The link is here - the details are in the user guide (which is also on that page).

Update - the user guide is now in PDF format (no idea why I used the MHT format in the first place - late night).

Feedback, bug reports, and your thanks are welcome on this thread. :bravo:

Autotaskkiller...Doesn't sound like much... You can shut down tasks manually anyway... Or am I missing something here?

A program to close programs...Sounds, well, not too useful..? :mefiant:

Well the program allows you to chose which tasks to shut down, and will then always automatically do that for you whenever you launch the game. It should save time and bother.

Yea, I guess...Right. Well, I don't have any unnecessary tasks running anyway... Why would I? :p

I really want more fps thou...

Isn't Windows Task Manager for this...?

Devilbound
28-10-2007, 16:14
Yea. But I guess if people have a large number of programs running, this could come in handy...

Although letting programs have free reign over your pc definitely isn't a good idea...

randomus_r
28-10-2007, 16:16
Hmm, I have Steam, LogMeIn, Windows Desktop Search, Messenger, Winamp Agent, Windows Media Player... Does that count as a lot? :p Anyhow, I close them all easily in my taskbar, how does this help me?

Oh, Anti-Virus and Firewall, too :p

Devilbound

I don't think this helps you then...

I don't think you have what constitutes as "a lot" of programs running... Besides, it's got more to do how much the specific program needs resources, generally.

I have Ati Catalyst Control Center (Not always thou, but I seldom shut it coz it really doesn't take up resources), Realtek HD audio manager, and my viruskiller, that is all. So the viruskiller is the only "extra" that uses any resources, really. But I don't think I'll be shutting that down anytime soon...

And I sometimes use WinAmp when playing, but not very often really, 'coz most games have tweakable playlists, or have good enough music in themselves...

Less is more.

You say you got two TDU's running at the same time? :hin:

How is that going to help with the low fps? :mefiant:

Btw I got dualcore intel @ 3,2Ghz... That ought to be able to handle TDU, no? :hin: :mefiant:

ozzmcom
28-10-2007, 16:36
that's not the point.no CPU could handle that situation so that means it's FAST!
edit:and that's a good cpu there.as i looked to your graphics they're good too.i couldn't understand what's your problem?what fps you got in average?

Devilbound

Umm... Me sorry, me not understand... Really: Not a single sentence in your post made sense to me... :o

So, please, what are you on about? :hin: :mefiant:

but who in there right minds (other than people that should be in shelton) would want to run two TDU's?

guys guys that wasn't the point!.running 2 games at the same time shows how good your cpu is.i just meaned that

"Average"... Now there's some wild fluctuation there, but examples: At racetrack with full candy (4xAA,16xAF,HDR on,High Details,@1440x900) and with a number of people I can get 30-40 fps, even a bit more...

At other times, at countryside, with a few buddies, I'd get 12-16 fps at the usual worst (Usual good:20-30).. Or even worse, spikes.

So, I usually run at 1440x900,16xAF,No AA,HDR on, Low Details(As it doesn't affect the cars or the road), getting 28-45 fps, depending on terrain, but in the city I'd get 15-28 fps, with 22-25 average...

With full candy in the city it can get as low as 5fps...

Please help me :respect: ! If you can help me improve my TDU performance, I will give you a...a..a sausage!

then you have another problem apart from your pc specs.might be something slowing down tdu like firewall and other running programs 5 fps that is sick

No other programs running. Except viruskiller. And I just recently did the whole mainteinance carousel, with little or no improvement results... sour:

Hi guys.

The purpose is not only about closing say around 10 processes at once, it's also the feature of restarting these apps after you finish playing that you might find handy. While I wouldn't need to run this app for TDU (unless I wanted to record using FRAPS) - I would find it more handy when playing games with higher system requirements - such as Colin McRae DiT or NFS ProStreet. Those with slower PC's than mine may want to run this for TDU anyhow.

Obviously this won't benefit everyone - the main solution to low FPS is to buy better hardware, but not everyone can. And if you're anything like me - you have heaps of background apps that you don't need running during gameplay. You could say that this app 'pauses' them while playing (not exactly - but you get the idea).

Thanks for telling us about the pictures in the guide - I'll sort that out later

Uhh? How can that affect fps? :hin: My game brightness settings are at the halfway btw... My monitor is at 5% or there-abouts, but surely that don't affect game performance? :hin: Well, I will try this nonetheless, of course...

Btw, I'd prefer if you didn't use my real name here in these forums really; so many viewers.. :o :respect: You know...

Much appreciating you helping me, Ozz, btw, truly, bro! Kudos & BIG thanks :respect: :respect: !!!

DiRT eats more resources than TDU?! :hin: It worked quite ok (Ok, perfect, really) for me with full details and maximum resolution..!! *Veins throbbing in head*

M_3628905
29-10-2007, 06:47
Yeah - I can play TDU at full video details at 1440x900 and force about 8x AF fronm the nVidia CP

In DiRT - I have the resolution at 1280x800 I think - and most of the details are set to medium. This gives me 30-45 fps, although the graphics detail is still awesome despite the Medium setting. I have the latest patch for DiRT as well. As you would expect, FPS is lower when there are more cars racing together (but for a single Rally events there is no lag at all).

I am totally enjoying DiT atm - so I haven't been in TDU for a while. I'm trying to get as much of DiRT out of the way before November 15 (if you know what I mean) :)

EA is to be commended, for releasing their games AFTER school is finished so that it doesn't impede with exams, etc. Although I'm sure they release it at that time for different reasons.

Yea, Xmas time is a commingah! Yuch. I didn't like DiRT. Too bad, since it rolls a world better than TDU on me pc... :cry2:

No, didn't do a squat for me,no effect whatsoever... Anyway, I think you assumed it taxed my system thru HDR, but HDR actually has no effect on my fps... weirdblue

apparently HDR is a CPU thing - not a GPU thing

What? U mean even thou the fact that do you have it or not is dependent on the GPU, the CPU does the math? :hin:

But I think my CPU is much more out-of-date in relation to the GPU... :mefiant:

No way... My CPU isn't bad enough to drop FPS from 35 (4X AA 16XAF)to 20 when HDR is enabled (without AA or AF) weirdblue
Edit: Ooops, quoted wrong person sour:

Surely if HDR was a CPU thing, more cards would support it?

To be honest intels pentium 4 wasnt the best processor they ever made. even tho yours is 3.2gh it is way down the bottom on these charts. http://www23.tomshardware.com/cpu_2007.html?modelx=33&model1=921&model2=894&chart=419

my processor is a AMD athlon x2 6000+ 3.0gh and it is way at the top :p

EDIT: they r both highlighted in red on the charts

So to easily and cheaply (realatively speaking) get fps, I should upgrade my CPU? :hin: My motherboard supports more efficient CPU's... bounce:
