Here's one for you:

Whenever I try to connect to my brother on the same network as me in TDU via the map - my game crashes (TDU encountered a problem...)

If he tries to connect to me, my game crashes and my car is left there for him to push around for 20 seconds.

The night before I took some parts back for warranty (which have just returned) we had a cruise together with no glitches. I've tried a restart - I've tried booting into Vista but the whole PC froze then (I so hope that a reformatting of Vista will mean no more freezes), and so on. I'd been cruising with others no worries either - apart from the usual spend 5 mins trying to connect to Des before giving up or getting lucky. :)

You have always used seperate copies of TDU right?

Yep - separate disks, serial keys, etc. He doesn't have the mega pack but I was using a legacy car anyway.

I'm not sure in my recent modding activity if I touched the file for the car he was in - so I'll just check that out first. (Trying to drive a cop car for a movie scene - which didn't work).

I suspect then that it's something to do with the way your router handles (or doesn't) peer to peer connections within your network then. When you join the same instance as someone else you form connections with them directly, which asks a router/modem to do some fairly complicated stuff routing some traffic between your computers while routing other traffic to and from outside servers and getting it back to the right computer again.

Try removing any peer to peer restrictions in the setup, remove SPI, make sure you're on a full cone NAT, and you don't have any port forwarding restrictions.

Actually I was right about the modding - as soon as he swapped cars we had no problems connecting again :o)
