It's alright for the price but it's a mid-range card so don't expect anything near amazing from it for £97 you could get a 3870, tripple the price but it's worth it. The last thing you want to do is buy something and regret it after getting poor performance out of it....

Hey guys, nice to be back :D

anyways, I have the choice of a 8800GT 512mb or HD 3870 512mb.... which one should i pick ?

My computer specs at the moment need to run a monitor with resolution of 2560x1600

2.66 Quad Core
2Gb ram
X1900XT 512mb (for now)

Well what would you rather running 2 mid range at best gpu's and still getting poor results or 2 top range cards and being blown away. 2* mid range does not a good gpu make.

You are limited buy mobo on this one i have a 3870 and am going to set another up in crossfire soon. The best i've seen to date...
Is your mobo ati or intel, amd or nvidea. This genrely means crossfire or sli...

If you can get the 3870 hd gdr4 dx 10.1 capable over an nvidea any day...
but totaly byast on this one myself....

Yeah i understand budget constraints but a little restraint until you can buy something better is more economical. Dabs sells a 3870 for £87 and change at the moment which is a £10 pound drop since last week.

currently I can only use paypal for paying for things

My missus is in charge and I bow down to her with money but she has said that whatever i sell on ebay i can use to fund the new pc purchases so I am constrained by budget

and 87 on a gfx card is not an option

Only those have mac versions. I'm sticking with my x1900xt for now :D, got 25fps at 2560x1600 res and high details and AF x16 with no AA, don't need AA :D
