Speed Car Review: RUF RT 12 vs. Ferrari 360 CS

Yes, I've been busy waiting for 7-9 P.M. (my time) on Friday so I can film my next movie - well, the chase part anyway. :wink2:

But yes, I've compared the RUF RT 12 and the Ferrari 360 CS. And I'm surprised at the times as well, but the 360 can't really pull out of corners as well as I could hope. :noooo:

Oh, and I added a lap times section. I know, that 288 GTO doesn't seem like a real time. I'm going to take it for another lap to find another one.

I ran about the same time with the 288GTO (untuned, HC mode, auto clutch, I think you used the same setting)! The 360CS's time is really nice, I've run this time with the F430, which is a little faster, but it seems that the 360 has better handling. The Shelby Cobra and the Ferrari 250GTO are amazing! However, I think the G class isn't separated because of the performance of the cars, but the age, as it contains only cars made before 1980. Newer cars (but still classics) are in other groups. And we can easyly say, that G class is faster than F class, as the fastest vehicles in G class can beat the fastest ones in F, and the slowest car in the game is the Chevy SSR from F class.
Amazed on the Chrysler 300C's slowness too, I thought that could do a better time!

Yeah, I thought the Saturn Sky would do better as well... The only difference in testing is I use the clutch, but in all, our times should be similar.

Yes, the Ferrari 360's handling is VERY good. And it has great grip, though, and it doesn't slide as much.

lol, I recon I can beat your time :p how do you measure? because the game doesn't have a built in timer does it? or do you enter MP challenges and only use it for racing?

Will give it a try :D really am curious about those laptimes and never did any racing in TDU (not in HC, just cruising and not for at least 8months)

I have a watch timer. :) (I know, I know, not the most accurate form of measuring, but it works, and I think I've managed to get it pretty accurate.) Oh, and all my tests are standing-start.

I won't ever even consider driving the ferrari again untill it's sound is fixed. It's not just as fake as it could possibly be, it's actually UNPLEASANT to listen to. And not just a little, quite unpleasant. Unpleasant enough for me not to drive it even though it's a pretty good looking car and it handles nice. It's a shame something like that can pass the quality control of a pretty experienced game studio like this.

YAY! now doing the "The Reward" Challenge in HC without any driving aid, clutch or transmission on automatic. 2nd time round 2.02.96 and MUCH room for improvement :) In my RT12 that is.

One thing bothering me though, why is my dashboardwheel moving so incredibly slow :hin: don't think it affects controls but it takes some getting used to and gives the impression you can't make sudden movements.

Also I don't know how to turn off that stupid Green line :(

I'll give it another try onces someone else beats it ;) autoclutch is fine by me, as is auto gearbox...
Just know I use no help at all, everything manual and most important use HC :)

Also my RT12 is untuned, I did use a G25 (wheel angle at 460).

My G25 is set to 900 degrees.

Okay, okay so I gave more practice time in the Ferrari, despite the horrendous sound (I didn't want to exagerate the sound terribleness in the article Dustwave) than I did in the RUF. Okay. :p

Hey Dustwave - we can't talk about sound mods here, but we can at a certain page on TDU:C, one which has a link to the sound for a certain B-Class Ferrari in the Megapack that can come with racing stripes. :wink2: I'v tried those two packs before, i rather use the game's original sounds. Not a single one of the mods was technically seen right, especially the transitions between RPM ranges sound bad in most. Can't help being picky, audio is my work and my hobby.

I've done the test with many G class cars, only Lambo Miura, The Shelbys, and the Aston Martin left. The results are (later I will write in the others):

Yes, you can see, the slowest car isn't in the G group (I think in G group the 300SL is the slowest, the Aston, the Shelbys, and the Lambo should be faster).

I did this test in october on Oahu raceway. And this is the slowest even in normal mode! In hardcore mode it absolutely has no chance, cause it's much heavyer than the Maserati or the Merc.

Wow! Than there are 2 possible facts:
- You're a lot faster than me

-The 612 Scaglietti is way better than the 575M Maranello:)

If my memory doesn't cheat, I did 2:05 with the Maranello. 2:02 with the 288GTO. As soon as I'll get to champion again I'll go out there and do some tests:)

Hm, I've bought a Ford Mustang GT Convertible today, I didn't bought it many times before, I always thought it has awful handling, but now it felt really nice, just need a little more agressive driving style:)
I've found the handling of that car improves dramatically when you tune it by Saleen - more than it does if you let Ford tune it. It does wreck the engine sound though, you can barely hear the Saleen one

I just bought the Testarossa, and I love it! Here are my opinions:
- First, this car looks good, and sounds good
- It accelerates bad (because of the very very long 1st and 2nd gear), but if you got through the first 2 gears, you can go really fast with it! It reaches more than 290 km/h in 4th! (so you don't need to use 5th too much :laugh: )
- It handles like a dream, so you can hold a minimal speed at a normal track, that you don't need to shift down to first! But slower corners could be a problem, cause you need to accelerate again.
- The gearbox has some advantages as well, I found it really really good when I did the knockout challenge (don't know the name) that's near the McLaren/Farboud/Ascari/Noble dealer!

I'm very curious about how it compares to the GTO. The GTO is supreme, and I'm sure it's faster round the track, but how much?

Edit: One more car, the Crossfire!!! I have the roadster, and it handles like nothing else on earth!!! The easyest thing to drive, absolutely! But sadly it has only 330bhp:/
