Grooming

I have had a problem with grooming. The horse never seems to be dirty and as a result I can't unlock some items. Has anyone run into this besides me?

The horse should get dirty as soon as you enter the grooming game - what happens when you start the grooming?

Sorry for the delayed reply. Pretty much what happens is nothing. I groom the horse with the brushes and hose but nothing changes about the horse.

Have you tried spinning the horse around and trying the other side?

I think I'm going to reinstall the game, maybe it glitched when installing.

To unlock more grooming items or icons you need to complete the Outdoor & Forest Level 1 Competitions

I got Gold in Outdoor & Silver in the forest.

This is on DS

I have the PC Version. I have already beat the game I just haven't unlocked everything. These are the grooming options I have: Hard Brush, Soft Brush, Sponge, and Hose.

I reinstalled the game but no change. One thing I noticed is that when I go into grooming there is grass while some people get stones. Why is that? Could that be the problem?

It depends on which version you are playing, on the PC you hold the left mouse button and drag, on the Wii you use the joystick on the nunchuck. I don't know about the DS one.

I had the same problem. My horse was never dirty until my daughter (4 years old) changed the vidoe quality in the options by mistake (or better by clicking around...). The game was at that moment really unplayable (less than 4fps, because only nvidia 6100), but the horse was dirty (you saw more dirt than horse ;-) ). After i changed the video quality back to lowest quality, the horse was clean again and no dirt was seen...

So i have to change this option always if i want to clean the horse. And it take more than a minute because the game must restart everytime you change this.

I´ve tried to ask the mod of the Germ form if this is normal (In Germany nobody seems to have the problem with the undirty horses, expect me...), but i´m waiting still for the answer.

If you change the video quality, the colour of the ground, the textures of the horse and your person change. Also the arrows on the ground move different (would look cool, if the frame rate would be acceptable)
So I think, this could be the reason....

what resolution do you have it on?? is the horse all light/creamy colour when you want to groom it?? try the overo 1 colour. and it should work. you would see dirt. enter a few competitions, then you'll be able to use any colour for the horse and you'll be able to see the dirt and unlock competitions. i tried doing that and it worked for me since i had the same problem!! hope this helps!!

I have switched back and forth the quality settings and nothing changes, not the ground, horse, or person. The only difference is that the game runs smoother and not all choppy. I also tried the Overo I thing and the horse still looks pretty and clean after multiple competitions.

Yes. Press and hold the right mouse button and drag horizontally. The horse turns! :)

Hi Elirog,

The horse doesn't really look terribly dirty at all. You just have to spin it around and keep grooming until a paragraph says: Well done! You have finished grooming the horse. It takes a really long time for me, about 40 min. Use all of the tools you have as much as you can. I have the same tools you did a few posts ago. I haven't unlocked any new ones yet.

Well, it worked. Unfortunatly it only worked once. Can't get it to work again and I don't have 40 mins to spend. It only takes me 10 minutes to groom my horse in real life. Unless of course he is getting a bath, at least it's more interesting. :)
