Is it just me or does it tell you, you now need your email address to login but keep logging you out and when you log in again, tell you it doesn't recognise your email address as a valid username, then when I use my username it tells me I have clicked on an invalid thread?

..and these images are missing:

Nice to see Atari's testing regime is still as tight as ever

Hi ten, its Lwsbrck, or otherwise, Crazed Dodgem...

It would appear that there has been a mess up with my user ID, I can't log into the new system with crazed dodgem, and the email lewis_brock[at]hotmail.com doesn't have any matching users.

I've got a feeling that this is to do with teh change of name i had a while back, it appears to me that I've reverted to my american login details, as it is using my googlemail email as-well...

This account has no posts and is brand new :(

Cheers ten.

Lewis

Took me 4 attempts also- but use the 'login' button- don't try to post a reply before you login or you'll get an error.

not 100% polished-heh, guess it's not performance related.

heh, tried to 'post' again before I hit the 'login' button on top- and got the old login screen asking for your user name and password- this doesn't work. You MUST login with the 'login' button on top using your e-mail address and correct password.

Can seem to login ok but keep seeing when trying to edit profile:

"Your registration has not been confirmed" with the Confirm my Email option.

Click on Confirm my email and don't actually receive anything, d'oh!

Technically, because the old cookies system has gone. I don't know why and I'll ask if it's possible to have it back, seeing I'm not the only one suffering from it ;)

This new login system is completely useless. I 'upgraded' my account. But now every time I login with the email address, I get taken to an account management screen, not my User CP - some other waste of time. Doesn't take me back the thread I was on - so I have to manually put the URL back in for the old page.

Also - I'm not getting half as many emails for new posts in subscribed threads. How come? Shame the TDU forum section now has the boring red/white colour scheme as the rest of the site. Uuuuggggly.

Couldn't agree with you more! I wish it could remember me, so I wouldn't have to log in every day, and if I go do something else (like go play TDU) for a couple of minutes, and don't post on the forums, it logs me out automatically! weirdblue
And then, when I have finally logged in for the fiftysecond time, atleast it could let me back to the topic I was looking at

I HATE clicking the "Reply" or "Quote" button and then having to login because it didn't remember me and then realising that it goes to the "My Atari" screen and that I have to go back to the main TDU PC Forum page, and if I don't remember the name of the thread, back to my email and then going into it again and finally posting the reply.

^Rant of the day, sorry. tonguegre

Hiya Ten, I noticed the other day that the return path address set in the account email address verification and forgotten passwords emails seems to be set to the hostname of your apache server. Looks like Hotmail, probably among others may be blocking these messages as spam at their borders.

M_3628905
06-06-2008, 01:09
When you get an email in regard to a new PM - it tends to take you to the old style login page (which worked for me only once). Getting the redirection fixed up helps a bit now, but the un-expiring cookie would be preffered.

Edit- When not logged in, and clicking on Kals pic, it also showed me the old style login. I actually thought Kals pic was of the old login page which prompted the previous sentance
I'm guessing it expires because of the link to the E-Store above. It should have its own cookie that does expire, separate to the forums.

Getting a strange error now when I have been logged in for a bit... after a while (say an hour or so), the forum will show me as logged off when looking at threads but when I click to Reply or Post a new thread it will come up page cannot be displayed. If I click Log In it just reloads the existing page.

The only way round this is if I click the "Support" link at the top, it takes me to my account manangement page and shows me as logged in, then I have to click "Log Out", then go back to the post and click "Reply" and then it will take me to the log in page.

M_3628905

I had the same thing earlier too, was browsing for a bit, cookie expired, and then I couldn't login again since the Page couldn't be displayed. Closed IE for a while and came back later.

I've found that if you visit the forum and are not logged in click on PC/Console games and you should be logged in then click Forums and you will then also be logged into the forums. Looks like they're getting their! :)

M_3628905

They were "there" before they changed things - looks like they need to be reminded of the steps of the System Development Life Cycle - planning and testing come before implementing :)

kalniel
09-06-2008, 11:10
They were "there" before they changed things
Yes, and text based programs also worked 100% fine...

If you want new features you occasionally have to take the risk of creating bugs/problems. The change to the backend of the forums is huge, just because you can't see it it doesn't mean they've just broken things for the sake of it.

And having cookies that expire too early is really a very minor (though annoying) problem compared to what else could have bugs - so in that respect the testing has worked, and it's better to have too much security than too little.

Three issues with the Quick Reply feature newly added:

1: Subscribed users do not get an email notification about the new post.

2: In the list of threads, the author of the quick reply is not shown on the right as the last person to post there.

3: (unconfirmed, but very likely) - The thread doesn't move to the top of the list under the Stickies on Page 1 as being active.

Kal, The TDU login is still not working right. When you login in a thread you get the old login screen asking for user name, NOT the NEW required 'login with e-mail address' screen.

Is this "still" being worked on? I am still having problems staying logged in. Now it will invariably tell me I have clicked an invalid link if I click to go back or refresh a page that has been open for a while. Going back a couple more pages will usually then show ok and I will still be logged in, the other result is it will show the page ok but I will not be logged in.

Also noticed an issue if I spend a long time writing a post or leave it and come back to it later without submitting. I then get a blank page when I hit submit, when I go back a page the text has gone. I have started copying the text to the clipboard just in case now.
