6.0
+ High fidelity simulation and physics, especially if you hook up a steering wheel.
- Lifeless Career mode
- Baffling, pointless limations on race settings
? Did playing this game actually make us better drivers? "

I subscribe to OXM but I am on vacation right now so I can't read the new issue.
One thing I'm going to say here, is does it matter what the review score says? In terms of what I want it to be it seems like the plus points are where I want them. Career mode is always going to be a dead thing for me. Online competition is where it's at. Need to see about those limitations, but I'm not that worried.
Consoles are generally meant for the common or garden gamer, who doesn't want to get too deeply involved in games, wheras Race Pro isn't, or shouldn't be. The reviewer could be taking the casual gamer viewpoint, rather than the competitive racing gamer's viewpoint.
Or the game could be rubbish, but I truly doubt it.

Don't ever depend on the opinion of a gaming magazine, especially when it's an official one. These magazines reviews get worse by the day,one minute there giving a mediocre game a 10 out of 10 and next minute there dishing out low scores purely because the reviewer of that particular genre of game does not like it.
When it comes to opinion's on games, only ever listen to actual long term gamers of a particular game your interested in,yes there reviews will be after release, but these gamer's are the one's that actually spend some serious time on a game before they dismiss it.
If worse comes to worse, come release day and you dont like the game then you can always take it back. But never put a game off you have been really looking forward too on account of a bad review.

That's all I wanted to hear :)
One of my XBL Friends is a Games tester , and his office had it in a few weeks ago , and the office was split - the younger ones where like " Its rubbish , the cars dont go around the corners" , and the ones who knew what to expect loved it...
This game is never gunna get a big following , and the community that does love it will have will have to work together...
My Gues is this how it will go ...
PGR Fan = Hate Race Pro
GRID Fan = Hate Race Pro
Forza Fan = Like Race Pro but will find it hard to begin with.
GTR Fan = Will love it.
rFactor Fan = Will Love it.
Sadly the PGR,GRID fans are the larger group and we just have to ignore the barrage this forum will get after the release....
Magazine reviewers are human , and if the person reviewing it is in the PGR/GrID bracket then Race Pro will recieve a poor score...
Ignore reviews and see for yourself !!
I mean for the last three years the mags have been saying PES was better than Fifa and clearly it wasn't ! lol

When your 7 year old nephew drives on the track like a Pro, you know you have a real life WTCC champion in the making

If the phrase "Racing Sim" summons an image of solemn, cave like space kited out with a high end wheel, multiple monitors and a cockpit(rather than chair)-and that counts as a good thing-you are so gonna love Race Pro. It's monk-like devotion to pure race simulation is remarkable.... and it kind of a turn off for the rest of us.
Race Pro would really benefit from just one ounce of sex appeal. But instead, the career mode i an unapologetically dry list of races-you're tasked with a series of events in Groups A-H. No rookie drivers with stars in their eyes, no fictional leagues to master....not even a garage like hub for fiddling with your unlocked cars. The cars and environments are equally austere, and the slowdown when your car goes off the track is disappointing. Race Pro isn't ugly per se, but it seems hellbent on impressing you with the handling of it's cars and nothing else.
In that, it shines Switch to the cockpit view and turn off all the assists and you're in for one demanding ride. It feels extremely authentic, and it's gratifying to master the proper line around a track and start clocking better lap times it handles like a dream using the 360 wireless wheel-the finer degree control over the throttle and steering pays off enormously.
But some perplexing decisions make it hard for mere mortals to master. The medium setting becomes pretty easy after a short while, but he hard setting requires you to turn off all the assists-which means you'll barely be able to drive in a straight line unless your last name is Andretti. Since the difficulty levels don't let you tweak the opponent AI skill in the career mode, most players will be stuck 17+ seconds in Semi Pro, or screaming in frustration at their inability to stop spinning out every 10 feet in Pro.
Actually, most run of the mill race fans who try this game probably won't stay long before returning to Forza or Grid. The 12 player Live races might grab you a night or two, and you should try the oddball co-op mode that lets two players take turns driving one car in a race just so you can marvel at how weird it is. But Race Pro is really aimed at the hearts of a rare few, and you know who you are.
Exactly what I was hoping for! Slowdown when going of track I guess is necessary to keep cutting corners to a minimum.
Gah, this just got me even more hyped about the demo.

I wasn't sure whether he meant slowdown as in frame rate or the actual car.
Agreed about corner cutting, though the times won't count if doing a time attack. Woohoo!

Yes it definetly sound's like its lived upto our exspectations but i only hope the game gets better review score's than this.Yes the review points out that its for a simfan, but then gives it a 6 because the reviewer prefers the likes of pgr or something.
This game need's some reviews done by people who actually enjoy sim racers so that they can give it the score it deserves.
PS.Thank you copperhead for posting the review.

The slowdown is most likely referring to the fly paper effect on the wheels when the car is driven over grass or sand, especially at the corners. This is to prevent cheating.
The frame rate on the early preview builds are absolutely stable.

I disagree most people love all racing games weather its PGR, GRID, FORZA, ect. I will admit that the online racing with GRID and PGR is a bit for noobs.
But i will agree that if they do like GRID and PGR then they might not like Race Pro, Which is good for us it means CLEAN RACING ONLINE !!!!!!!!!!

I know not everybody is interested in this sort of thing, but i hope we can get to see the achievement list soon.It would be nice to see what they have done and if the achievements could actually help with driving abilities etc.

Ridge Racer Fan = Hate Race Pro - I want my nitrous really bad.
NFS Undercover Fan = Condemn Race Pro - Where's my hot Asian chick?!! How come I can't perform any Heroic driving moves (action combos)?!!! I want my car to be like a tank ramming vehicles at 300mph!!!! I want to break the law!!!!!
Too bad, EA Black Box all got it wrong. NFSU wasn't a simulation to be begin with and it wasn't even an arcade racer either. It was a total disaster.

Every need for speed game i ever seen always reminded me of those toy Porsche's you used to see in the 80's.Do you remember them?they had like a 911 front and inside it had a screen where you moved the car from side to side and the map scrolled down.
I think the Need for Speed franchise based its whole plan from that toy.

Haha, I loved those, weaving around the green road, even had a gear stick if I'm not mistaking.
