Imo it sucks even using a digital gamepad.. You need some sort of analog steering, and preferably for acceleration/breaks as well..

try the xbox 360 controller for windows.. works great..

its quite hard to control, but the 360 pad makes it a lot easier if you dont have access to a wheel

I used to use a keyboard for everything, still do, but I have a joystick for turns and acceleration and braking. Keyboard is fine, but it's only "go forward, stop, turn left, turn right" instead of "smoothly accelerate to 60 then floor it and then take a smooth right followed by a medium left" etc. I would use my wheel but it's force feedback is broken, and it's annoying to set it up each time.

I used to use the keyboard with TDU - and it's alright - although Hard Core mode is next to impossible (optional driving mode that you unlock).

G25 is the best wheel for cruising around, and the XBOX 360 controller is pretty good for racing and drifting in Hardcore mode (I've yet to work out how to drift with the G25) :)

well I did well with a Digital Playstation1 controller although I have to concur that the best thing is definitly a g25 :P
