Here are some avatars for Ace Combat 6. Hope you like 'em. I'll post some more every now and then, and even some of my own, so check back every now and then. All updates made will be displayed underneath To select a picture as your avatar, look at t he one you want. Remember the code above the picture itself, and look at the bottom of the post for it. When you see the exact code, click on it and it should open another window. At the top it should have a URL link that starts with the letters 'http://'. Copy the entire URL link, and go into your profile edit on the forum. Go to either Avatar or Profile Picture, your choice, and then follow the instructions on the page, paste the URL link in the box and click save.

If you want me to make any avatars, or anything else, just post here or send me a message.

UPDATES

-More avatars added, #025-030
-System redesigned, changes may continue. If you are confused on how to take an avatar for yourself, read above.
-Slight problem with the preview picture, yea I am aware. It is due to Photobucket's picture size limit. Working on a solution.

Thank you for the warm welcome. Right now I'm trying to get my video capture card working so that I can take some of my own pictures. I'll be posting some more soon!

Unfortunately, the forum only allows me to post a certain amount of pictures, so I'll have to find another way to show a preview of each avatars. I've already found a way to do it, but I'll need to redo some of the things here, meaning the next avatars won't be posted for some time until I get this sorted.

What program do you use?

What program do you use?

I use several different programs, but my main one is Adobe Photoshop CS3. Its just much more performant than other programs out there, plus it allows me to do much more things due to its type of tools. I used Photoshop a lot for editing pictures of Flight Simulator. For this sort of job though, its very easy to do and takes about 3 mins.

Is Adobe Photoshop CS3 any good? I used Photoshop 7.0 about 3 years ago.

Its quite an advanced program and does take a bit of training to get used to, but with it you can practicly do anything from CGI shots to filters to 3D shots (although I'd recomend 3D Studieo MAX or Zbrush for 3D pictures). Once you get the hang of it though, you can pretty much do anything you want with it. Here is an example from one of my friend's edit on a Flight Simulator picture:

Its really amazing what you can do. In fact, the person who made the shots above really makes some great stuff. Here's some more of his work:

Once you get the hand of the program, it reall gets easy to use. Actually since we're on the subject, I could show you more of his if you want to see more of the things you can do.

Nice - shame PS is so expensive!

But have you heard of The GIMP? It's an open source image manipulation program that has quite a lot of PS style things, though it's a little bit trickier to use.

Yes, it is very expensive unfortunately. But, here's a little tip: If you go to Adobe's website, you can download a trail version of Photoshop for 1 month. So, if you download the CS3 first, and after the time runs out, download the older CS2, and then Photoshop Elements, and you'll basically get 3 months free to test it out, which is pretty good.

I haven't heard of GIMP, but there are some free software on the Internet that do similar things as photoshop. All you need is a software that uses PSD format, and it will be able to do some of the things. Not all, but enough for you to make a good picture. :)

Yup, The GIMP can open and save as psd no problem. I think it can do everything that PS can too.

PashMaster

Well then you should normally be able to do everything you can in Photoshop using The GIMP. Normally, it should be a great program to start off with if you wanna edit pictures without having to pay a lot of money.

Once you get the hang of it, it gets really easy to start editing. :)

Here's a quick edit I did on the CFA-44 earlyer today. Nothing special, just a little coloring edit to make it look nicer. Tell me what you think of it, and if you've got any improvement or suggestions.

So 7.0 isn't that good for this?

PashMaster
04-08-2008, 20:56
So 7.0 isn't that good for this?

Oh no, all the photo shops are all great, and with 7.0 you should be able to do the exact same thing as CS3. The only thing is that every year, they upgrade the program and add things like smarter filters, different tools etc. They keep all the things from the old ones in, so you'll notice the layout and everything is the same. So there's no major difference between them.

A lot of the people I know started out on 7.0 as its an easier and good program from the photoshop series. Anything done in CS3 can be done in 7.0. If you want, I can send you some links to where I got some training aids from for use with 7.0. :)

What would you choose? I can get Photoshop 7.0 free from one of my family member's work.

It really depends on what you wanna do with it. I'd recommend going with the cheapest one if your unsure, and if you ever want to upgrade to a newer version you can always do so, but only pay for the upgrade and not the whole program (it'll cost you less for upgrade). Or you can go with the newest one, CS3. Either way, it should cost you the same amount in the end either way.

But as I said, it depends on what you wanna do with it. CS3 is usually better for more complex CGI shots because of its smart filters and better tools.

No problem, I'm glad I could help. Also, I've made a new system for the pictures so that I can display all of 'em at once. I'll need to do a few modifications on the post and everything, but this should be how it will look like from now on. Every now and then you may notice the style of the post changing, that's just me updating it or adding some new stuff in there. Normally, you should be able to cycle through each avatars and select them. If something happens to the post, your pictures will keep on working. They are not reliant on the post itself, so don't worry. ;)

Also, if you notice anything wrong, please contact me to let me now.

Thank you, and I hope this helps.

I will help with the reviews from my memory, because my Xbox 360 got the RROD last week.

Oh sorry to hear about that. If you go onto xbox.com, and register your xbox, you can actually see the progress of the repair though. ;)

Oh, and I'm back. I haven't been online much as my computer broke. Power Supply died. Got a new part, and just fitted it in, so I'm back now.
