Hello there folks. Im posting on my GFs account to try and get her some help.

I bought her MHAM a few days ago but its getting a few graphics problems.

She isnt a massive gamer so her computer isnt really built for gaming.

It was bought new but only had an onboard graphics chip so i stuck my old 4600Ti in it to help play the games she has (sims2, Pippa funnel etc :) ).

So when i bought the game i didnt check the minimum requirements like i should as i presumed 'Just another horse game with average graphics'..i was wrong, as the game does look very good.

Anyway to the point...........when we first installed the game and loaded it up the grass was black (green in the distance but as you rode closer it flickered black). As she isnt too into computers she was running a driver from around 1100BC, so i downloaded and installed the latest one.

After a quick reboot the grass was fine.......for about 20mins then when she entered the next tournement it went back to before and is like that all the time now.

It wasnt until i checked the minmum req. that i noticed Pixel shader 2.0 is required and im thinking this is the problem (pretty sure a 4600Ti doesnt support this lol) but i thought it wouldnt load at all if it was the case.

Anyway, id just like a quick yes it is or No its not answer before i go spend a few quid on a 5200FX

Th for any input

Hi,

Avoid the FX series of cards - they don't actually have full PS2.0 support and are usually more trouble than they're worth. Go for a low end 6 series or X700+.

As for the actual requirements.. we've not got a clear answer. The back of the box states only PS1 is required, which obviously the 4 Ti series of cards meets. But I've not heard back which drivers these cards were tested with, as nVidia stopped providing new ones for them some time ago. We've had a lot of reports from forum users who have problems with PS1 only cards.

My advice would be to go for a 6 series card as they seem to be quite well supported by nVidia still.

Ah yes, my bad. but i still think this is a PS problem and ill look into a cheap 6series card then but dont have much to spend atm

And whilst waiting for a reply i installed and played MHAM on my own computer and everything works/looks fine.

Thx for the info and i dont know where i got PS2 idea from :hin:

Probably the sticky in these forums ;) Which kind of contradicts itself as listing PS2 but then saying a Geforce 3 can play the game. :hin:
