Hi
i downloaded the demo of my horse and me but whenever i try and play it
a box comes up saying an error has occured so it must be cancelled!
Help anybody??
Hi,
Do you know your computer specifications?
If not, go to start->run and type in 'dxdiag' Then use the save all information button to save the text file on your desktop, and then attach it to a reply here (manage attachments button, underneath the text box).

Your laptop doesn't meet the minimum requirements for the game - you need a dedicated graphics chip as listed on the back of the box.
can you please help me with mine too?? thanks
Hi, your computer only has a geforce 4 MX graphics card - this doesn't have what's called a 'pixel shader' so can't draw the game, sorry.
can you also help me with mine??
thanks

Same sort of problem as the two above - you don't have a graphics card in your computer that can run the game, sorry.

:( Can you create and attach a dxdiag report (instructions a few posts up)?
Here it is attatched.
Ok same problem as the others I'm afraid :( - your computer doesn't have dedicated a graphics card that can play the game.
How do I update my card? Does it cost money?
It would cost money, but whether you can or not depends on your computer. Do you have a model name and number on the front of the Dell? It should be something like Dimension 4600 or Optiplex 280 etc.

It says Dimension 8110
Ok I've had a quick look at that model, it seems that it doesn't have any dedicated expansion slot for graphics cards, but it does have normal expansion slots for other devices.
That means that you can buy a slow graphics card and put it in a slot for a normal device to be able to play the game, but it will run slowly because it's only running in a normal slot.
What you need to look for is a PCI card - NOT PCI-Express or AGP.
To get MHAM running properly you need at least a geforce 6 series - so I would aim for a 6200 PCI card. Don't expect it to play all that well though.. but it will work. Try and get one that doesn't say turbocache - you have very little RAM and a turbocache model steals some of it for the graphics card!
An example one to get is this one:

I'm unable to play as well, can you tell me why?

You also have an integrated graphics chip rather than a proper one.. however at least yours isn't Intel. That means I'm not sure whether it'll work or not.
One thing you should try is installing DirectX 9, because your computer might not have it (it might only have 10):

Same problem - your graphics card probably isn't powerful enough. It's less clear cut in your case - we have had one report of a FX series card working in the real game but not the demo, and the minimum specifications say it should. We've just had lots of other people struggle to get it working.
Try updating your graphics card drivers to the latest version (www.nvidia.com) and see if that helps.

i suspect my partner's graphics card is too old (i gather from what i see in the dxdiag that it's GeForce 4 - which is too old)
but i need to know if the other specs are good enough before i upgrade the card. may as well spiff the 'puter up with all the needed adaptions...
actually, this computer is running winXP, but only SP1.... is that going to be a problem?

Right well first thing you should do is bung a bit more RAM in there - you only have 512mb which could slow the computer down whenever you have multiple things open - I'd recommend getting a 512mb stick (20 quid) to take it up to 1gb total.
Then, yes, your geforce 4 is of the dreaded MX sort, which won't run this game (or any games that use pixel shaders). You have an AGP port which will take a lot of different graphics cards - I recommend a 6600GT or better from nvidia or an X800/X1600 or better from ATI to be able to play this game with the details turned up. They are easy to find second hand quite cheaply, but if you want to buy new you'll probably be ok with a 8400GS or better from nvidia or HD 3450 or better from ATI, both around 27 quid.
Finally yes you will need SP2, but this is a free upgrade from Microsoft http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sp2/default.mspx. When you have upgraded, don't forget to get the latest DirectX and video card drivers as well (updated sound drivers might be good too).
Your CPU is fine though ;)

Yes both your graphics card and ram are good for this game :)
