same here! help!
(seems we are alone... in the dark mdr1)
XP SP3 avec DX9
Atlon64 3200+
3Go RAM
Gforce 8400 GS
son AC'97 (realteck)
switching (alt+tab) shows the EldenGame process, but sometimes quickly a DD process(with the alone icon)
This happens to me too, on XP SP2.
I've the digital delivery version from Atari-store.
Symptom is : after the initial credits, the screen goes black with only a spinning object in the lower right corner. Using the Task Manager I saw the Eden process taking all (100%) the cpu. It is possible to terminate the process, so the system is not locked.
I did a full reinstall, but got the same result.
My drivers are up to date, too.
I've a single processor machine (Athlon 3700+), but with a powerful graphic card, and I'm able to play many other recent games (e.g. Mass Effect) quite well.

This game doesn't work on single core processor I think, in fact it must be working but it's very very long to load. Like dematbreizh say there are 2 threads launch in the same time. So in multi core processor this two thread (Eden and DD) working in the same time, but in a single core it's one thread per clock (I can't remember the english word for "coup d'horloge" in french) so... It's really really longer... too bad for people who still have a single core but ... It can't be fix I think.
That's all folks

first success:
I stopped ALL programs, explorer.exe too, and launched the game by the task manager.

I have this same problem, but the game does not hang in the loading screen, it just takes really really really long to load. It took me about 10 minutes to get to the main menu and the levels take about 15 minutes to load.
I posted about this problem too here http://forums.eu.atari.com/showthread.php?t=83841
I hope we get some help on this issue, the game is unplayable because of this.

Major, you are spamming. This post is for a game INSTALLED.
Once my game launched, loadings are goods!mdr1

I was just fearing this. I think it has a process just to read from the .fat .big files, that look like an encrypted file system (so copy protection again, or needed for console compatibility?).

However, it seems that dematbreizh made it run on an Athlon XP 3200+. So I have some hope.

I mannaged to get it to run by changing the Processes priority to high and close every other program, once ingame it runs fine so I think its something they should be able to easilly patch
Good news and bad news.
Good first: I was able to run the game on my single core pc.
I did a bit of streamlining and defrag, then I launched the game and just waited. After a long time (about 30 mins) the intro movies and the main menu appeared. I exited the game and launched it again, and it only took a couple of mins to have the main menu back! I was happy!
Then I launched the game, and waited for the first episode. And waited... and waited. About 20 mins. So I exited again, and relaunched. Now I had to wait only a couple of mins for the main menu and a couple of mins for the first episode. Good. I tried launching the second episode, and again it took 20mins to load, but after the first time reloading the second episode was reasonable.
I moved back and forth between the main menu, the first and the second episode, closing the game and relaunching it. Load times stayed reasonable.
Ok, everything is good so far, have to wait at each episode but only the first time (I think there is a thread that decrypts the data somewhere). A reasonable strategy would be to launch each new episode (without looking at it) that you plan to play in a session, not the best but bearable.
Now the bad part :
I turned off my PC, rebooted, and launched AITD. It was exactly as the first time !!! I had to wait 30 mins for the menu, and 20 mins for the first episode again!!!
So wherever the decompressed/decrypted data go, they are all wiped when the user logs off.
Now, every time I wish to play I'll have to turn on the pc a couple of hours before, launch the game and start each of the episodes I'm planning to go through. This is quite annoying.
Anyway, it seems the problem is not tied to the game itself, only to the way it is managed from the file system point of view (and I suspect this has to do with copy protection). So I think it can be addressed without a total rewrite.
I think that, since the decrypted data go somewhere, the programmers could make the persistent instead of wiping them at logoff (unless they go into some kind of memory cache).
Let's hope the devs are sensitive to the single core users pleas.
ciao
P.S. for the little I've seen so far, the graphic looks awesome ...
Ok, other (not so good) news : I went more into the game, and the loading thing seems to happen also inside episodes. So it is more waiting time between sequences, sigh...
I did the change priority trick suggested by Philipuk1983, and it works!
I even found in the net an utility that remembers the priority setting : 'Prio Priority Saver', look for it.

Well... i bought the game, and i know i run with a single core... but when i read the system requirements i saw this:
windows vista/xp:
-I have xp: Tjeck
2.2 Ghz proccessor:
- 3.3 Ghz Tjeck
2 gb ram:
- 3 gb ram tjeck
nvidea Geforce 7800 GTX
- Nvidea Geforce 9800 Gt... Tjeck
... Nothing that says "Minimum requirements:Dual core processor..." (if it is what is needed) wich i think is an major error not to inform.
I dont plan on getting a dual core processor since i run games fine.. and i would have to look into something i dont know much about.
Any way, ill keep the game, might play it in the future.
