He started off with the WTCC Extreme cars, turned off the aids, apart from the corner gear indicator. Started off put it in reverse, got himself stuck in the pits. Took the wrong course, and got confused (WTF!) and didn't brake for a 3rd gear corner sailing straight into a tyre wall.

Let's be fair here, I've heard of and respected the Race and GTR series for a very long time, never really been able to run them (Hardware). Decided when the demo didn't turn up to put Race 07 on and give it a go. It took me about half an hour to adjust myself to being able to drive a MINIaround Brands Hatch. It's hard at the start, but I am loving it. Pro mode is too easy though for some reason (WTCC Championship). Though I presume that's because I am using an FWD SEAT. Getting around Curitiba in an F3000 without aids on the 360 controller with no feedback from the car (vibration doesn't work) was such an achievement. One lap, and I really felt I had accomplished something.

Some great video's there Markao,the only thing i dont like with racing video's is when they put a song that really does'nt fit the racing.I prefer to just hear the actual engines screamng round the track rather than some crazy song playing over it.

Dont get me wrong,some video's look brilliant when its of racing footage and having a song to it,i guess it has to have some thought into what goes with the racing though to make it work.

Loving all those different camera angles in the replay's though,top notch stuff.

Glad you got it working Tak,now i want to try those Mini's even more now.As i mentioned in another thread,i just bought another copy of Forza 2 so i could test the wheel,it seemed the lower class car's were a lot easier to get to grips with due to a limited top speed.So when Race PRO arrive's,i think i am going to spend a lot of the first few month's getting fully used to the Mini and the Ms wheel.

I have just been fiddling with sound settings, someone gave me a hint on how to get it working (not tested yet) so I might be able to reupload the vid with some sound in a bit.

Do bear in mind it is from Race 07, so the layout of the tyres etc might be a little less confusing in Race Pro.

(Oh, and that was about my 30th attempt to get around the track in one piece, and I STILL hit walls!)

Indeed, All vids from Race 07 I post are me driving. (I am using an xbox 360 controller, not the wheel, as it's deadzone is far too big.)

That was actually one of my worst runs in terms of lines, but it was the only one I got through alright to the end. The crash at the start was right near the end of the lap, and it took another 10 to make sure I avoided all the tyre walls and most of the concrete walls. Now don't ask me to do Macau!

I'm using the full version of Fraps (http://www.fraps.com/). It sits on all the time, (does use resources though :() and allows instant recording of video and audio. There is a trial version that only allows 30 sec clips as well.

kal, side note, are these videos ok? Would you want me to put a new thread up for more, stop, anywhere else, or what? Obviously it is not race Pro, but it is related, and I would only put up Race Pro tracks.......?

Oh, come on, no one rattled my cage. People are saying things like "omg something doesn't look right" and "the suspensions doesn't move at all". You really can't tell what amount of body roll or suspension travel the cars have from that video. That's all I'm saying, because, well, you can't......

So I pointed this out said "geez folks, get a grip" because of their fear mongering comments about there being no body roll etc when you honestly can't even tell with that video.

And then a moderator deletes the bit where I said "get a grip" for in-appropriate language..... o_O

The pit is evil. It's marked on a set of tyres and then you have a tyre chicane to navigate as well. Then it turns left.

Shows that its possible to drive smoothly using the xbox 360 controller. Im assuming you were using the thumbstick?.

Porto looks like a very challenging track to use in time attack mode or just having fun seeing who can get the fastest time with your mate without crashing but for actual racing i imagine its a nightmare. Thats the most narrow race track ive ever seen and some pretty awkward corners as well.

Yeah, it is very challenging. Bear in mind that was around the 30th attempt I took to get around the track. And that's in the mini. The first vid shows how it can go wrong at the very start, but that one has no sound.

BTW, if anyone has any specific requests for car and track combos (I only have Race 07, so I don't have the production class, WTCC extreme or any of the GT cars :( ) I will endeavour to record and post, possibly in a new thread.

This has actually been done slightly differently, as before I recorded replay footage in-car, and TV cam. This time, it is direct feed footage of what I see, when I see it.

Notes:

1. The rear view is an option, that is set to virtual here. If it were set to real, the wing mirrors would show behind.

2. The Driver's head is moving with steering, also set by options.

3. Yes, I do get very close to the tyres going around the "Pit chicane"

4. No, the perspective (ie. The driver is sitting to the side of the car, not the middle) does not affect how I drive the car. You get used to it very quickly. Also, the chassis movement feels very real.

5. Pro settings are used, Manual, No ABS, No TCS, No stability. Damage is set to 100% (Auto clutch is the only thing I use)

6. This was on my 7th attempt to get round the track, so I've learnt a bit!

Thanks, The braking patches on the ground help! Mind you, that's about 15 seconds slower than the fastest SR4 (252BHP). When I first tried to drive the track, I kept on overshooting the tight sections, and going into run-off areas. I don't think Race Pro features those run-off areas, so there may well be a few crashes.

Onto what tracks I have available, I've got all the WTCC 07 tracks, but that's it, so I don't have Nurburgring, nor do I have Road America, or Laguna Seca (Race Pro will be the first game with them in). I am really considering getting EVO at the mo. Seems a bit pointless when Race Pro is a month away, but it's sucking me in! (I have mod versions of Nurburgring and Laguna Seca, but I don't want to put those in, as they are not as detailed as anything Simbin would do)

Curitiba, Zandvoort, Pau, Macau (EVIL! Worse than Porto) Anderstorp, Oschersleben, Monza, Brno, Brands Hatch and Valencia.

You had a lot of understeer in that car, is that the way you like it setup or a standard setup?

Also in racing terms is that the realistic place for the start/finish line, obviously I've played Gran Turismo with the same start line as that, and Forza with the Toll Booth start line and never seen a real live race at the circuit so I'm just curious as to which is the more realistic place to start the race.

You had a lot of understeer in that car, is that the way you like it setup or a standard setup?

That was Simbin's setup for the Nurburgring. No alterations.

Additional info, The track was driven with Damage set to off, as it is long, and the Video capture is BIG (2.9 gig for one lap) has to be converted.

I used my knowledge from Forza (see, it does do something) for the corners, and finished that lap 1 hour after getting the game installed.

Well as Tak mentioned earlier,he only has Race 07,he most likely wants Race PRO as it features all of the previous pc stuff and some extra.Pretty much the same reason other pc users want Race PRO.

Well, In terms of Race Pro, I want it for the Xbox Live network and friends. I'm part of a racing team, and competition is actually more fierce on console.

I only started playing Race 07 a month ago, in anticipation for Race pro. I have a wheel for the xbox, but it doesn't cut it on the PC. Also, I'm down on Spec in terms of what Simbin recommend, so I can't have all the graphical bells and whistles.

I just got the urge to buy GTR Evo for £15 earlier.

what do you guys know about IRacing. I just started watching some vids. It looks like the real thing. The track scale is amazing.

Are there two camps, GTR/IRACING much like the GT and Forza camps.

IRacing is arguably the most realistic driving simulation ever conceived or attempted. It is also the most expensive Sim racing "title". Real drivers do use it for practice, and that is what it actually is aimed at.

In terms of camps, generally not. Most PC gamers get along with each other, the console wars are just restricted to consoles. Pointless console wars.

The subscription it costs. $20 a month, $50 a quarter, $156 a year.

And that's just for a very basic set of tracks and cars. More tracks and more cars cost you more money.

There is always a stratergy behind overtaking in any game?

Being tight doesn't just make it have a stratergy, just more of a waiting game until the wider sections. and clean racing is less likely on those street tracks, side by side banging a lot i garauntee

This is very true, if my experience of Ferrari Challenge is anything to go by, the fan base over there is very much a simillar one to this RACE pro fanbase, so after a couple of days cooling off period where kids, corner cutters, rammers, wall riders, backwards runners, mike spammers and general pains in the butt found out that the game didn't suit them and got rid of it, things online (racecraft wise) have been fine since then, although not very busy, I don't think that in the last couple of months I've come across a single dirty driver.

Whereas the Forza factor seemed to encourage all of the badly behaved drivers, just when things started to settle down, Christmas happened and it's now awash with a fresh batch of people who think running backwards, ramming etc is funny.

I reckon RACE Pro will be busier than Ferrari Challenge, and of course will have the odd problem with bad etiquet (which I think is nowadays expected on any game) but on the whole I reckon the experience will be second to none.

I don't drive them in general in Forza etc. I just thought I'd see what I could do on 1 lap. That was actually my 4th lap, but my first completed one, after a few wheel loss moments, and slightly too late braking incidents.

I'm definitely not considering myself an expert, Just thought you might like to a) see a Saleen in action (I apologise for the hands not moving, it's apparently a bug when you have the seat too far forwards in GTR Evo) and b) see it around a street track! :respect:

Yeah, I know, but do you know how tight that is. When learning a few tracks, I had the Arrows and suggested gearing on, and they recommend 1st gear a few times. I don't always look at what gear I'm in, just working on speed, so that would have been a reflex shift.

You just need to give it a bit of power-oversteer.

I am much more looking forward to driving the CCXR than the CCX. I think that extra 212 bhp will make the car a lot more responsive. So while the CCX may be a bit dodgy on GTR Evo, I think I will find the CCXR on Race Pro to be quite capable on any track.

I don't unfortunately. I had to move it in the aston to be able to see the gear change indicator, as I don't really use the dial to the right.

Actually, I usually change gear purely by sound, I often redline the engine a couple of times on purpose, then I know where I have to shift.

It's an old interview, so you may have seen it. They were asked, but the interview asked about 3 questions at once and so it's not easy to tell whether he was saying it didn't when he said they couldn't include every aspect of racing, or if he only answered the first half of the question about parts and liveries.

In the next question he mentions that the driving camera positions and default controller / wheel set up was all worked out for each car and key to how good the sim would feel and that they'd spent lots of time getting them right. So perhaps it isn't adjustable, although there are, according to a post on forzacentral, about 14 different things to adjust for the controller / wheel setup. Perhaps one or more of them is the driving camera.

No. This is Race 07, this thread has kinda become a little Race 07 video playground. The lag you are seeing is due to me using a pad, and being able to move the stick way faster than you could ever move a wheel. I have a feature enabled which means the driver looks to the inside of the corner, where I am turning, so when my stick flicks back, the view instantly moves back to centre.

Kal, any chance you can hack these videos out of here and move them into their own thread, of your choosing?

Notes:

1. The spray appears green in the replays due to a reduction in bit-rate for the graphics.

2. No, I couldn't drive the Z4 any faster.

3. Yes, the lap around Macau is pretty bad, count the walls I hit.

4. The third Corner at Zandvoort is a pain. If you are slightly too early on any power, it will just throw you into the wall, and head first into a tyre barrier a little way along.

Just another little note, I try and turn these videos around very quickly, so usually what you'll see is the first clean lap that I got around the track. I am always open to requests, but once the demo or the game are out, you'll see me on there instead, as you can play it yourself.

There's always room for improvement, so don't take these laps as being fast, though I have tried to go as fast as I am confident to.

I love how well SIMBIN give the realism of speed.I noticed it with the mini's,most racing game's you dont really feel like your goin fast till you hit around 200mph,those Mini's felt like the body panels were gonna start flying off at 115mph.Very groovy.

It's actually remarkably good. I lost it a few times on that lap putting too much power through the wheels in second gear, but compared to other cars, it collects up very well, and quickly.

Ouch pardon me for being strict but that is some serious wallgrinding on Macau :( Not a lap that would be approved in a league. The barriers are there not to hit them, and not to take advantage of hitting them and stabilize the car.
A real life F3000 car can hit it maybe one or twice but then the damage is unrepairable: end of race.

I have said before the laps are not supposed to be as clean as a whistle. I didn't purposefully "wall-grind", and I was very grateful for it not to affect my suspension.

Personally i am a pc racer for a few years now, and the fact that an addicted pc gamer like myself is interested in this game says more then enough. I am just as excited as the console fans, about it.

This year at the WTCC races in Oschersleben and Monza i have raced on the first version of RACE Pro (build in a simulator and with a wheel) and i am hooked since. This is the first console game that actually has my interest. So much that ive taken this entire saturday off to go mad on the demo (if it comes):salut2:

I didnt want to petronise you in any way, you support the game greatly, i just wanted to stay as close to the question of the best videos as asked. Your work is appreciated.

Righty-ho.

The video is recorded. It currently needs editing, formatting, and uploading. Then Youtube have to process it. Video is likely to be 9 minutes long, and so youtube may well take a while to get it sorted.

Some facts:

1. Driven in Pro settings, apart from reducing the number of sessions down to just Practice and Race. Race start position is random.

2. The AI is set at 90%, and as it is a high speed course, that means they don't run as fast down the straights as they should.

3. The race was set to 2 laps so it would fit with replay onto one youtube video (No Nordschleife antics this time round!)

4. I hit Priaulx's BMW on lap 2, watch how he doesn't spin off like I weighed 10 tons, and the fact it allows Giovanardi's Vectra right at me

5. This is using the Crown Plaza free track and car pack, hence Giovanardi (a BTCC driver)'s car is in it.

Now all you guys have to do is wait for about an hour before it is uplaoded and processed!

I haven't mastered this track at all yet. It's massively high speed, yet the surface irregularities seem to throw me. Can't get my head around it.
