View Full Version : Colster's Classic Cruise
OK Petrol Heads, let's do this:
DATE: 29th January - that's Tuesday

...see my post below for more details
Who would be up for Class G Classics Only Cruise?
Plan is to meet at the Spyker dealership then on to the race known as Old School Racing a bit south along the coast from the lighthouse, this will take us through the Kelekole Pass.
It's not about the speed, its about the style so bring along something beautiful (let's not all just bring Shelby's), would be nice to see some old classics like the E-Type, AC or Gullwing in some whacked out paint jobs.
Usual cruise rules, no intentional fishtailing or ramming and regroup when requested (and stand still for photos! ;) )
I'm in the UK so times will be quoted in GMT and I was thinking say 1930 hours to meet up?
Post below and name a car you wanna bring (stock or tuned doesn't matter), see if we can get one of each Class G there - I would probably bring my Black Maserati 3500GT but I don't mind choosing something else to complete the list

I would, but I don't have acess to the race track yet.
Do you have to complete EVERY challenge to get in?
I find them really boring.

To access the racetrack, you need to be at champion level. View "Game Progress" under "info" at any of your houses to find out how many more points you need to reach champion, and what you have to do to get the points.
Cruise sounds good, I'd like to join you. Is it tonight? (as you didn't mention a day)
Can I bring my GT500 (it's my most favourite car, painted like Eleanor)?
Won't be possible to get one of each G class, as there are 11 G class cars, and you can only have up to 8 people in a server instance.

I'm in, with my Firebird.
...and "annoying Saleen/Zonda crowd" part is very unlikely, due to 8 players restriction :)

Thanks, I'm at 425, I need 450.
Do you only win points once for completing a challenge?
i.e would I win another 30 points for doing the island tour again?
You can only pick up those points once but look through some of the other things you can do, things like own 3 bikes (and some of the cars too give you points for owning 3 of the same manufacturer) or join a club etc - they all earn you points.
As far a date, nothing is decided yet, I was seeing if there was the interest in a Classic's Cruise - it seems that there is, so we will continue to plan and revise the route to maybe leave out Oahu Track - not so much because we can't annoy the Saleen/Zonda crowd (don't get me wrong I own one of each, just thought it would nice to see the old boys having a puff round the track) but I wouldn't want to restrict it to champion's only.
What do you lot think?

DATE: 29th January - that's Tuesday

Remember it's Class G only so bring out your classics and show off those paint jobs and drifting skillz - I say drifting skillz as I have a little plan/route.
MEETING POINT:
The Spyker/Koenigsegg Dealers.. here:
http://81.19.219.165/files/tdu_pics/cruise_start.JPG
its fairly central on the island just south of the Lambo dealers
then while you're waiting set your GPS to this location:
http://81.19.219.165/files/tdu_pics/cruise_end.JPG
This will give you the route so it should make it easier to stay together and take us through what I think is the best road on the Island - The Kelekole Pass, lots of drifting opportunities round the twisting mountain roads.
http://81.19.219.165/files/tdu_pics/20080126040250.jpg
I'll probably be in this or my AC
The route will take us all the way through the pass then on to the south coast.

I'll be there but I've never drifted with Firebird. Anyway I'm at a very beginner stage of learning to drift so don't laugh
I hear lots of great engine sounds already mdr1

7.30pm tonight? Sounds good. I'll bring my Camaro in an orange paint scheme. I believe it's stage 3 tuned but the top speed is less than 140mph so I won't be leading the pack. :p

Meh, I'll have to remember to make a bookmark of that race, as it won't be there for those of us in HC mode ;)
Anyhows, *should* be able to make it :)
I'll try and make it, but don't wait for me if I can't :p

Meh, maybe I won't come ;)
Dunno if this is a good idea but I thought it might inject some fun into the proceedings.
If we get at least 6 ppl along tonight, we will have a little concourse style competition. So the car I judge to be the awesomest (is that a real word?) will get this custom painted Jaguar E-Type Coupe (for minimum "Trade" value).

http://81.19.219.165/files/tdu_pics/20080129135210.jpg
Some rules and disclaimers - my choice is final, the car will then be offered for $1,000 on trade at a time to be agreed between myself and the winner. If the winner fails to collect the car in time and it goes to another buyer - then that's just tough lol... it's just intended as a bit of fun.
How could you do that to such a classic car?? tonguegre
Innit typical, you make a generous donation and still ppl whinge

Good point Randy, it didn't occurred to me! What would I do without u?!? :respect: ;)
As long as you drop your GPS target somewhere near there, we will all be on the same route then.
I will probably park up somewhere near the garage a while before so look out for me

Short notice, but I should be able to make it (if I'm not still stuffing my face with me tea).
As my wheel's started acting up again, I may fly off the road a few times during the cruise, due to it spiking.

Well it went well but not as expected:
Once we hit the magic 8 and were about to line up for pre-cruise photo, we all dropped and lost each other, then when we managed to re-connect we were reduced to three in my instance
http://81.19.219.165/files/tdu_pics/20080129194214.jpg
We set off and completed the Kelekole Pass but dropped Kalniel just before the photo

http://81.19.219.165/files/tdu_pics/20080129195844.jpg
We continued on to the Lighthouse (with a quick car change to the Maserati for me) only to find this lot there:
http://81.19.219.165/files/tdu_pics/20080129201150.jpg
So we then just cruised the sea road for a bit

before ending up back at the Lighthouse

Kalniel was the Concourse Winner and gets the Jaguar E-Type Coupe as his prize.

EDIT: Ok Kal I give u a huge credit for being in 2 separate halves of the same cruise simultaneously, so u really deserve it :respect:
Funny isn't how ur PC refused to include his Merc after it won the concourse - sour grapes?! lol

There were 6 of us at Kelekole and it was fun so don't u worry about that.
U were constantly playing a ghost (instead of host  ), driving through me, jumping like mad. U should really check your connection :mefiant:

LOL great photo! I trust you could see the car for the rest of the cruise?
Yeah the split was a bit of a pain, but both halves set off and went at about the same speed so if I dropped from one I seemed to automatically appear in the other

Agreed, it was a fine cruise - I'll try and grab you ingame sometime, but don't worry if not - I don't mind you donating it to someone else if I'm too hard to find :)

Twas a most excellent cruise. I only got the one pic right at the beginning before we all set off (can't remember if it was before or after the big dropout).
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee66/Night_Fusion17/TDU/th_TDU_08_01_29-classic-cruise.jpg (http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee66/Night_Fusion17/TDU/TDU_08_01_29-classic-cruise.jpg)
After it finished at the lighthouse, me and pogo went on a mysterious journey across Oahu, first going up tot he house near the lighthouse with the really long twisty road, then proceeded south-ish down the centre of the island, through the city, then curling North at the south-eastern most point, before he had to go. I didn't get any pics during this bit though...
Off topic begins here:
And it seems a new gremlin has appeared with my P. M. G25, occasionally (about 5 times during the cruise, and a few after) my clutch pedal loses calibration, so even if it's fully depressed, the engine still stalls. Only way to fix it is to press it about half way, then unplug it, then plug it back in again, so the stupid Logitech software can auto-calibrate it. Of course, every time I plug it in, I have to half press it, otherwise it thinks it is in the middle, when actually the pedals fully up.

Heh, sorry I disappeared guys, things sprung up. At least I managed to meet up with kal in game :) Was for the 15mins or whatever I was there
I think we should do it again sometime, the class G's are great to do that sort of cruise in or someone pick another theme - All Brits, All Convertibles, All US Muscle...whatever really. The Jaguar could even be passed around as a trophy for some decided prize on the night - best paint job, most spectacular crash off the edge of a cliff, best photo etc.
How about meet at the Nolan dealers then head up the hill to the house Fusion was talking about (the hill you do a Class B timed bike race up - called something like Top of the World). Of course being a dead end we'd have to then come back down but I think it would be awesome.
Ironically enough I actually bought that house tonight to keep my Shelby's in.
I'll try and make sure my lodger isn't streaming movies off joox.net at the time in future

Yep, good cruise. Bit short in my opinion but riding at lower speeds was a lot of fun. I did indeed stay on for at least another hour with Night_Fusion while he got his car to show over 500 miles on the clock. We cruised down the central freeway, through the city, then headed past the SW lighthouse and finally called it a night somewhere near the beginning of the the east coast road. mdr1 :salut2:
