Old and stuck at first hurdle

Episode 1, moved off lift and climbed to top of lift where the screen shows I need to release the hose/rope?
Tried every combination on my PC keyboard but can't get it done,
Help?

I am at top of the lift shaft in episode 1, I need to release the hose/rope to go down.How do I release it please
