Kudos to Brako_UK for being pro-active on this one, the developers have been in contact and might be checking out these forums when they have more time.

Hey there

I have forwarded your request for a Q&A to the Xbox development team… if they can somehow find time I think we all agree it would be interesting, but at this point in the development cycle nobody has much time even for sleep so anything “secondary” has to be considered carefully. Thanks for your support and interest, I hope you will be happy with the final result of our work.

Regarding the forums he had this to say:
I think we will meet again there sometime soon… We are trying to keep up on following the discussions there

So guys.. best behaviour - Simbin are watching :p

With that in mind I'll start compiling some potential Qs for them to look at as and when they get any free time - so don't assume they will get answered (the game's gotta have higher priority!), but if they do then it'll be a bonus :)

Feel free to make some suggestions for questions in this thread - I'll create a clean list from suggestions here.

Questions so far
Gameplay

Will the game feature any data logging/telemetry?
Night racing?
Dynamic weather?
Will you be able to choose fuel only or tires only when pitting? Any other settings possible during pitstops?
Does Race Pro support time acceleration during single/online races?
Does the cockpit view support "Look To Apex" feature as well?
Is there a photomode function?
Are there any time penalties for collisions/going off track? (I'd hate the game to have GRiD corner cutting antics)
Is there an option to race against lap time ghosts (your own and/or someone else) with a choice of one or the other?
Will tuning setups be able to be saved?
To what extent will pitting repair damage to the car. Cosmetic, engine or both. Is there an option to what you want repairing?
This may seem trivial, but from all the gameplay videos that I've seen, the HUD tachometer always seems to redline at 7000 rpm, no matter what car is being used. Will this be changed for the Final Game? And also, will it be possible to change to a "digital" tachometer similar to Forza 2?
Will you be able to set your fuel load before the race?
Will turning off the assists allow faster times by a skilled driver?
With the super bee Charger being a promotion car when pre-orded from various shops, will this car be then mixed into another class or have SIMBIN given it it's own particular event in career mode?

Online

Will multiplayer feature qualifying, and the option of rolling/standing starts?
Will success ballast be a Feature (Online)?
Are we going to be able to mix classes in Multiplayer races?
How does the scoreboard function? Is there a scoreboard for each car, class or track? Will there be the ability to filter aids on/off ?
Will there be an online scoreboard (website not live)?
Can tuning setups from scoreboard times of other people be downloaded, and is there an option to 'lock' the setups on the upload?
Will there be any automatic kicking of players from races if they start going the wrong way round the track?
Will the host be able to limit the controller type (Wheel vs Pad) of the users joining the session?

DLC

Will any DLC approach the type like STCC for Race Pro, or will it be limited to single tracks and cars?
What will future DLC consist of, tracks, cars or maybe even whole new car classes?
With early rumours flying around that Race PRO will feature monthly DLC,is this actually the case or have SIMBIN decided to spread them out over a longer period?

Community

Will you be arranging any Developer versus Community events, so you can show us how it's really done?

Hardware/technical

Will you be able to look left/right using the D-pad on the wheel?
Can they confirm support for the fanatec 911 turbo S wheel for race pro, and if so, will they be utilizing the LED's on the wheel to add cool functions like displaying gear changes and speed?
Will anything be noticeably different with Lizard compared to the engine you have used in the past for the PC?
Will there be a way to move/backup your save game files but at the same time avoiding exploits?

Q: If there is a hotlap scoreboard, will the time penalties be included? (FM2 does not include penalty time with final lap time)

Ok, questions included to this point so I've reset the thread. Please keep on topic.

Even if we get to find out the answers when the game comes out before the devs have time, they'll make a great basis for the FAQ.

Question 1: Is there achievement tracking for any of the achievements? So for example you
know you have won 43 out of 50 ranked matches towards earning the achievement.
It is always extremely helpful and can alleviate frustration/uncertainty.

Will there be different (or any form) of mechanical failures, i.e. transmission, engine, brakes, etc.?

Will there be a practice mode available to tune cars before a qualifying run?

I would really not only like to see this game do it, but any future game coming out have the tracking feature. Not trying to get off subject, but Gears 2 did an excellent job with the tracking of achievements. I just hope all games will adapt to this feature and make it a common occurrence.

Will there be a practice mode available to tune cars before a qualifying run?

At the moment on all SimBin games the online sessions is:
Practice
Qualifying
Warmup
Time to reach the grid posistion/exit the box
Race

I suspect that in racepro we will see the same structure.

What exactly is the "Time to reach the grid position/exit the box"? Is that like a last minute setup change before the race?

Yes, because you might not want to run the long race with your qualifying fuel load!

exactly...after the Qualifying is common practice to load the "race setup", fill the fuel in order to cope with the laps and check if the air temperature and track temperature have been changed and therefore adjust airbrake and radiator ducts and tyres pressure.

Then start the engine and drive to the grid....

So will you actually be able to/from your garage stall during practice, warmup and during the race?

absolutely

remember that i'm speaking of my previous experience on other SimBin titles on pc (GTR, GTR2, GTLegneds, Race07)

That would be pretty cool if you do get to drive to and from the Garage on the console version. Is any part of it automated? Do people just communicate when they are coming out so someone coming down the lane doesn't plow into them or they pull out in front of someone?

Entering the box
when you are in practice and qualifying you can drive the car in the pit lane but is quite useless (just press ESC)...i dont know how will be implemented in the console version.

During race (like the real life) you have to "call" the box via radio and asking for pit (pressing a key). Than you can enter or delete the request. If you enter without calling the crew the pit stop will be few seconds longer to implement the fact that the crew is not ready and you just popped in the box without notice.

Exiting the box
you just go through the pit lane with the speed limiter activated (otherwise you'll take a stop&go penalty). For people on the track there is the light signalling the outcome car.
the software does not recognize if you cross the track when you are exiting the pit lane. It's common sense of racing driver to respect and reamin within the exit lane until it finishes.
Normally during "official race" at the end of the race the host has the full replay of the race and administrator will check for any unfair conduct ( i doubt will be possible on a console)

All the previuos SimBin title has this feature.

(a community question)
Are there any plans for an official web based Race Pro community (forum & news), similar to what Bungie, Turn 10 and FROM software have done for their games?

Does Race Pro have non crash related mechanical parts failing other than brake wear and engine overheating?

Brake wear i don't think has been implemented....brake temperature effecting brake efficiency is implemented (on previous PC game)

Engine failure in case of several wrong shifting (normally due to hi rev)

I believe Diego has answered this one in the other recently publicised Q&A by stating that the lobby host will have control about changing the room from practice mode (free laps etc) into the quali/race stage once they are happy that everyone is in the xbox live lobby. It seems that if you want to, you can leave it on Free practice for ages!

one word comes to mind for this...... Result!!!!:bravo:

I've noticed in collisions between player and AI cars in videos both cars don't move more than 3 inchs from the impact unlike in the PC SimBin games where spin outs are common in even light shunts. I hope this is not a PC to Console physics change to reduce bad race crashes because they believe " Arcade " console gamers are not skilled enough to race close bumper to bumper like there PC racing friends do. I hope I'm wrong but don't be suprised if I've hit the nail right on the head people. Question: has collision detection been toned right down for the 360 port and if so why?

Ahhhh so that would be good news for me. Personally I am sick of playing Forza2 and not being able to have a 12 or 15 lap racelolblue:
