Hi. I have had this game for about a month. I am a silver surfer, and I have managed to get to expert level, and have completed 19% of the game. I have a house that holds 8 cars, and 750,000 dollars in the "bank". I have 4 cars and 1 bike. Ferrari enzo, Ferari 430 spider, Lamborghini murcelago coupe, Mustang GT coupe and Ducatti 999R. What do I do next? Do I buy another house? Do I buy some more cars? Do I save up and buy a Mcdlaren F1? Do I buy the mega pack add-on (I only paid £7.50 for the full game, why does it cost £9.99 for 48 cars that look cr*ppy on screen?). I would love your comments. Well done Lewis Hamilton. The most exciting GP I have ever watched.

Well u can't make progress in game just buying stuff. The main goal is to successfully finish all the challenges in the island. But before u finish them, u first have to find them, scattered throughout the island, along the roads. If u wanna be sure u found all the challenges, make sure u drove past every single road. Unlocked roads are marked blue, still locked are gray on the map.
Find ur favorite car for each class and road style (straight, winding...) and this will be more than enough to win all the challenges.
Also check game progress section inside the house.
And btw, mega car pack cars are awesome, not crappy :nono:sour:
pack is still at full price, game is mostly on sale (however, TDU is an old game now). I paid 35€ for it.

Thanks for your advice.
I understand about the challenges, I have done some of them. I am sure the cars in the mega back are not crappy, they just look crappy when I come accross them on line. I sruggle with the on-line races and the parcel deliveries. I can`t afford a g25 wheel that you all seem to have. I have a logitach dual action gamepad

the crappiness factor might depend on your pc specs. If you have 512MB RAM, a single core cpu and an Nvidia 5200 then that might explain why the cars don't look so hot. As a reference, go view the threads in the Test Drive Unlimited section called Similarity Game, Caption Game, A Little Game With Pics. Those cars sure look hot Hot HOT! :)

I have new computer. Intel duo core E4600 2.4 ghz. 2.00 gb ram . vista home premium. ati grapics card 3450 hd

That graphics card, the ATI 3450 PCI-E is a low end model. It has 512mb of DDR2 memory with quite slow clock / memory speeds. I recommend an upgrade in the near future if you want to increase your monitors resolution and enable any anti-aliasing.

My own personal opinion - I would not buy a graphics card for less than £70 - £80 brand new and yours is available (new) on e-bay for £28 + £7 postage.

Your computer sounds like an 'off the shelf' model where you didn't choose the individual components but instead settled for for a whole pc out of a catalogue. That's not a bad thing but nowadays you need a least 2.4gig per core which you have and a better graphics card if you want to turn on all the visual quality settings.

There is no sarcasm here. I'm simply stating some facts and good advice. :)

Have a read of this review I found at the Toms Hardware website.

LOL! That's just because you can't see the megapack cars untill you buy the megapack! Untill then you just see that crappy orange default car

That was exactly the gamepad I've had before I got G25. It's quite excellent for TDU. In fact, in n00b mode (I mean arcade) sometimes u can achieve better times with it than with the ffb wheel. At least I did. The ffb wheel is the best solution for hardcore mode, that's for sure.

Do I buy the mega pack add-on (I only paid £7.50 for the full game, why does it cost £9.99 for 48 cars that look cr*ppy on screen?).The mega-pack is more expensive cause apparently you got a nice discount on the full game. And as for the cars looking crappy, that's entirely down to your computer specs, which, like you said above, aren't that great. Either that or you're blind.

Well u can't make progress in game just buying stuff.Actually, you can. You can earn quite a few gamepoints by buying a certain number of cars or houses.

The aim of TDU is to get to 100% (well 99% on the PC version anyway (interclub races don't really work). The purpose of the game is to just chill out in your favourite car of all time and cruise around the tropical island with friends you meet in the game or on these forums and fan sites. Eventually you will be able to afford every house and every car, and tune them up, and then buy every car again and not tune those ones up, etc.

To really enjoy the game, you want a high-end PC and the Logitech G25 steering wheel - and if you're loaded get a TrackIR as well

If you want to see great pics - head to the TDU Desktop Wallpaper (http://forums.eu.atari.com/showthread.php?t=70628) (warning you need a good internet connection or it will load slow with all those pics) thread (remember some image hosting sites compress pics, plus TDU already saves pics in JPEG format - so even my pics don't look as good as what I see on screen when I'm playing).

To be honest I don't see what you mean by 'advice'. Just play through the game, buy new cars, houses and unlock as much as you can/want to. :)
And, Megapack cars (as many people already said) are just the same quality as the others in the game - awesome. :)

I have reached expert level and I have completed all of the challenges that are showing on the main map. I can not figure out where to find/unlock more challenges to continue the game. Do I have to score 'perfect' in every challenge to reach the upper levels? Something like that? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

No - you just have to drive around more and unlock roads to find new challenges

Also go into your house - then goto Info - Game progress to see what you still have to do to reach the Champ and Ace levels
