I have heard about and seen a few of the raining effects which take place during the races on Race pro and i personally am looking forward to racing a hp car on Brands hatch.

Although unless it forces me to have to do night racing in the 1 player career mode i wont do it any other time, never been a fan of night racing personally.

Two fan requests i never understand though, racing in the snow?,i have yet to see a race when its snowing and the track is iced over,in rally yes but never circuit racing. And the other is the leaderboard system,i dont see a need for a dry and wet leaderboard myself, the whole point of a fast lap is to do it in perfect condititions.I can sort of see the fun in it but i dont think it needs time wasted on a sperate bunch of leaderboards but perhaps it could log it on your own personal stats.

Anyway, what track in the rain using what car are you most looking forward to?.

Nürburgring in a koenigsegg in the wet, now that's a challenge ;)

I think a wet and a dry leaderboard would be good, there is no downside to having it so why not, might be fun comparing times in the wet as well.

Night racing I think is a nice addition (although there is no evidence of it actually being in the game), just to give it something special. Hopefully it's dynamic so that you can start in the day then drive through the night and finish in daylight, like a 24h only fast forwarded so it doesn't actually take 24h.

I just cant wait for this game nagge lol,it's the whole realistic pyshics that's getting me rev'd up and now that i ordered the Ms wheel just moments ago,i am really looking forward to this game so much.

With Forza i could'nt take it seriously so i never really got into it but with the whole history of Simbin pc racing games and now on console,we finally get a great game by them,it's all too much lol.

I wonder how detailed the rain will be though,i wonder if it even effects off track mistakes such as further added slide when you hit the grass.

the issue with wet and dry though is dependant on no dynamic weather - something i hope to have and thus make this issue void ;)

like GRID??? eck!.... they "tried" to have a lemans race there.... it seemed too quick for me... not enough day or night... but i guess nobody wants to race for 24 hours straight? or do they??... tonguegre

maybe an endurance race around 2 to 3 hours... ever done "the ring" for 75 laps??... I tried...and failed... lol.. my friend did it... with only one stop for some food and a quick pitstop to the can...

anyways, i think a 1 hour race would be enough time for a "24 hour" race to take place.... like the endurance races in FM2, but with day & night.... IMO...

I think I saw that there is a new "co-op mode" that you can switch drivers with another friend... so it may be possible to have very long races.... :)

A video of a GT car (I've not looked very closely), being driven around Monza in the wet. I can't tell you how it handles, as the guy driving seems a bit shocking at times (though better than some video I've seen!) but make of it what you will. Still need to play the game to really get the idea, but still......

Hopefully you can set it to whatever you want, otherwise it'd be a real bummer when hotlapping and suddenly it starts raining cats and dogs ;)

I doubt i'll ever race online but if i decide i want to,i hope like heck i dont get in the same lobby as the guy playing Race pro in that video.I have'nt seen bad gear changing like that since that viper video at the Nurbugring.

i'd suggest never running in random rooms - hook up with people you know will be respectful. This is either your Friends List, or organised events that ween out bad driving. I know for one that we don't tolerate it

Can dynamic weather be really that hard?! Its was brilliant on Toca 2 - and thats what...11 years ago!? Oh how codemasters have fallen from grace though...

EDIT - BTW, that video - ^^^^ - its shocking how long it takes to load a car just in the menus....

I think that is one of the better videos out there... shows the main screens, some cars, tracks.. and then shows racing in the rain... which looks amazing!...

I think it would be even more amazing if say the race starts dry, then it rains, you have to pit to change to rain tires... then after say 20 or so laps it gets sunny... and the track slowly gets drier... until it's perfectly dry and then you have to change to some slicks.... oh please dynamic weather!!! please!... that would be great!!!! :)

but, i bet it will be one of these for in game options: all rain, light rain or no rain... hot, warm or cold conditions... sunny, light clouds or very cloudy plus, no changes throughout the single race your in...

I saw that. Hopefully it's just a non-optimised version.

Yeah i remember how well they did the front wheel driver system in the old TOCA series, fantastic work for such early playstation games and the older Colin McRae games used to be great also.

I dont know what's happened to them but they have gone right down the drain which is a heck of a shame.

So basically the rain in Race pro has no effect?,whats the point in putting it in the game then?.

chilledheat
02-01-2009, 14:45
no no, its got the effect - what we're saying is that it doesn't change. Driving in the wet should still feel slippery compared to the dry, its just either 0 or 1 (by the looks of it) - doesn't change during the race, so the conditions will stay constant throughout

Bear in mind that he's using aids in the video, and that TCS light seems to be almost always on.

Yea, it's a shame really that almost all of the videos are run with all aids on, I've only seen ONE video with them off.

True, come to think of it i dont think i have seen any vids where they have had all the driving aid's switched off.

Nagge has got me looking forward to the Nurburgring in the wet though lol,it could be a lot of fun having to fight with the car.

Should be said though that Nürburgring is a (unconfirmed) DLC track, so we might have to wait a bit for that challenge ;)

Yes perhaps but i think 2 DLC packs will either be released on the day or very shortly after. Then again that was mentioned a while back so it could just be the usuall wishfull comments you get a lot of during game development.

Edit : Just watched the vid you posted Nagge,i think we found another gamer we wont let into the same lobby lol.

There has been talks about five monthly DLC packs as far as I can remember so maybe within the first month we'll get the Ring :)

Thanks. That restored my faith slightly. That handling looked pretty much identical to what I have come to expect in Race 07, especially the kick out around the 2nd gear left, Graham Hill bend.

I've seen a few comments recently on other boards/sites that say it looks like Grid, in the way it plays. If they stuck the AI onto the hardest settings most of them would struggle to even keep up.

Well the rumour i was reading a while back mentioned the 5 DLC packs that you just mentioned but it also stated that 2 packs would actually be free and quite close to game release day.

Either way,i will be more than happy to pay for an accurate Nurburgring finally.

Ah now i understand what you mean.Well changing weather would be a great addition but it's no big deal, the important thing is atleast they have added some sort of weather addition to the game.
