT4, but I prefer X360 since its controller is more appropriate for a racing game.

sorry ..... started thinking wrong ... ignore this if you did read this post
Main thing why PC-version is superior - decent ff-wheels.
I have both versions, and while in XO its nearly impossible to control more powerful cars with XO's controller, in PC i just drive to the sunset with my G25.
XO's version is still pretty good looking, and its much easier to start playing with console than with PC.
but a g25 only works on pc or playstations :P ........... the xbox 360 wheels arn't soo good ....
Yeah, that's right. Since I don't have a G25, I didn't think about that. :)
Another thing is while Forza have damage simulation and no cockpit, GT5 is vice versa.
well... everybody should get a PC and a G25... it's really the best option for TDU, only bikes can't be driven with a G25 :p but you can always buy 360-controllers for the PC. They are the best gamepad-thingy's in my opinion.

Every time Sony backs a format, it flops:
Betamax - Dead
Sony's Floppy Disc format - Dead long before the 3.5
MiniDisc - Only used by theatres
Memory Stick/Pro - Only used by Sony while everybody else uses the cheaper and far more widely supported SD/MiniSD format.
If Sony backs a data storage format, it dies.
The problem with a pc is that they are constantly changing and your system needs to meet certain requirements to play games therefore you need to upgrade to play certain games even if the manufacturers give you words like best and future proof. I had a ps3 for a very short period of time and found it a big dissapointment so ive stuck with the 360 till friday when i pick up my elite. The bonus to consoles is that any game that comes out for them you dont need to upgrade and if it needs a software upgrade its done for free.
P.C- good until the next game comes out.
PS3- Utter pants for the money
360- By far the best gaming computer
360 elite- Will let you know
go for a decent pc
for what you spend on an xbox360 or a ps3 you can start building your dream pc from parts. you dont need a fancy case just a budget one will do and if you look hard enough there are plenty of places that do good cheap parts and unlike a few years ago once you get the correct parts its not a mistery to put a PC together yourself I will point out one thing you must budget for an original OS if you are building your own pc and most places will only sell vista nowadays but you can still get a OEM XP home for around 50 quid
just make sure that what your buying is right for your needs.
if all you do is gaming go for a console but if you want a rounded package with the best title list going the pc you cant beat.

My order:
PC
XBox360(the new premium which is a revision who ads better support fo HD and also has a lot of games)
XBox360(if you have the money)
PS3(but not this year)
The games for PS3, the big titles are coming in the early 2008. Until then, I'd stay away of PS3.
And I'd keep the PS2 if you live in Europe. As you know the PS3 doesn't have hardware compatibility support for the EU version of PS3.Only software, and that covers about 75% of the titles released in Europe. Kinda of sucks living in EU, right?

(this is off topic)
It sucks living in the north east of scotland! you get hardly any good brodband(3-5Meg best! unless your in aberdeen!) and same with stuff like FreeVue so you have to get sky(here my wallet open)and on top of that, it's raining half the time and you don't get much on the word of news becouse it's all Glasgow or Endinbra, anything past perth is unherd of in the BBC(STV are better....dundee get herd in there news!). Some posting cost's LOADS becouse Aberdeen and Shire are classed as "country"...Europes Oil Capitle is classed as country! come one!
(Ontopic)
The PS3 is better than the 360 in what i can do(with out menting EU) and it's PSP conextivity is good! and if you do want a 360, i'd get the old one, the new ones reallyjust a Black Body with a better hardrive and it's get HD(or somthing like that)
People who plan to buy XO should consider to wait till XO's with newer technology are available.
In few months even normal Premium-XO has HDMI and better cooling in core(and with 65nm-technology), so they should be much more reliable than these present models which tend to blow up too often. I will trade my XO to newer model when they are available.
And there have been rumours that MS drops the "Core"-version, 'cause most of the new games needs HDD to work properly.
About BluRay and HD-DVD, at least here in Finland experts expect that BluRay will be the winning standard from those two.

Paramount Pictures made a choice for HD-DVD. Paramount also has Dreamworks and a few other big studios.
Sony has a long history with new formats gone bad(sony floppy disk, betamax, just to name a few good products gone south).

Don't buy a PC - I'm not sure if you've seen the current authentication nightmare with Bioshock's PC version but I suspect it will be the first of many. At the very least, with a console you just put the game in and go. Add this to the huge pace of obsolescence and ridiculous cost of PC gaming technology at the moment and it's not a good time to be PC gaming. Sure, a 360 (or any console) only lasts four or five years, but good luck having a PC that'll still be upgradable in five years time when Intel and AMD come up with yet another new socket type for processors, and another new standard for graphics cards is out.
This, by the way, is coming from someone who was a hardened PC game for nearly 20 years - but I couldn't afford to keep throwing money away every three or four years to keep up with the graphics card arms race. So, I own an iBook and a 360, and am very happy.

You should read about the ID chips for PS3 which will allow Sony to ban your console from online playing forever. As their CEO declared, you should move and buy a new console to be able to play again online on Sony Entertainment. Funny, how orwellian this sound..

thats odd....a compeny telling what you should do if you should get band!(i fell sorry if you sell you band PS3 to somone and they try to play online)...i should just get a brand new one then!
Carrying on my earlier post i would go for the elite tdu is awsome when using hdmi at 1080p.

I'd say xbox 360 because if you wanna have a good computer in the month September you need to pay around € 1400 for a good one and a 360 ELITE costs € 425 and it has a good games list (oh and the ps3 has only a couple exclusives) and you dont have to upgrade the xbox every week just like the pc

buy new pc.
otherwise a ps3 because games like gear of wars more feel like a hype than a real game :noooo:
ps3 exclusives:
metal gear solid4 (wooooooooooooottt)
final fantasy (wooooooooooooootttt˛)
killzone 2 (online much better than halo in my eyes)
.... (too sleepy too give others)

you should of had GT5!
but if you ask me, the 360's showing age(why the "new" ones out) and the wii's a just a fad(that's costly) and if you ask me...the PSP's better, and gets most main games(as in GTA,TDU,ect)
PS3 is good, but the Blue-ray is what i thinks a gamble!(but apple's alos taking that risk!)

360's not showing age, at all, and the Wii isn't over-priced weirdblue

They are overpriced. Along with oversized, overweight, etc, etc. :p

The PS3 has made a big mistake, it has forgotten that it is a CONSOLE.
Its trying to do everything and anything and it is failing. it has what, 2 decent games out?
And if you get a PS3 you're going to have to look forward to delayed games whilst the Xbox gets them months beforehand (which then go on to look the same as the 360 version) Games that don't come to PS3 at all, one hell of a load of BS from sony marketing, an inferior Online service, No rumble, and ofcourse a media format which could go boobs up
PS3 is so busy selling itself as a Blue Ray player, a computer (linux for PS3) a social network device (home) and all that useless rubbish that they neglected the games side of things, which is why the games are average, and its notoriously difficulat to programme for. hence why the games-centred 360 is the choice of 'hardcore gamers'
you should of had GT5!
GT5?? That probably won't be realised until 2010!!!
Oh, and the new one coming out next year is GTHD!!!! :anger:
