View Full Version : Where is 'the_mole'???
He/she/it seemed to vanish from the boards right after the patch was officially released to the public, around the same time the ensuing backlash started.
Is it a case of 'the_mole', who may have some close affiliation with Eden or Atari, receeding into the shadows to avoid continued scrutiny, and embarrassment on behalf of his/her's/it's employers (or whatever they may be)?
Was 'the_mole' the only mod on here that was in the position of making official statements directly from Eden/Atari? Just curious because (and no offence intended) the current and most regular mods on this board dont seem to know what the hell is going on with this still flawed, but potentially fantastic games' future support.
Will we be seeing a second patch for Test Drive Unlimited?
Unfortunately Atari is doing really bad when it comes to feedback , i don't know other titles but when it comes TDU it's quite a lost cause trying to get any official info, and this applies to all the platforms....
It's not cool when you look at other forums and see the lvl of support they get , even from the devs.
The funny part is that Eden devs are secretly browsing the forum without giving us any info whatsoever, but who knows , maybe this is a new marketing scheme :)

I'm not surprised, the way some people treat her...

Erm, I would suspect she's hiding from the abuse and harrasment she gets from forums members

Yes, she's the only official (english) Atari employee

The moderators are volunteers who have no official link to Atari.
Will we be seeing a second patch for Test Drive Unlimited?
No-one knows.
Hope this helps :)

quote from randumus_r "Yes, she's the only official (english) Atari employee"
"The moderators are volunteers who have no official link to Atari."
Just to be clear,
The Mole is also Tenenbra, at present a current Moderator for this forum irrespective of her active/inactive staus.
You decide what level of conflict of interest or impartiallity that poses, both for her and for all other forum members.
Cheers

Tenebra is her account that she used at home, as a moderator for the last six years. The_Mole is her account that she uses at work to relay official information, since she became an Atari employee about six months ago.
Technically, yes, tenebra did have an official link to Atari, but because of that she gave us a small amout of official information. Now that people have driven her away, we don't have that anymore.

No one drove her away mate she though a hissy fit and left under her own steam.

The Mole is still around (though not this week)But as randomus_r said the only info from The Mole will be official ,which means that she can only post info when Atari tells her she can ,and she's not hiding any work she does on the forums is voluntary which takes passion for the forums which for the moment has taken a bashing from the PC forum ,who knows it may come back
mine did :)

Hi,
Why do you refer to Tenenbra in the past tense and Mole in the present? Both accounts are still live and as far as I am aware still belong to one person. Tenenbra is still moderating this forum but just not posting here at present. Not my words but one of our other Mods in an earlier post in a different thread.
Nobody drove Tenenbra away. She, at first, chose not to post anything further for the foreseeable future. Later, again according to one of this forum's Mods, she was then further restricted by legal considerations.
The forum members were only reacting to the situations as presented to them via this forum and that is how it should be. Don't poke the dog with a stick and then be surprised or hurt when it growls at you!

Thats odd, seeing as she posts pretty regularly the latest being saturday in the Xbox Live forum. She may be guilty of 'shying' away from these forums, which is a shame, it would be refreshing to see but considering the abuse she had im not suprised. More importantly she is responsible for adminstering ALL Atari community forums in europe so her attention has to shift around alot depending on her workload and whats happening (patch/new releases).
It is frustrating not having any communication, but its pretty epidemic in the industry and is obviously not something that Atari consider worth much investment when she is the only administrator for around 20 forums. plus all the other things she has to do with that we dont know about.
The fact she was a forum member is a good thing in my opinion, she has a better understanding of what we think. I remember she was very active in november before release when i used to look here, its no wonder she was taken on full-time
So yes she should be around more but i can understand why she isnt.

No she didn't choose she cannot post as Tenebra period.Because anything posted by Tenebra would be seen as Official and the Tenebra account is just a moderator account, you will probably ask how can she moderate as Tenebra well anything that Tenebra thinks that need moderating she will point one of the other mods in that direction and she is doing that to help out us other mods because we also have a life and can't be around all the time
No one drove her away mate she though a hissy fit and left under her own steam.Actualy you are more wrong than you could ever be. Tenebra did not leave under a Hissy fit, if she did she would have left the forum completely even as The_Mole as her work for Atari does not have to include the forum, she is here on her own accord.
Also tenebra was unofficial so she could post tidbits of info that were not officially set for release, sort of like an inside leak but now that tenebra is known she cannot post anything as legally as far as I know it will/can be taken as Official so no more sneak peaks or headsups anymore unless they have been cleared by various departments and approved for release.

I don't think so mate she through all the blame at TDURazor and said because of him she was leaving after six years etc... it's all there unless it's been mod(ded).
That was when there was a bit of life left in this place and when people still cared and hoped that this game would be sorted, but here we are how many months later and still people are crying out for help, and being told it's their fault they have bought the wrong bits for your pc. You must go out and spen so much to get a £30 game to run although it's now a £20 game depending where you go....anyone say "Boiling point".....
I had to add because of certain others. I do not, have not, and will never blame TDURazor for the Mole taking the huff. And to be totally honest she wasn't much use anyway when it came to offical info for tdu. If she was to take intetest again she would proberly tell you this game is going the way of Auto-Assault.. And not to worry as Atari will take your money and run again with TDU2...

Aut0-Lavado I think thats a case of only hearing one side of the story mate :) she didn't walk away she was told by Atari that she could not post as tenebra anymore

You're agreeing with Diablo and the others then. It was his fault that she can't post without anything she posts being taken as an official statment, hence requires clearance, hence no need for a tenebra as all official statments can be made as The Mole.

No she didn't choose
Hi,
above your quote in response to my words that Tenenbra chose to stop participating on this forum.
This quote from Tenenbra's post number 268 on 29 June this year:
"Just to clarify the confusion.
Tenebra has been volunteering (unpaid, outside office hours) for this community for 6 years. The Mole has been working as a Product Manager at Atari for 5 months. The 2 roles are distinct and do not cross.
Tenebra now retires, which means that the support you used to get from her now ceases, both in terms of time and unofficial information.

After that date you informed us that now, as Tenenbra, she is not allowed to post from which I assume that somebody else, identity unknown but probably official and internal to ATARI, also disagreed with her "2 roles are distinct and do not cross" statement.
Cheers

yes because she was told by Atari she didn't choose ,we had alot more news and snippets when tenebra was posting because it was unofficial
and I can't understand why we are digging up this old fossil again
this is how it stands
tenebra= snippets and unofficial news .GONE no more won't happen again
The Mole=Official news that Atari say that can be released and nothing more

Hi,
any idea who just moved this thread from the TDU forum and why off the TDU forum?
Cheers
:salut2:
Hi, last time I checked this thread it was about The Mole, nothing to do with TDU PC tech. I generally prefer to move topics to the right place rather than lock them.

Hi,
Concur randomus_r well said and "Thread closed" more generally known as "Sweeping it all under the carpet!"
The thread was specifically about Mole's activity, or lack off, on our TDU forum which is exactly why that is where it should be.
Cheers

I'm not saying that the moderators are sweeping this under the carpet - this has been covered before, and doesn't really need to be dug up again. I'm not really fussed where it is, I read both these forums.

Nobody has swept anything under the carpet we couldn't be more transparent
Well for something that's supposedly as good as locked or thread closed or swept under the carpet it's sure getting a lot of activity ;)
Blimey, can't you just resort to tabloids for gossiping? :mefiant:
The reason for my absence is work, loads of it. My job title is product manager, and as such my main responsibility is looking after my titles, I have a number of releases coming out soon that require my attention. It's called prioritising.
Tenebra now retires, which means that the support you used to get from her now ceases, both in terms of time and unofficial information.
Exactly what it says on the tin. Tenebra was here in as a volunteer. The Mole has been here since January and it's an official medium who can only provide official info. No info from the Mole = no official info.
she posts pretty regularly the latest being saturday in the Xbox Live forum.
That must be someone else, I don't post on the Live forums at all :mefiant:
As it is, I'm swamped with work and life commitments, I can't see any possibility of me being more online for at least the next month to 6 weeks.
This conversation certainly doesn't belong to any game related section of this forum.

I think you should re-think that with a much more clear mind. weirdblue :mefiant: Think about the information tenebra was able to release using that account. She was able to do this since tenebra wasn't her official company account - irrespective of her status; of course (as you simply put it) :)
I think too much importance is being emphasized on Tenebras so called tidbits and info, as far as anyone was aware every word posted by her would have been sheer conjecture so although in hind sight we can say we got some info, at the time we were non the wiser, and do we miss that? I think not.. at the end the issue Razor had was that Tenebra was posting with careless abondon on topics that made not one iota of difference but let the pleading posts from people needing help unanswered and thats what he took offence to...she had the power to help but choose not to, and I for one applaud him for exposing that deception..
oh and internet discussion is about as hidden as this post could ever be on this forum so dont tell me this isn't another case of trying to quieten the mob..
Desrat, it's not a case of trying to quieten any mob. If you've got a suggestion for a more suitable forum I'm all ears.
well seeing as the original post was regarding The Moles presence in the TDU section of the forum I would presume its original position was fine..
The OP was about the Moles presence on these boards.. not the TDU forum.
The TDU forum is for discussion of things relating to TDU only. Discussion of factors relating to these boards and their moderation go here.
sry kal but you even you know thats wafer thin dude :)
